PASSIVE - You permanently gain +.5 Physical Power and +.20% Physical Lifesteal per stack, and receive 5 stacks for a god kill and 1 stack for a minion kill. (max. 70 stacks)
Viability / General Use:High viability. Popular stacking item for physical basic attackers looking for high health sustain.
Advantages: Reasonable cost, high power and lifesteal at full stacks.
Disadvantages: No penetration, no attack speed, requires stacking.
Restrictions: Physical gods only.
Discussion: This is a strong lifesteal item for basic attackers that also provides good power at full stacks. Due to the requirement for stacking, it is best purchased early in a build, and in modes with longer laning phases (e.g. Conquest).
Ajax tweet says Devo's is getting a buff in 4.15 (patch notes on Wednesday)...like...how MUCH of a buff? Does the passive change, or are numbers just increasing? Maybe we see the same end stats but in 50 stacks instead of 75?
Depending on how much of a buff it is, this might be able to stay in my Medusa kit, though she's still feeling the aftereffects of losing Fatalis.
Really? I do not think this item was wrong at any time (when I buy it I do not dislike it). I hope and just touch the fact that they are 50 stacks instead of 75 as you mention, I would be very disgusted to return the ADC's that heal infinite ( Devourer's Gauntlet + Asi + Bloodforge = OMG).
Getting 3 lifesteal items drops DPS to a degree...other items provide a lot of utility or other aspects that would generally be superior to 3x lifesteal. You still need movespeed (either 1 or 2 items depending), a strong pen item, and either Qin's or 2x crit items...3x lifesteal usually means you have to drop one of these.
As for the item itself, it's not bad...but it's recently been viewed as a bit inferior to other options. For whatever reason, people have been skipping lifesteal altogether (WHYYYY?!? I LOVE LIFESTEAL ON HUNTERS!!!), and going for stronger early potential. Trans provides higher burst due to the higher power, or if people don't go with stacking, they might go from Warrior Tabi directly into Ichaival or Silverbranch Bow. Those items are just superior in DPS to Devo's at the time they're built.
But we're seeing HR try to shift the game from early to mid/late, hence all of the recent changes, tower/phoenix buffs, jungle camp/gold fury XP/gold nerfs, etc. Devo's takes longer to stack and NEEDS those stacks to be advantageous. Personally, that feels like it fits right in with their general strategy. But it's seen less use, so they're probably buffing it to give it more appeal again. You know how they do things.
So hopefully they don't destroy the item...minor touches to make it a bit better, make it come online a bit earlier, things like that would be great. They don't need to increase end power, total lifesteal amount, add movespeed, or straight up change the passive. We'll see what happens.
^That wouldn't surprise me seeing as how HR tends to make item changes. As for the gauntlet itself, I can see it being used on hunters who don't go for crit or trans. I'd rather stick with Asi for Artemis or Transcendence for Neith.
Devo's is almost always best in combination with crit hunters like Artemis who have strong attack speed steroids. Reason I would prefer Devo's over Asi for her is because of that steroid. Asi provides attack speed and some pen, but no power, and that power is what gets amplified more than double with a crit build. She has easy access to attack speed from other things like The Executioner and/or Wind Demon if she chooses either of these (along with a bridge like Ichaival). And late game, depending on how she built, she might switch Warrior Tabi for Ninja Tabi.
If I went for an objective-destroying build using Titan's Bane, then yeah, I can see Asi being a good option for her since she likely won't get The Executioner in most of those situations.
I usually go with Asi for arena, but Dev for clash/conquest. I haven't played conquest in ages, but when I was playing regularly, I usually played support, so I'm not up to speed on the hunter meta anymore. I just go with what seems to work. :)
It's decent, but it takes too long to stack. Asi gives you a lot of relevant stats much sooner, and the power that Gauntlet gives you isn't the most important, seeing how much power we get from other items anyways.
Just tried it out in jungle practice and a few custom games. It doesn't actually take too long to stack (still pretty long, but not 25 minutes long), and the reward is pretty big. I could see most hunters building this and doing well.
Don't forget that the spawn rate of the minions in the Jungle practice is faster than in Conquest mode.
In Conquest, minion waves spawn every 30 seconds, if you do a perfect score on your last hits every wave, you can full your Devourer's Gauntlet in 6 min 30s (13 waves).
Since you rarely can do such a perfect score, 8 - 10 minutes is a more realistic time to get your stacks done.
It's not particualary long, but it's some "dedication" one could prefer to avoid.
It doesn't say how to make it stack. Like does it give you another stack when you kills an enemy hero or creep? >.<
