*NOTE FOR TRUE BEGINNERS*
If you're a true beginner, and you've stumbled upon this guide, it might be better if you start at the very beginning. That beginning is: Keep in mind that it IS outdated, but the core information still applies. |
*NOTE ON TOXICITY*
SMITE is a MOBA. As such (unfortunately), you can expect to encounter toxicity in some of your matches. The easiest suggestion is to group with like-minded individuals / friends that are okay with you not being perfect (or anywhere close to...). Unfortunately, you won't always be able to do this. If you're able to brush nasty comments off, more power to you. Another GREAT option is the in-game MUTE button! However, you might find the following links helpful: |

PC Communication Options
|
Typing to your team (start by pressing ENTER) can provide very specific details, but precious seconds are wasted while you stand still. There are two alternatives to typing. The first communication option is using a chat program. SMITE has its own embedded system (which you can enable by going into Settings\Audio Tab and enabling in-game chat). Any people you're grouped with in a party (or if you're playing a ranked game) can use this feature. You can also use a 3rd party program when playing with friends, including Discord, Twitch, Teamspeak, and Mumble.
Of course, talking isn't always preferred. Sometimes it's a language barrier. Perhaps it's sleeping roommates/parents/children/significant others. Maybe you've run into one too many toxic players. Whatever the case, your communication options don't end there. The second option is built directly into SMITE, and doesn't require any talking or lengthy typing. In fact, it can be the quickest, most efficient way to communicate with your team. This is where VGS (Voice Guided System) comes into play.
For full details, check out the Wiki page: VGS: Smite Wiki
Pressing "V" initiates the VGS system. When the full command is inputted, not only does it list the command in chat for reading, but a preset voice audibly issues the statement, making it an immediately useful notification for teammates. The various codes take some time to memorize, and even further time to become instinctual, but learning this system is key to effective teamwork. Not only can it gather teammates to efficiently take down objectives, but it can counter enemy strategies The following are examples of extremely helpful commands in various situations...not all commands are covered here: ![]()
Console players unfortunately don't have access to keyboards and thus can't type out complex commands or notifications. That said, microphones are generally very easy to obtain and set up, and it is highly, highly recommended to use them. Even if teammates aren't talking, it's very likely they can hear you. As for the VGS system, as of Patch 5.3, it now has full VGS capabilities. Below are helpful visuals for both consoles for some of the main commands. The additional commands added for XBox and PS4 can be found HERE. ![]() ![]()

In order for it to be fully complete, I need the official map from SMITE Wiki, as well as artwork for the Totem of Ku, etc. But for all intents and purposes, it's pretty much good to go.
Tier 2 Bancrofts start missing as well.
Also I don't really take Skadi as a solo laner, other hunters can do solo lane better and any could probably go there.
Also add Hera for support/solo.
And also add Achilles for support as well.
Also Merc support? May as well add Nemesis too I guess.
And lastly for the mage adc Chronos/sol start I would just change it to hunters blessing and tiny trinket (Especially Sol, who really doesen't use mage's blessing that well). There isn't a point in getting tier 1 boots with mage's blessing. Same for Freya. That is unless you want to list the hunters blessing, tier 1 celestial helm start.
For support starts add guardians blessing, tier 1 shoes, and 3 health pots and 3 multi pot start.
Those solo starts need an overhaul as well. No mention of guardians blessing at all , or tier 1 shield start with health chalice and 2 or 3 health pots (for those rushing beserkers or glad shield), tier 2 soul eater start with health chalice.
FYI just because I don't want to, I'm not adding Nem in the Support list, but adding Hera Support/Solo. Making multiple starting items adjustments too.
Want one clarification...what's the purpose of the
The purpose of the Magic focus start is due to it being the strongest early clear (with mage's blesssing) outside of tier 2 thoth/bancrofts for mages that can get divine/magus after boots (maybe deso too). Take Raijin, Agni etc.. for instance. Divine Ruin not being good early is questionable, saying "perhaps some very, very situational use of Magus" is very, very odd. It's one of the best pen items in the game that abuses the current season 5 version of Soul Reaver, not to mention helping magical teammates. How relevant Reaver is in season 6 remains to be seen,
Divine is situational, but sure, great against gods with healing in their kits. Magus early, my whole thought process there was about not needing that much pen that early...but I guess doing true damage that early is pretty nice. I get that.
I think it could be beneficial to your guide to include the details of the buff for readers to consider.
I picked Smite up at release and played nothing but Arena until only this year, when I decided I knew enough to branch out. I watched plenty of videos and read lots of small guides on other sites, but this is the one thing that has helped me with Conquest the most.
I'd urge anyone wanting to take the plunge into Conquest to bookmark this guide.
I know it can be intimidating going from a far more simple mode into the full map against players who have been in this mode for ages, but once I was used to it (and it didn't take as long as I thought) I was fine and I'm now loving Conquest.
And it's down to people like Branmuffin17 who take time to offer this to players like me.
Thanks x 10

Can also add meditation as a situational choice for solo lane. It's rare but i've seen it built on solo laners with not that good sustain.
*edit* Med cloak though? What about that mana buff? Or are you talking just for the health sustain? Level 5 that's like 150ish health, which seems so small. < 1 potion's worth. If it's barely used, I think I'd prefer not even listing it...I just want to give the best general options.
As of now...with the lower CD, I feel it might have some good potential again, especially with a quick rotating Jungle gank attempt. That 20% increased damage should be pretty functional. That is, of course, if you have better early sustain than the lane enemy and don't need tele or something, or have to get beads or whatnot.
Let's keep an eye on the use of Sunder. In the end I may take it out.

Will make those changes, thanks dude.
Also, I'd checked the warding maps, and they're showing up for me...
As for picture links that don't work, it's because postimg changed their base url from .org to .cc. I just made that little adjustment and it brings everything back.
