Revisiting Xing Tian during a free rotation, I figured he was a sh(ee)ty Guardian. I decided to make him more of a Warrior build. After fooling around the character about 10 Arena games and 3 Conquests (2 of them were Ranked), my best score in Arena was 10-0 Kd (plus kept my Kd positive in the other games) and held my ground on Conquest.
In Arena, either I start a fight, get in and get out scenario, and/or clean up an enemy God.
Conquest, common Warriors has a tough time pushing forward especially X-Tian has all of his abilities and the first three items.
~ Reasons of item choices ~
* Shoes of Focus = Cooldown and Movement
* Chronos' Pendent = Think of Jotunn's Wrath with no penetration yet better cooldown.
* Mystical Mail = Based on a pro-gamer's build on Warriors, this item freaking awesome. It gets the extra reach you need when you are chasing a God and it helps you to clear minions faster.
* Void Stone = Health + Magical Power + Penetration... 'Nuff said.
* Gem of Isolation = Think of Frostbound Hammer but ability based.
The Sixth item is up to you.
~ How I use my Abilities ~
* Furious Roar = The first 8 levels or so, this ability is used for minions 75% of the time. If you can line up your shot with an enemy God as well, bonus points.
* Hook Slam = Similar usage as 'Furious Roar', but least used. Mainly this ability is used for a beginning of a combo.
* Sky-Cutting Axe = 85% of the time it is used for getting out of a bad situation. Also, the ability can be used, as obvious, to clean up Gods.
* Whirlwind of Rage and Steel = Just listen to the song “Move B*tch” by Ludacris to get my drift.
~ Semi-Combo ~
Hook Slam > Furious Roar > Sky-Cutting Axe (either for escaping or clean up)
~ Full Combo ~
Hook Slam > Furious Roar > Whirlwind of Rage and Steel > Sky-Cutting Axe
OR
Hook Slam > Whirlwind of Rage and Steel > Furious Roar > Sky-Cutting Axe
Main Strategy =
Back up to the point, you know your 'Whirlwind of Rage and Steel' can snag and toss the enemy God into the tower. You can also use your teammate as bait for the combo. The 'Hook Slam' will keep them in place to give enough time to do the rest of your abilities.
In Conquest, I commonly start the combo by moving to the side of the minions and align the 'Hook Slam' hitting both minions and the enemy God at the same time. Most of the time I noticed the enemy player is not expecting it.
This combo is also good to push back the enemy Gods from advancing or saving your teammates.
Let me know if there anything I can improve on this build. Especially the next update/patch.
Thank you for reading this article.
A good Xing Tian solo build for conquest (Against Physical Solo): Shoes of the Magi, Breastplate of Valor, Mystical Mail, Shogun's Kusari, Spirit Robe, Gem of Isolation/situational. If against a Magical solo replace Breastplate with Void Stone and Mystical with Genji's Guard.
For your start: consider either Vampiric Shroud or Mark of the Vanguard, Shoes, 1 Chalice of Healing, and 2 Mana Potions.
-In Conquest, you never want to have a starting build without a starter item (or a tier 2 item that allows you to build into a core item sooner and forgo a starter item)- they offer a lot for the price of 800 gold, and the extra sustain granted from them will have helped more than 2 Chalices. Also a downside of having 2 Chalices means that you won't have any room for Wards, which you will want on your side of the map to alert you and your team of enemy presence, be it they go for a gank or an invade on your buff camps.
-Guardians in the solo lane don't perform well with defenseless and expensive items such as Chronos' Pendant, because the nature of solo lane gods is that you'll fight versus the other solo laner, and that you'll get ganked. You don't want to make it easier for the enemy team to kill you by opting for such an item on a guardian solo. The price of this item is a problem due to how your opposition will be able to quickly build magical protection items, and can get their build going sooner than you. If you wanted a high cooldown reduction item, Breastplate of Valor is a better option as it is cheap and grants you physical protections, mana, and MP5. The passive of Chronos' Pendant is not worth it on any guardian solo laner, to forgo any early defense for.
-Mystical Mail is another problem here. This will be your first defensive item in your build, but the problem is that it is expensive. And since you've already built an expensive item, you'll put yourself even more behind. The main appeal to this item, the damaging aura will become less relevant at this point since your opposing solo laner will already have built magical protections.
-I would improve this build for the solo lane by incorporating protections earlier, alongside with health and cooldown reduction.
The advantage it is used for is to provide the huge mana pool for early game mana sustain for ability spamming, along with the power to use as a foundation so you can concentrate on pen, CDR, etc. Late game, if you're going full out damage, you would see a higher damage gain from Rod of Tahuti, which you already list, making Book of Thoth irrelevant. No offense, but "whatever helps" seems like a lazy way to brush off a comment that is actually reasonable...and the fact they even spent time to comment in the first place is quite nice.
Other points...you have very little penetration of any type. In Conquest Solo, for example, you're likely to get the blue mana buff, which will provide you with 10% CDR. You're building Shoes of Focus and Chronos' Pendant back to back, which is just not that good for early aggression...the 10 pen from Shoes of the Magi is likely to help you more, unless you're just going to play passive. As such, I'd expect Soul Stone + Shoes of the Magi + blue buff would be better...if you really, really want additional CDR, Sands of Time would still be better than Focus + Chronos.
In Solo, it's usually better to build a counter-item to your lane enemy 2nd...if you're facing a physical god, okay, you have Mystical Mail...but you're prioritizing Chronos' Pendant before it. That might be somewhat okay if the enemy is a basic attacker like Osiris, due to Furious Roar's damage reduction on basic attacks, but if they're a bit more ability-based, it just seems like you're going to get blown up...the Sky-Cutting Axe protections are too low to be of much effect, as you're only getting it to level 2 when you hit level 9.
You also don't talk about Blink Rune. If you don't get it first, should probably be your 2nd option...probably.
Finally...your start is interesting. I won't comment that it might in fact work, but again...thinking a true starter is going to be waaaay better. If anything, you could probably make Soul Stone + Shoes + Chalice of Healing work, or Soul Stone + Bumba's Mask + potions. 2 Chalices means you're going to have to sell pretty early for wards (unless you just don't ward, lol), and you lose out on additional function starters give you...which are usually picked up for very good reasons.
This really makes me want to finish my guide so I can get your guys' feedback on it.
