Skill Order

Standard Leveling Up Order (For Conquest)

  • Start with Tidal Surge due the lower cooldown and same damage of Whirlpool.

After that, follow this priority
  1. (For wave clear and high damage while cripples the enemy)
  2. (For movespeed and increase your passive)
  3. (For damage proposing only)

  • As soon as available to enhance the damage

Burst Damage Leveling Up Order

  1. (For wave clear and high damage while cripples the enemy)
  2. (For extra damage on your combo)
  3. (For movespeed and increase your passive)

  • As soon as available to enhance the damage

Skills Combos

Wave clear

More than enough to clear the wave. Put Whirlpool in the center of the wave to clear it and finish with Tidal Surge if you really feel you need it, 'cause you will waste so much mana clearing the wave, so I recommend finishing with basic attacks whenever possible. With Book of Thoth full stacked you will have a lot of mana, so then you can start casting this without thinking about your mana.

Poking your enemy

Whirlpool will force your enemy to stop hitting you (mainly with basic attacks) and start to move out of it, then you upgrade your Trident and try to hit him with all three basics.

Killing your enemy

Whirlpool will cripple your enemy while does damage, then you RELEASE THE KRAKEN! And since your enemy is crippled you can put the center exactly on your enemy, then after the knockup you fire Tidal Surge and activates Trident to gain some movespeed to chase the enemy and some extra basic attacks.

How to play

Early Game

  • You are WEAK and an easy target until level 3/4 and 5, SO AVOID FIGHT, unless it's inevitable.
  • Try to clear the wave as soon as possible, and try to don't take damage from the wave. If the enemy cleared his wave first, retreat to your tower.
  • High recommend you take the damage buff. If you see that there is a chance of the enemy take your buff, then do it even before your jungler comes. If this chance is not possible, wait for him (if he takes too long to do it, do it by yourself).
  • In teamfights try to participate from some distance and run for your life using Trident if someone focuses on you.
  • PUT WARDS ON THE MAP to avoid be Ganked!!.
  • Poke your enemy as soon as possible (See the "poking combo" on Combos Section) and be careful doing it, he might call for help and put you in serious trouble.
  • FOCUS ON FARMING, you need to get big as soon as possible so every farm you see, do it if possible (camps or minions waves), especially the camps on the right and left side of mid-lane.
  • Be careful to don't die. IF THE ENEMY GETS BIGGER THAN YOU, YOU WILL SUFFER SO MUCH.
  • Ask for help every time you need it, and don't do anything that can compromise yourself.
  • Remember that you have a low health pool and 0 defenses early game, so "be smart".

Mid-Game

  • Now you do decent damage, probably you are killing a minions wave without problems using Whirlpool.
  • Now it's time to become a little aggressive. Your damage scales very well now (mainly with the build I did). You will see your basic attacks (with Trident) doing very good basic attacks, and it surprises the most of the enemy. The squishy target should be dying extremely easy for you if you hit your entire combo (including the center of Kraken). Time to shine.
  • Don't hold krakens, if Kraken is ready then use it. Go for ganks to use it or if you see an enemy in a bad spot, go for it.
  • REMEMBER THAT OBJECTIVES ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN KILLS, so it's time to start to rotate, taking down towers, and kill with your team jungle bosses such as gold fury and fire giant.
  • ALWAYS try to participate in teamfights now, 'cause your skills ARE VERY USEFUL to the team and do VERY GOOD damage.
  • Now it's a nice moment to start rotating to surprise enemies and release some Kraken!!!

Late Game

  • Time to group up.
  • Now you are stronger than ever, so, time to keep shining.
  • Use wisely your skills now, 'cause they are powerful and can change the games' destiny.
  • Stay with your team helping them and now, more than ever, participate in the team fights combining your skills with theirs.
  • Unfortunately, you are very squishy, so YOU DIE VERY FAST at late game, BUT, you can counter it by playing safe behind your teammates. So, as long as you don't try to be a front line and stay together with your team, you will still be a killing machine.
  • As you should notice, a single Whirlpool combined with the center of the Kraken can also kill a full health squishy target, so use it wisely.
  • Try to keep you passive always full or almost full 'cause if someone turns to you, you can activate Ayrton Senna mode, I mean... Trident and just run away.

Final Considerations

"Forward tide water!!" - Poseidon

My conclusion is that Poseidon is a good and easy god to play and is very welcome on mid-lane and can be fun to play with him as ADC. Building him right and playing with him right, I'm almost sure you will always have a positive KD and will have a good match. He is probably the easiest mid to carry a game, once fed, there's no coming back to the enemy due to your insane pressure with ulti + whirlpool.

Follow the guide I posted here, you will do a nice job with him.

So let's go now, let's release a lot of krakens!

I'd recommend Nimble over Calamitous on Pos, or at least as an alternative.

Uhm, yes? 2850 gold for 145 power? (165 stacked). 6% movement speed (11% stacked) great for rotations/farming, MP5 makes it hard to go OOM, mage flat pen got nerfed, why wouldn't you build it? Especially on Pos?

Like, how can you recommend Book which hasn't been meta on Pos for a while now, but wouldn't suggest Doom Orb, especially after recent buff?

Do you feel that the ADC build could use some adjustments or do you still like how it is?
1
xmysterionz (71) | April 3, 2020 5:59pm
Tbh I didn't even remember that this build exist LOL!!!

I think the new lifesteal ring can be a decent option but I wouldn't trade Brancroft for it, Pos, after lvl 5, with bancroft, has a giant kill potential with his ulti. Do you have something in mind that wants to share DV?

I was just looking for build ideas for Mage ADCs. Just seeing what builds you like.

It is a pretty nice build. However, a big downside is the lack of mana sunstainment pretty much throughout the whole game. You might want to swap out Spear of Desolation for Chronos' Pendant and get Shoes of the Magi
1
xmysterionz (71) | February 2, 2020 5:37pm
Yeah, that was a flaw from the old build, but these builds to Season 7 are more optimized than S6

silentshell (5) | September 27, 2019 6:12am
So, I was looking over your guide and it made a lot of sense to try out the fast attack speed build to keep the tide built up for escapes but I had a horrible match. After how bad I did on my initial try in arena I tried the other build but did not do so well either.

Someone in my team suggested that I build gem of isolation earlier to get the slows going sooner and then I also got to thinking that to sort of mitigate his squishiness that I would build more health with power for him there. The last two games I have done pretty well with this setup just learning him. Magic Shoes Tiny Trinket at the start of the match and then build full Shoes of Focus Gem of Isolation Spear of the Magus Shaman's Ring Ethereal Staff Soul Gem

I get a bit of lifesteal early and a good chunk of extra health and then for first relic I take Purification Beads and then Heavenly Wings because he can get bursted down so fast I've been doing better just to pop that and run if I can't get away with the 3, the 3 and the ult and/or having high tide. it is a small sample size but the two matches with this build were 3/0/12(win with 25 totat team kills) and 6/0/8(18 total team kills) both wins. Was tentative first match and low damage but more assertive but not overly aggressive and got second place damage with 43k second game. Even though I am using a different build you have my +1 because of all of your good information in the guide. If you have any input for me that would be great as well.

Hellow Silent,

Thank you for your +1 :3
Just pointing this build wasn't made for arena, it is for "Mid Laners" which means it was thought exclusively for Conquest. You may use the build in other modes and it also may work but you will have to make some adjustments like the one you did with Gem of Isolation.

Thanks for the feedback.

yeah, i know, but you gave a lot of good general information for him that has helped me, so still deserving of the +1, despite not for my preferred game mode :)

I'd swap soul gem for tahuti in your build, especially considering you got shaman's, since tahuti passive buffs shaman's passive.

An ideal Pos build is something like: Shoes of Focus , Spear of the Magus, Shaman's Ring, Ethereal Staff (or gem of iso against low moblity teams), Soul Reaver, Rod of Tahuti.

If u need obs shard swap tahuti for it, or if u need divine ruin then swap magus for divine and lategame get obs shard instead of tahuti, or go something like: CDR boots > magus > divine > shaman's > reaver > obs shard.
1
silentshell (5) | September 27, 2019 7:38am
Yeah was thinking the same thing with ruin and then obs for soul if needed. I went with soul at the end for even more health/the burst/lifesteal because I was thinking all that health with those benefits from soul and the borrowed health from ethereal would really help arena survivability. The 30% cooldown for the build is nice too although from what I have seen 20% would probably be fine. I don't need much convincing to try out Tahuti. I try to fit that in if possible in any magical based god I can that i play. I will probably do that at times after I get more work in with him. I didn't realize Shaman's synergized with Tahuti like that. Thanks for the input.

Hey Myst, is polynomicon good on Poseidon in a book of thoth build?
1
xmysterionz (71) | May 19, 2019 1:13pm
Well I wouldn't use it. You usually cast your 3 then kraken, then 1 or 2 (or both), so I really don't if it would be that useful since his combos are usually applied very quickly without a basic attack between the casts. I wouldn't recommend it, there are better options though it can work in some cases if you look for (even more) burst.
