Would this starter item work well with Ganesha? Or would his passive nullify the effects??

The starter does seem like it is synergistic with his passive, and way easier to regularly provide to his teammate. That said, I don't think either upgrade is very good, and difficult to pass up compared to some of the other options. If you did get this, it would be one of the few starters I'd likely sell late-game and replace with a regular T3 item. That said, don't let that stop you from giving this item a shot.

For most supps at this point, I think the boring but reliable Sentinel's Gift -> Sentinel's Embrace is tough to move away from.

The upgrades are kind of sleeper items. I saw Incon play Cthulhu and go for the Compassion upgrade, when he ulted everyone was playing around him and yes he was taking a lot of damage but it was peeling for his team significantly; plus any damage they did take he could heal with his 3 in ult.

animosity is a solid late game pick up for Cabrakan, Fafnir, ***bha, Sylvanus, Terra, Yemoja and Ymir. I expect maybe it could work into physical supports like Hercules but not as well (I need to test Jorm to see if it works with his autos). The reason it works so well on those gods are either because they have specialised autos somewhere in their kit or their playstyle.

A cheese strat I have seen is gods playing Solo and building HP and tank items and then picking it up late game because they rushed Shoes of the Magi first item. Mostly on Zhong Kui and Terra Solo but definitely some other options.

But in reference yes the base starter item is good for Ganesha but out of the 2 I would probably pick Compassion for him, not that either of them fit him that well. Better to go Sentinel's Embrace for now before they nerf it.
