Basic Stuff

I'll just make this relatively quick. Cernunnos is crazy insane if you can get to late game. His Shifter of Seasons gives him Lifesteal(Spring), Extra Damage(Summer), Built-in Penetration(Fall), and Slows!(Winter). The extra damage he gets for every single hit is why I build bows and attack speed in his builds.

Combos/Shifter of Seasons Usage

Combos

There aren't very many combos for Cernunnos since he's mainly a basic attack god, however there's basically two(thanks branmuffin) you can use.

Combo with Ultimate:

->

This next one should only be used if you have an advantage, or you know their escape is down and you won't get massively ganked by a Cabrakan or something.

Horn Charge Combo:

Use the Horn Charge to go through the enemy.

Then turn around and use Bramble Blast on them!

As Kriega pointed out, the season stances could also be used in combos, so I'll try and get something for that, too.

Using Shifter of Seasons

How you use Shifter of Seasons can really determine how good you are at Cernunnos. A good user knows which shift is next, and where he is on the seasons. Here are some guidelines to using the ability throughout the game.

Early Game

Mid Game

End Game

That's all I've got for you today!

Hi Ramses,

I've been playing a good amount more Cern lately than I ever did (which wasn't much). I like the majority of your build and writeup in general, but have some specific points.
  • Although Devourer's Gauntlet is his good standard itemization, I feel Transcendence builds with Asi as the lifesteal can also work well. He needs just a tad less lifesteal early due to the presence of Spring Shifter of Seasons. Granted, it's not much, but it + some potions are better than a lot of other regular hunters. If you don't like that direction, that's fine, but feel it's good to point out. Trans builds with Asi beat out Devo's builds late-game, and just a bit of extra CDR is never a bad thing either.

  • I haven't played him since the 6.5 patch, but in 6.4 I often liked building Ichaival 3rd, followed by The Executioner 4th, at least when I could get away with it. I found it to be amazing for mid-game boxing. Sometimes I'd skip Devo's and Trans, get Tabi, then into Ichaival and Asi. The higher price (it wasn't all that cheap to begin) is now putting it at the border of being more late-game, but situationally I think it's still fine. But here, I'm not sure I like your limitation of possibly getting Ich 3rd, but not being able to get Exe 4th, the way your presentation shows.

  • The rest of the item options are generally fine.

  • With regard to skill leveling, I personally would suggest skipping putting additional levels into the ult until you run out of other options. Each additional rank is only 50 damage, while you get a lot of additional function out of more ranks in Shifter of Seasons, and both damage and CDR in your escape, Horn Charge. That's perhaps just my opinion, but I just see more benefit in the other skills.

  • In your combos section, no offense but that's NOT all for the combos. There's one more regular one you can use. When you've got an advantage, and especially when you know their escape is down (or they don't have one), close on the enemy, then Horn Charge through them, turn around, and root them with Bramble Blast. They then have to go deeper into enemy territory or go through you to retreat.

  • In the early game, you might still find yourself being able to be aggressive. In this case, it's not just about Spring's lifesteal for health sustain or Summer's miniscule bonus damage. In that case, you might find some decent use out of Winter's control as well, but you don't mention it.

  • In the Runeforged build, I might personally suggest getting Ninja Tabi over Warrior. You get some AS from the Blessing, but Devo's nor Rune provide any AS, and it might be appreciated.

  • Also in any non-crit build that focuses reasonably on AS really should be getting Qin's Sais. That should be a core item. All of your item options in your typical machine gun build that don't include Qin's have lower DPS than with Qin's. Your best combo out of all of those options would be a final build of Devo's, Exe, Ich, Qin's, Silver, and Atalanta's. You're capping AS in any of those iterations. You might even consider throwing Rune into the items, even on the one that's not the Rune-based build (where you're focusing on getting it as 3rd item).

Hey Bran!

I haven't played with Transcendence and I've got some stuff to do before I can, but that seems legit, so I put some builds using trans. I didn't quite know where to put Asi, but I put it somewhere.

I changed it so that you can see The Executioner now. I was just kind of assuming they would either pick The Executioner then or Ichaival based on composition, and not based on duo lane. My bad.

Changed the leveling.

Added your combo, but made sure that they knew they have to be positive they could pull it off.

Also added that. That's actually pretty useful for right now since Horus is everywhere, and he's somewhat mobile/good at engaging.

That was my mistake. I meant to do that, but it slipped my mind and I did Warrior Tabi.

Added Qin's Sais into all of the builds. I didn't think Qin's Sais were quite that effective, but I'll take your word on that right now.

(Apparently I don't know how to use bullet points)
Thank you!

Actually DON'T just take my word for everything. I'm super happy you're responsive and open to suggestions, but since this is YOUR build, I do suggest trying things a bit before making any official changes. Not that I'm not pretty confident in my suggestions here, but it's always good for the build creator to have experienced it themselves.

The bullet point function is actually right in the toolbar above the text box. It'll look like this:
Code:
[list][*]Point 1 [*]Point 2 [*]Point 3[/list]
If you don't want a space in-between bullet points, you can just do them the next row down, but if you DO want a space...you have to do 2 rows between, for some reason.

Qin's is just a super powerful tool for ADCs, and you'll almost always see it in a build that doesn't include crits (and isn't a funky build like the pros sometimes use).

Trans...well, you'll want to get the feel for it. Like I said, try it out. It's a big shift from Devo's, because you get used to the early lifesteal/sustain, and you will have to deal without it in the Trans build until you get Asi online. But I'm really, really liking Asi right now, and it has a better chance to save you in a fight compared to Devo's due to the passive.

One other quick thing...you can't get rank 5 of Bramble until level 9...so if prioritizing Shifter next, get that at level 8, and rank 9 of Bramble at 9.

"There aren't very many combos for Cernunnos since he's mainly a basic attack god, however there's basically one you can use." - what about using his different stances on his 1?

That's actually a valid point that I didn't think of. Thanks for the tip.

Someone willing to explain why smitefire considers this a guide? (writeup seems a bit short)

Gulfwulf (81) | May 2, 2019 7:18pm
It's based on word/character count, nothing else.

Devampi (105) | May 2, 2019 11:34pm
This eveb the title doesn't consider this a guide, however the count you have to hit is something like 10.000 charcaters which is nothing
