Introduction

Set, The Usurper

In this guide I'll introduce you to a real kingslayer, a selfish and ambitious god called Set.

The play style with Set is not that complicated as you thought, his 1st ability Skewer can do massive damage if combined with his 2nd ability Spawn of Set, he can also engage with 3rd ability Sandstorm to have physical damage reduction or blink way to disengage with it.
He can also do even damage with his 4th ability Kingslayer to mark up enemy gods to deal burst damage at the count of 4 stacks of his rage and heal himself.

Set is the kind of god you can throw yourself in the middle of 5 enemy gods and deal the amount of damage you want and keep healing with no trouble and chase'em till their very end.

Pros / Cons

PROS

Good Clear
Agressive
Low Cooldowns
Good Engage/Disengage
Spawns works as Wards
Immunity to slow

CONS

High difficulty
Squishy if built full damage
Necessary mechanics

Season 7, The Team Fight Meta and how we should Play. Do you know the way, my brother?

Hey lads, here I'm again to explain how Set works in this new season, so prepare your popcorn, take a confortable seat and ease your mind i will, 'cause now is time to learn "how to play with the Slayer of Kings".

Set was the first god released along with another god, Horus in Smite. They both have interaction with their passives and in my opinion, the Kingslayer has the better one.

This new meta benefits then both and let explain a little thing. Smite is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, which means that all the time we have to engage in fights, but this new season the team fight meta changed a little with the Conquest Map and the buffs/nerfs on the farming. It's easy to see that early game junglers contribute more for the team than late game gods. The presence in the jungle and the ganks are even needed than before.

Usually, the team fights start at 10min of game and take a long way till it's very end and sometimes the rest for the jungler is between the farming and back to fountain to buy items.

So, you're talking about Set, but why talking about the season meta?

Simple, this Season is made for early game junglers that can switch between farming and ganking as quick as possible and even keep the pressure for late game team fights and this is why the some junglers are in the new meta, such as Bastet, Hun Batz, Thanatos, Camazotz, Susano, Thor etc.

If built right, Set can stay in a very long and tough fight and help as he can. It's notorious how he can get in a fight with 3 or more enemy gods deal damage and get out unpunished. This not means he's an top tier god in the game but he's still fun and a good pick to be played.

A Build to focus his rage

THE CHOOSING OF MY ITEMS

A new season has arrived and we need to stay apart of the buffs and nerfs in the jungle scenario.

I've been playing a while with our ruler and i'm able to say that he's balanced and ok to be played. There are people who prefer him on Solo Lane and will ask me for builds but calm down young ones, i'm JUNGLER. I can say nothing about the "Island Lane" because i've never played Set in this role, but you're welcome to comment in the discussion session and i may add when i see it.

Now that i just have explaned a couple of things, let's head on and leave my thoughts.

The beginning of the game pick up Assassin's Blessing, Morningstar, 3 Healing Potion and 1 Mana Potion. This start try to focus on building Transcedence stacks as soon as possible after finishing the power boots. Also, we got three potions to heal and one to mana 'cause of his lower mana consumption.

After backing to fountain and buying Warrior Tabi keep doing some rotations and farming, till you buy Transcedence, it's power spike and mana + 10% CD, take your time to stack and call your team to slow down the team fight if you want. On the flip side, it's possible to build Crusher but your damage will lower a bit in late game. Once the second item is done the mid game is getting to start.

The team fight fase takes place and protections must be embraced and wield it as his own, then we take as 3rd item Void Shield which can help in many ways, 15% of enemy physical protection beeing reduced, some life/damage and even good protection.

Taking the same view of protections, you may want to grab both of those,Shift's Shield for damage and protections (Good for long teamfights) or Runic Shield against magical, you can lead either ways to be more tanky. Even Magi's Cloak or any item of mantle tree is welcome.

As the 6th item, Heartseeker must be on, no questions, OP AS F**K and good on each physical god.

After the Elixir of Speed is bought, you can go for even defenses or take more damage, my preference stands on Bloodforge but anything will suit Set at this point of the game.

Instead of heartseeker you could get hydras as cdr is really good on set, plus the passive procs when u spam ur 2 in ult

Or you could build both. But I would prioritise Heartseeker over Hydra's.

heartseeker does more damage combined with set's spawn, skewer and aa than hydra's spawn, skewer and aa

First of all, thanks for reply and make your argument.

Second, i'll refute your argument for replace Hydra's Lament for Heartseeker.

Hydra's Lament would be a nice to be placed instead of Transcendence but in this way you may lack of mana, the CDR is not the focus on Set.

In Solo Lane you can only count with the CDR of Gladiator's Shield.

Heartseeker is a lategame item due to its high price, if you're looking for early game pressure, build Hydra's Lament as third item and forget about the lategame item Bloodforge and its powerful passive, power spike and lifesteal.

I made a test at training area and i've done a total damage of 1018 with Hydra's Lament after using Spawn of Set, Skewer and AA. Then i made the same test for Heartseeker and got a total damage of 1116.

To put all in a nutshell, i rather recommend to put Hydra's Lament as a situational item instead of core item.

Why not test a build with trans/bloodforge/hydra's/heartseeker?

e.g. Warrior > Crusher > Trans > Hydra's > Heartseeker > Bloodforge?

going to agree with you that it's more of a trans replacement. btw don;t forget where trans gives you a bigger pool hydras gives you more regen and is cheaper. so yes you will run into maan problems however you can stay longer in lane due to the regen it gives in periods you don;t have to spam as much abilities

why level your 2 over 3? You get no added DMG and when you ult you can spam 2.
:) Suggestion to think over.

I have stopped building this guide but i'm starting to think about rebuild rn. Also bout the question, my motivations to level up Spawn of Set over Sandstorm is that i can spam my spawns over and over again when the Kingslayer is being used and them just simply dont disappear after 8s.

The probability of using Sandstorm to deal damage is lower than to use to engage or disengage and the damage reduction is 15% on all levels.
