Oh, and you asked about what's changed in the last year. Hmmm, a lot. I'm not the expert on all of this, and I only started playing Conquest recently, but I'll summarize some of the main things I can think of...
  • First, to see which gods are favored right now, going to point you to the Tier List section of the Conquest guide, here. Got links/references there to Incon, Weak3n, and others.

  • Hunters are back in the OP meta. They're being used again, not just ADC but also solo lane, and sometimes mid. Final builds have a lot more variety, but starting options are again extremely limited, with the Throwing Dagger -> Golden Bow start being almost necessary to counter the enemy for early lane clear, though the Transcendence start also sees some play (some still swear by it).

  • Jungle's back to old-school damage/mana/speed buffs.

  • Some gods have perhaps too much in their kit...mostly the newer ones. Susano has a lot of control and mobility, and the reworked Ratatoskr also has a ton.

  • Yup, a ton of new gods in the year since you've been gone.

  • Supports: Heartward Amulet and Sovereignty are somewhat out of the meta, and have been replaced by the more commonly chosen Breastplate of Valor + Bulwark of Hope. Less shared protections but people deal with it.

  • Relics replaced Actives. Free at level 1 and level 12, but they're nerfed versions of the higher-level Actives.

  • Some major changes to previously existing items include Bloodforge, Heartseeker, Soul Eater, Brawler's Beat Stick on the offensive side. On the defensive side, a lot of items got separated either into protection or health, not as much of both...including Stone of Gaia, Runeforged Hammer. Pretty much all CDR items got minor nerfs to the %. Protection reduction items ( Spear of the Magus, Demonic Grip, The Executioner) got seriously nerfed. Crit items mostly got nerfed a bit.

  • Besides item tree shuffling, new items include Genji's Guard, Gauntlet of Thebes, Mantle of Discord, Masamune, Oni Hunter's Garb, Spear of Desolation, Stone Cutting Sword, and Wind Demon. Many of these are a bit underwhelming to me, other than perhaps Genji's Guard and Wind Demon...and maybe Mantle of Discord in specific circumstances. But I'm not the counter-building expert that Zilby is =P

That's all I have off the top of my head.

Well Zilby just forwarded me something talking about the practical use of Sovereignty. So, I think Breastplate of Valor is still somewhat meta, but isn't necessarily the best early physical protection choice. Other than that, I think my info is okay... =P

SmiteFire & Smite

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.
