Just following up on some of the old below comments about Iza's mechanics.
  • Regular Sickle "Boomerang" damage: Right now, when she's using her normal basic attack boomerang, she deals her level's base damage (36 + 2.4 per level) plus 75% of her physical power on the attack going OUT, and plus 25% of her physical power on the attack going BACK. Regular hunters deal 100% of their physical power per hit, so you can see her scaling is going to be a bit weaker in that regard UNLESS she hits both the throw out AND back.

  • Lifesteal (AOE coefficient): Lifesteal for other hunters normally deals the full amount of the lifesteal % of the damage you deal. Iza's boomerang can hit multiple enemies, thus it's considered an AOE. This means it's subject to the 0.33x coefficient. In other words, each individual hit provides 1/3 of the lifesteal %.

This doesn't necessarily make lifesteal bad for her. Each boomerang throw, for example, can hit all 6 minions in a wave. Remember that in general, to be equal to another hunter, she needs to hit the target both going out and coming back (due to the scaling). With the 1/3 coefficient, she can equal another hunter's lifesteal by hitting 3 minions out and back. BUT...in hitting 6 minions out and back, she can gain 200% lifesteal equivalence from a single throw. So if you have Asi (passive not considered), you can get 40% lifeateal equivalence in one throw hitting all minions in a wave.

  • Item effects: Her boomerangs can only activate item effects such as The Executioner, Ichaival, and Qin's Sais once per throw. This makes it so she doesn't have an insane advantage over other hunters by being able to double-stack an effect (or completely abuse the Qin's passive damage bonus).

Critical hits don't count as item effects. Boomerang throws can crit on the throw out and back, but the damage is calculated the same as regular hits. In order to deal the equivalent damage as a normal hunter's crit, Iza would have to not only connect on both out and back hits, but crit on both as well.

  • Sickle Storm: Sickle Storm is Izanami's steroid, giving her an AS boost and a small amount of bonus damage. More importantly, it turns her boomerangs into a normal basic...meaning one hit only. So, while this is active, she acts like a normal hunter, and all the weird scaling and on-hit effects act as you would expect. This means, when this is active, she loses the disadvantages the boomerang can have.

More specifically, each basic only has one CHANCE to proc an item effect. For crits, this means if you hit the enemy on the hit out, and it doesn't crit, that's its chance...and it will NOT crit on the way back.
This is incorrect, Bran.

Her basics have the critical strike chance applied to it both on the way out and the way back. This means that if you hit an enemy with both hits of a single auto, you could crit (1) Only the outgoing hit, (2) Only the incoming hit, (3) Both the incoming and the outgoing, or (4) Neither hit.

Also, if you hit multiple enemies, each enemy has their own critical strike chance applied to the basic. For example, on an outgoing throw that hits two enemies, it could crit one and not the other.

Izanami interacts with Critical Strike Chance more effectively than almost any god in the game due to her ability to apply critical strikes up to two times to multiple targets in a single auto.

Are you sure on this? Wiki says the following:

"Also, Izanami's Basic Attacks only trigger Item effects on the first target hit per attack"

Also, a note about only applying item effects once. This is also incorrect when concerning critical strike items.

For example, Poisoned Star can apply the poison passive onto multiple enemies in a single auto attack.

I don't know if it's solely critical strike items, but item interactions with her autos seem to be inconsistent with the description in her kit.

The interaction of her basic attacks was changed again.

On PTS Izanami was able to crit at any point of her basic attack, but only could apply 'On-hit' effects such as "Executioner", "Qin's Sais" etc. on the 1st target hit. Also effects of crit items could only apply on the 1st crit per basic attack.
On release her basic attacks were not anymore able to apply crits on the second part, making her extremly dependend on the 1st ability "Sickle Storm".
Now with the hot fix 3.16.3600.1. her basic attack mechanic is changed once more, back to a status between the 1st PTS build and the final PTS Build, with a small tweak.

Izanami will still just be able to apply 'On-Hit' effects once per basic, on the first target hit.
Izanami can now crit again on both ways. In and out.
Critical hits can effect every target in the path.
Critical hits will now apply, all benefits of them on all targets which got critical hit.
That means every critical strike on both ways, in and out, will now apply: "Rage" (both Stacks gain and remove), "Poisen Star" (Debuffs for everybody), "Wind Demon" (Movementspeed all day long), "Malice" (procs for full dmg), "Deathbringer" (on all hits).

new patch, time to theorycraft!

So, regarding my guide, the new update will have to wait for a couple of reasons:
1) Everyone's still researching, currently, i know Qin's Sais will remain, i know that full power Izanami works pretty good, crit does less damage on her boomerangs but still same damage on sickle, and lifesteal is weird.

currently, i'm thinking of the unicorn/crit mixed build, since you still need to box with Sickle Storm

2) law school is starting tommorow :p wish me luck!

edit:...
THEY NERFED HER, WHAT?!

according to dukesloth, the interaction with crit didnt happen earlier. in fact, they nerfed her 1 day before the patch, so her crit interactions will be 75%...

the **** hirez?

I would like to know what is everyone's opinion on her model; it first came to my mind with the release of Expelled Hel skin but I find Izanami even more potentially debatable- it's not that it bothers ME, but I saw Smite being rated as a "Teen" game, which apparently means 13+ years old.

Don't you think that the way she moves and uses taunt (or joke? the one where she spins her body without moving her head) animation and to some degree, her appearance feel a bit too creepy/spooky for a potential 13 y/o kid that'd be playing the game? Or are the standards going up higher and higher- that may also be the case.

40-year-olds play Pokemon. 10-year-olds play Call of Duty. Age ratings are basically just a formality.

well, the community did specifically ask for it. there was litterly a reddit post that reached the top and threatened hirez if the representation of Izanami isnt scary enough.

Things being 'scary' actually rarely give a higher rating threshold. The reason why horror games are often rated M is because of gore, swearing and other adult content. Scare factor alone usually isn't enough to get anything beyond a T in the video game world or a pg 13 in movies.

The icon that was included in the Smite game files was different to the one they've given her in the client now, fixed.
