Notes Build made for when you face tanky comps or tanks are your problem in the game, w keying you/focusing you. This build absolutely melts them. Since the nerfs on %pen items hit, you may actually need this on a situation as mentioned.

after you allready own 5 items or more consider getting The Ferocious Executioner as your glyph option.

You may pick Toxic Blade as an option against lifesteal and HP regen in general. Your last 2 items are situational, so replace them if needed.

Random Facts

  • Danzaburou was the last god release in 2020 and in Season 7.

  • One of Danzaburou's other jokes, "I once hid as a tea pot, but someone took me and locked me away for a year. Never again." is a reference to the tale of Bunbuku Chagama, which tells of how at a temple called Morin-ji [ja] in Kōzuke Province (now Gunma Prefecture), the master priest (abbot) owns a chagama (tea kettle). When the priest sets the kettle on a hearth, the kettle sprouts a head and a tail (or legs as well), and turns into a half-badger, half tea-kettle creature.

  • The Danzaborou Ascended Skin card art makes a reference to the myth of the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons. In the skin full card art there are the following yokais Gashadokuro, Rokurokubi, Chochin-obake, Kasa-obake, one of Kuzenbo's Kappas, and Kitsunes carrying the platform where Danzaburou is standing. You can see them all only on the full card art.
Art by Charleyfox via DeviantArt

Art by Bomine via Artstation
  • From all the season 7 gods with an Ascended skin, only Danzaburou and Mulan don't use a red color scheme.

  • The sake bottles that are hanging around Danzaburou's waist are an allusion to how Tanukis in their myths are depicted with large testicles.

  • Danzaburou's joke line "Do not compare me to a kitsune! We Tanuki are the best, don't you forget it!" is a reference to his hatred towards Kitsunes.

  • The name of his recolor is a reference to the "full name" of the yokai Bake-danuki.

  • The Kero Kero skin changes Danzaburou from a Tanuki to a Frog and its name is possibly a reference to the "ribbit" sound on Japanese language (I guess?).

  • Danzaborou was the first god to receive a skin above tier1 (recolor) at the release (he was launched with Don Zaburou skin).

  • Don Zaburou is the only skin where the entire name of the skin sounds exactly like the god's name itself, except with slightly different spelling and two words.

  • On the that Skin Danzaburou is a common Raccoon. Although both animals are similar, to the point of western media translating Tanuki to Raccoon, they are in fact not the same. This skin shares its theme with Crime Boss Kuzenbo.

  • One of Danza lines on Uproarious Rocket on his crime boss skin, "Say hello to my little friend." is a reference to the movie Scarface. Crime Boss Kuzenbo, which shares its theme with it, also makes the same reference to this line when firing a Nene.

Final considerations

"So there's many powerful gods, all warring against each other. So you call on me. The magical raccoon dog. Interesting decision."

Art by Bomine via Artstation

My final considerations are that he is incredibly fun/funny to play and is one of the best ADCs ever. He is not the easiest hunter and might take a while to learn him but he also isn't the hardest.

If you follow the tips and the builds here I'm sure you'll be THE TRUE LEGENDARY TANUKI and will kick everyone's butts on your game!!

Spell the Tanuki's name correctly in the title XD

Also...might want to revise the title in other ways, since there's now a 2nd Hunter that utilizes the grass...

What's the starting build? Or rather what potions do I generally start with? Most detailed/in depth guides have walls of text but never a starting build.
Also what do I upgrade the Deathbringer into? I usually go Malicious because haha Fool's Gold go boom, but I want to make sure I'm doing it right because Envenomed is also pretty attractive.
Also also you can't Upgrade Fool's Gold on level 8

Branmuffin17 (384) | January 19, 2023 3:53pm
Potions are typically your choice, but I can agree that having people dictate starting item suggestions in their builds can be especially helpful for newer players.

DT is 650 gold, and T1 Devo's is 600, so you're left with quite a bit of cash at the start. While you could load up on up to 5 potions, I would personally default to 4 and save a bit of cash. With DT, you've got some reasonable mana sustain, so initial pref would be to start 3 Healing Potions and 1 Multi Potion, though that Multi could be switched for a Mana Potion instead. If you think you're going to be boxing a bit more early game, consider going Mana potion for more ability use. If you really, really want, you can use the last 50 gold and grab another potion of your choice.

For universal function, Malicious Deathbringer is very nice, and since you get some CC out of your 1 and 2, having those up more often for teamfights can be really nice. If you're specifically having problems with, say, 1 tanky frontliner or jungler, Envenomed Deathbringer is probably going to be nicer for control and to decrease your damage intake a bit. Either is fine technically.

xmysterionz (70) | January 18, 2023 5:09am
You can hold a point at level 8 and upgrade both 1 and ulti at level 9. It's on the notes.
2
xmysterionz (70) | January 18, 2023 5:08am
Both Deathbringer glyphs can work and that's why I didn't choose one specific. Malicious if you need more often your taunt and 3 (usually for self peeling) and the other one if looking for better boxing potential.
2
xmysterionz (70) | January 18, 2023 5:05am
It's because usually we believe people will kinda figure out based on the full build, but in this case, it's basically Death's Toll + tier 1 gauntlet. For potions you usually will get 2 Healing Potions and 2 multi potions. Remember your start does Regen mana on basics so mana potions may not be a smart decision, plus, more healing means you can be more aggressive and still be able to stay in lane.

Build only for premade play. Randoms will not give u stacks, info - 100%.
Thats why i hate stacking builds alltime.
1
xmysterionz (70) | August 10, 2021 8:12am
I mean, there's literally a build called Non-stack which as the name suggest has no stack items :P
Plus, I don't think it's a problem to stack in conquest unless either your support is trolling or he is just a complete brain-dead person.
1
Kriega1 (142) | August 10, 2021 7:52am
Stacking shouldn't be an issue in Conquest, but I wouldn't stack now anyway.

Good guide, my build is almost exactly the same as your standard build but with gilded arrow starter and executioner instead of titans bane; I’m assuming you sell boots late game for dominance like I do which is why it’s tacked on as a 7th item. Works wonders and I would imagine this build plays similarly.
1
Kriega1 (142) | April 24, 2021 12:01pm
I'd go Executioner as a boots replacment over Dominance. Dominance isn't really worth building unless you're trading Devourer's for it which is an issue in of itself.

Though you could do Cowl, Ninja, Dominance, Obow, Qin's, Hunter's Cowl, Titan's Bane and selling boots for Exe.
