Hello people of the SMITE community. I am the God of Vengeance and this is my first guide on this site. I hope you like the build. Please do not hesitate to give me some feedback. I'm open to see some changes in this build.
Erlang shen is very fun and takes a bit to get use to. I do not claim to be an expert on him, but I've tried multiple builds and this is what seems to work for me the best after testing it.
Pros
- good damage
- high sustain
- crazy attack speed
- good chase/escape potential
- great ultimate
- nice passive
Cons
- doesn't do well against high cc teams
If you get stunned by a ranged damage build God and they are to far away for a quick counter after you get out of it I suggest you should take a tactical retreat. Most mages are a annoyance erlang's existence.
Look out for ranged gods who have slows such as Kukulkan, anubis, or izanami and also the fatalis passive. They can stay out of your range while they kill you, if you have your ult then you should use it. If you do not have the ultimate wait for them to use their cc ability or when there escape is down then go in as fast as possible. Some advise, if there is a Freya wait for her ranged attack to go down or she will melt you.
Then gods who have little to no escapes, such as Zeus. If there is none, target gods without stuns/roots. And finally if there aren't any of those target the closest gods already in a fight.
The best gods to pick a fight with are:
Ah puch
Vulcan
Xbelanque(usually not a threat but be careful of his escape and or fatalis)
Loki
Sun wukong
Odin(when jump is down)
Zues (while shield is down)
Ah muzen cab
And other gods along those lines
Try to surprise burst gods like zues and ao kuang.
Stuns and roots from close range fighters - assassin's like nemesis, and most of the Warriors - are not as much of a threat as the ranged, because if you survive the cc they will be close enough for you to do some serious counter damage to them.
Get the first two hits of your combo, which I will explain later in this guide, and you should have no problem in a 1v1 fight or even a 1v2 against most of the gods late game.
Relics that are effective
- Beads
so the enemies cant lock you down with their cc easily
- Curse
helps chase/get away
-Sprint
helps chase/get away
Starter
Death's Toll
This item procs on the dogs basic. 12 health 4 mana each hit. Amazing sustain early game
1st Item
Warrior Tabi - for movement speed and damage
Ninja Tabi - if you want some more attack speed
2nd and 3rd Item
Breastplate of Valor - to help with cooldown reduction and physical gods
Frostbound Hammer - Great Item that helps you stick on the enemies with the slow. Gods without escapes are in trouble
4th Item
Hide of the Urchin - great item to keep you alive due to the great protections and health
5th Item ( choose between Jotunns Wrath or Qin's Sais )
Jotunns Wrath - for pen and cooldown
Qin's Sais - for attack speed and to take out tanks faster
^
Last Item ( whatever you didn't choose for your 5th item ^ )
1st combo - dash in as mink form and pin to keep them from moving and then activate spot weakness to stay on the target and if necessary you can ult the enemy god(s) to keep them there
2nd combo - if they are close dash in as turtle form then use your pin then use spot weakness and if necessary you can ult the enemy god(s) to keep them there
Be careful if you decide to use this combo early game since this build doesn't come online till your 3rd/4th item
These are the gods I feel that work the best with Erlang

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

Your cons is so basic. Everyone can get screwed over by hard CC. Try to be more specific, like that
EDIT: I forgot to mention the lack of magical defense in your build. You might want to provide some magical defense options in case its the mage that is being the carry for the enemy team.
I'm going to have to side with GGF on this one, due to some specific things.
- Erlang is absolutely a basic attacking god. This is not only backed up by the functionality of his kit, but by his very quick initial attack string (.75/0.75/0.75/1.1/.9x progression).
- With attack strings at below 1 (the first 3 attacks!!!),
Qin's Sais is absolutely an essential item. However, you really, REALLY lack penetration, and guess what, although
The Executioner requires stacks, but it's very easy to get those full with that quick attack string. Just need to really get across that your current build ABSOLUTELY lacks pen/protection reduction.
- Most of his kit supports basic attacks (his abilities mostly focus on him attacking a single target). His
Spot Weakness gives him a
Hastened Fatalis effect plus additional damage, and lasts for 5 seconds. His
Pin can hit multiple enemies, but isn't MEANT for that...it's to lock down an enemy so you can close the gap. His
72 Transformations ES is likely to be used only once in a fight, to either help close gap with the benefit of the attack speed buff, chase, or escape...not as a main damage source. None of this calls out that CDR is an essential stat for him. CDR is also more specifically helpful if you're a teamfighter, to help use AOE abilities and whatnot...and again, that's not Erlang.
- In a way, CDR is never a bad thing. However, anytime you build items with CDR, you're compromising on something else...and you want to get the most you can out of your basics. Sure, the high power from Jotunn's is nice...but don't rely on the measly 10 flat pen as your only pen source...and it still ends up not being the strongest choice for a basic attacker.
So, really, the core offensive items (generally) areThe other essential items you generally want are boots (
Depending on how you decide, this leaves you with 1 or 2 extra slots. You could go for lifesteal (e.g.
But again, really suggest moving away from CDR as much as possible. If you want 1 item, fine...but maxing CDR? Leave that to ability-based gods.
