"Hope you can swim!" - Poseidon
Changing Tides
Type: Passive
Extra damage: Up to
+20% extra damage at max tide level
Extra movespeed: Up to
+15% extra movespeed at max tide level
Poseidon basic attacks increase the tide marker, with higher tides, come higher damages and movespeed. Using his skills decrease the marker (except the
Trident).

details
A decent passive for a mage. Gives you extra movespeed to keep you alive/run away from threats and also extra power on your skills, enhancing your burst power. Try to hit as many basic attacks as you can to stack this passive and try to keep it as high as you can. Remember that
Trident provides a big help stacking this, but watch out with your mana!
Tidal Surge
Type: Line
Cooldown: 10 secs
Damage: 100/140/180/220/260
(+ 70% of your magical power)
Tidal Meter: -20%
Poseidon brings a wave to the battlefield, and it travels in a line, damaging all enemies it hits a knocking back them.

details
A line skill that knockback enemies. Nothing special. Can be useful to try to make enemy gods stop chasing you, giving them a little knockback or simply damage proposes. You may suffer a little at the beginning 'cause this attack is a little slow, so you will need practice (and lucky) to hit far targets.
Trident
Type: Buff
Cooldown: 20-12 secs
Extra shots damage: 30/40/50/60/70
(+ 20% of your magical power)
Extra Movespeed: 10/15/20/25/30%
Poseidon turns his trident, allowing him to fire extra 2 shots on each basic attack. Additionally, Poseidon gains movespeed to race around the map. All these buffs have a lifetime of 6 secs.

details
A useful skill that enhances your basic attacks. After using your other skills, this is a nice way to finish your target. Use it with moderation at early/mid-game due to the mana consumption to help you stack your passive. Due to the movement speed it provides, you may activate this when someone comes to kill you.
Whirlpool
Type: Ground Target
Cooldown: 15-11 secs
Total damage: 90/150/210/270/330
(+ 90% of your magical power)
Tide Meter: -20%
Poseidon creates a Whirlpool that cripples and brings enemies to the center of it.

details
Nice area skill capable to kill to clear an entire wave. Put it in the middle of the wave. Also, the cripple it provides can really save you, or mess with enemies dependent on movement-abilities like
Tyr and his
Fearless. A good tactic is to cast this skill first, to cripple enemies and then the Kraken, else they can jump out of the Kraken.
Release the Kraken!
Type: Ground Target (Ultimate)
Cooldown: 90 secs
Damage: 175/210/245/280/315
(+ 45% of your magical power) (Damage 2x in the center)
Tide Meter: -30%
Poseidon releases the Kraken, that damages and slow all enemies in the area after a short preparation time. People in the center of Kraken take the damage twice and are also stunned and knocked up into the air.

details
If you hit exactly the center, probably one of the best skills in the game. Knock up + stun and big damage! As said, try to cast
Whirlpool first, crippling enemies, and then you cast this skill because this skill takes a few seconds to be cast and if the enemy has a movement skill he can easily go away at least of the center. If you miss the center of Kraken, you will see that this skill doesn't provide much damage or bonus since the slow minimum.
Thank you :3
Comments below this are from Season 8 and the ones above from Season 9!
Like, how can you recommend Book which hasn't been meta on Pos for a while now, but wouldn't suggest Doom Orb, especially after recent buff?
And ı dont have any major opposition too. Well done.
I think the new lifesteal ring can be a decent option but I wouldn't trade Brancroft for it, Pos, after lvl 5, with bancroft, has a giant kill potential with his ulti. Do you have something in mind that wants to share DV?
But he can be played fine in duo like Merlin and some other mages or flexed in Jungle.
Also going mage adc items on him is functional to an extent but not the most optimal.

Still good guide tho. +1
Someone in my team suggested that I build gem of isolation earlier to get the slows going sooner and then I also got to thinking that to sort of mitigate his squishiness that I would build more health with power for him there. The last two games I have done pretty well with this setup just learning him.
I get a bit of lifesteal early and a good chunk of extra health and then for first relic I take
Thank you for your +1 :3
Just pointing this build wasn't made for arena, it is for "Mid Laners" which means it was thought exclusively for Conquest. You may use the build in other modes and it also may work but you will have to make some adjustments like the one you did with
Thanks for the feedback.

yeah, i know, but you gave a lot of good general information for him that has helped me, so still deserving of the +1, despite not for my preferred game mode :)
An ideal Pos build is something like:
If u need obs shard swap tahuti for it, or if u need divine ruin then swap magus for divine and lategame get obs shard instead of tahuti, or go something like: CDR boots > magus > divine > shaman's > reaver > obs shard.
