Zhong Kui's Lore

Smite God Zhong Kui In this world resides powerful evil, intent on destroying everything crafted by Gods and men. Without guardians of equal strength, all would have fallen years ago.

Zhong Kui was once a man with ambitions no greater than scholastic excellence, but in death became the perfect shield against evil's onslaught. Zhong Kui sought to put his brilliant mind against the imperial examinations; Tests to select councilors for the Emperor. With ease, he passed, but when the Emperor saw his hideous face, he cast the scholar out.

Offended, furious, Zhong Kui hurled himself repeatedly as the palace gates, until his body was broken. For his crimes, Zhong Kui's soul was judged by the King of Hell, but where the Emperor saw only ugliness, the King of Hell saw potential, armed with genius.

Zhong Kui was appointed Lord of Demons, tasked to forever hunt and ensnare the evils of the world. For centuries, homeowners and shopkeepers have adorned their buildings with Zhong Kui's likeness, for that visage that once horrified the Emperor now glares with purpose at unwelcome demons.

Yet these days, it is not just shops and homes in peril, but the whole world.

I've really gotta ask. Why this God isn't played.
And don't give me shell as an excuse.
Cause other relics have to be picked to counter other Gods.
Besides that, the cooldown on She'll isn't enough anyways.

I'm a bit worried about how people jump the gate on relic counters.
Look at Odin and phantom. He still cages hella people in.
Not everyone is gonna buy phantom anyways.

Quoted:
If the card is removed, 40% of the remaining damage is done instantly.

Big reason why.
Another reason: Book of Demons has a long recovery time. By the time you're allowed to do anything else, the stun has already ended.

Zhong Kui is pretty immobile and pretty easy to target in a fight, so any CC is enough to immobilize him. He requires being pretty close, and in this meta that does not really pan out well for you.

His only CC is a close range stun, and without the mark it is REALLY short. His main thing is being tanky with his ult while slowing everyone with Gem of Isolation, but sometimes he wont get the chance before being shut down.

He can be a good choice though if you can play him, considering his damage and a unique way of teamfighting, but there are multiple better choices to work with that can bring more.

Poor Techno's god. Yeah, all of his damage is over time, he's not really a burst god. I've been on both sides, where I was able to beat out an Odin and a Bellona in Solo, but got demolished by some other gods (especially when the Jungler comes for a gank...not having any escape and hardly any CC worth noting in the early game (before you can at least get Iso) can really hurt.

So his only discourse is to go tanky, but that hurts his damage too. Once you can get maybe Warlock's Sash and a balanced protection item, he can take some punishment, but it takes time to get there...time that can be painful if you're not careful.

If people forget to focus him, he can do a ton of damage in a teamfight though, and lock down entire groups for his teammates to more easily finish.

Hey guys, I just put a ton of time into a hUGE Zhong Kui guide. It's got a build that gives you 3150 health, almost 700 power, good penetration and basic attacks that hit like a truck for massive sustained damage. It's also got in depth play guides. It's been out for a while now but has not a single vote or comment, so I'd appreciate any feedback on it, thanks :)

Well, it looks like Zhong Kui has been forgotten entirely. Or at least, nobody talks about him anymore. I made a guide, so at least this page still has a reason to exist, just so we can say every god has an updated guide. If nobody cares at all, I might just stop updating the guide, since there's no reason to keep something updated if nobody ever reads it.

Dude, stop. Pls.
If someone is looking for zhong kui guide, he will find your guide. Have patience.

Look at the other guides here, Skadi is a really popular god, and i spilled my sould in every single skadi build, skill and i am now eorking on a huge gameplay section and other stuff.

And i only got 9 votes. Despite the time past and the ammount of views, yet, i dont complain. Most pepole use smitefire anonynously and your guide might help them.

Do you know what? I just had a plenty of good matches as Zhong, and I may even create a guide for him! Just need some more in-depth conquest gameplay.

To me he seems like a mishmash of mechanics put just *so* to make it work beautifully. Perfectly balanced in my eyes - depending on the player, he can seem UP or OP. I agree that it will take a long time to master, but he seems easy enough to pick up and play.
What I see in the abilities:

1.) Wave-clear. Does barely any damage, but buffs his other two abilities. Also annoying as ****. Reminds me of Agni.

2.) Sustain/Cone attack. Surprising damage and surprising sustain, would be OP if it weren't for him being roughly as squishy as Loki.

3.) AoE. The passive is unique, at least I think (correct me if I'm wrong). It makes me want to compare his autoattack with Isis'. The stun isn't that great, but can be pretty good if used in synergy with other friendly gods. Maxed, does more damage than his 2. Reminds me of Ra's 2, but instead of blinding, it actaully does damage.

Easily the most unique god I've seen so far. I encourage guides that are best with a pick-up-and-go attitude (No complicated playing strategy) (Sorry Jararo). Will probably buy him when he becomes 5500, even though I play mostly egyptian gods.

Now let's hope that they don't nerf him into oblivion...

He's pretty interesting I might make a guide for him, who knows.

He's like, a Hel-Chronos-Hades hybrid. Heal AoE/AoE damage, auto attack enhancing, debuff on one spell+additional effect on others, mage. It's soooo weird.

Eh, but not *all* guides on day 1 are bad. I'd like to think by Tyr guide is at least mostly good ;)

But it's going to take some serious testing to get the right build for him. He has auto attacks, but isn't auto attack based, and his spells have an interesting order to them. I think it'll be a very long time before he's perfected.

Exactly. I usually start up with a WIP guide and then update it with more info, as I play more the god.
Many guides are a good proof of ''first day of release, popular guide''.

Zhong Kui is one of the most bizarre gods of SMITE, skill wise. He does have a heal-related ultimate, and does have additional damage on AA. Although he is not an AA Mage, or a support.
