So is it now preferred to pick this item up, over Shoes of the Magi, if your main focus is clearing minion waves?

It isn't a preference. It depends on god and overall build path, though it is a better option than before since the buff.

Doesn't really change how you'd choose between the two. Both got a boost. There was only a 5 power difference between the two before. Gives a bit of help for early game if you choose either shoes over a stacking item first.

SmiteFire & Smite

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat.
