Starting blink is a matter of confidence in your ability. No matter the game mode as you gain experience with Achilles Blink Rune will eventually become a must buy even against gods like Ares or Da Ji.
You can pick up consumables depending on the situation and game mode, for example on Joust I'd rather prioritize sustainability hence Chalice of Healing. Otherwise I never buy pots because in all honesty it's just a waste of gold and a slot, I'd much rather get ME a ward or 2.
About Rangda's Mask. If you're experienced with the god and trust your ability to play a mean Assassin Achilles this item Rangda's Mask is an absolute must! I cannot stress this enough people, this item makes you a killing machine, it's the go big or go home type of item for what it does. The 20% bonus damage is what makes it so insanely good on him and plus it has 15 penetration that Achilles' kit loves. This core build (mainly Rangda's Mask) is why I noted that you need to be a profound Achilles player to be able to fully utilize him as an assassin otherwise as noted below you'll be easily deleted 24/7 and a dead weight for your teammates.
The other 2 items are pretty self-explanatory; Achilles loves actives and the buff from his 2 Radiant Glory synergizes especially well with Hydra's Lament and The Crusher passives.
All boots can be used in different situations, it all depends on what you need at the time.
Talaria Boots can be seen as report worthy on Achilles but for me they fit my playstyle perfectly and as long as I kill people wearing them noone cares and if I fail to do so I'll sell and buy proper boots asap AND if I don't then I'm straight up inting and deserve to be reported.
I used to 1st buy Jotunn's Wrath all the time back in the day but over time it started to feel lackluster in comparison to any one of the current core items mentioned. It looks good on paper and the 20% cdr comes in handy but I don't feel like cdr is as important as it used to be a season or 2 ago imo also I just don't think it's worth prioritizing over The Crusher and Hydra's Lament because all 3 of the core items better synergyze with your kit and contribute to your damage way more.
The 2 Antihealing items are selfexplanatory
Heartseeker is what I buy when I need that extra little bit of damage to instakill a fed carry asap. It's strictly bought for that reason.
Void Shield is situational ill buy it for my hunter if he's good maybe...
Shield of Regrowth is cheap af and goes well with your ability healing from Radiant Glory you can build it after buying Elixir of Speed and selling your boots it gives you great chase potential thanks to the 40% ms increase and keeps you healthy after a skirmish in the jungle.
Last 2 slots are entirely situational!
Auto resets are extremely important with a build like that! If you don't auto reset your damages gonna be halved and the build is going to be completely useless. You'll have all the damage in the world and you wont be able to dish it out.
It will rarely make sense but you might consider picking this up only when you have an overall advantage over your enemy in terms of gold, level etc. never miss the chance to increase your spike and further bury your opponents.
Cheap and extremely useful against cc

Even tho Achilles was recently hit by the nerf hammer, his offensive playstyle is still without a doubt very much viable and he's still one of the remaining actual instagibbers in the game.
Before the nerfs Achilles' damage was kinda underappreciated and only a small portion of the player base knew that Achilles wasn't a bruiser nor was he a tank but an actual straight up assassin (I mean that was his strongest playstyle at the time). His numbers were so pumped up that you'd simply build Warrior Tabi Jotunn's Wrath Hydra's Lament and combo as follows Radiant Glory > Combat Dodge > Blink Rune > Shield of Achilles > Auto Attack > Combat Dodge (Spear) thats it 110% of the time that resulted in a dead carry. Another problem with him was not only was he super strong but he was super strong all the time, throught the entire game, I'd even go as far as to say that he didn't have notable weak points enemies could capitalize on unless he just fkd around way too much early/mid stages. His snowball potential was off the roof, nobody could stop this man once the core pene items came online. I imagine it was pretty frustrating to play against. In all honesty all of that hasn't changed too much after the nerfs but it definitely feels way more punishing to fall behind as Achilles now which is a good thing, it increases the gods skill ceiling and keeps the game healthier for everybody.
Now that he's nerfed you can easily start sorting the good from the bad Achilles players. The way he is now means that when you choose to play him full offense like this the smallest mistake could easily result in you being useless and 9xd and eventually god forbid banned for inting lol(that is unless midway you immediately switch to the def passive and build tank). Thankfully now just like before most people you match against don't expect Achilles to build full glass cannon which might actually be one of the main reasons why this playstyle works. In 99% of the time your enemies will expect a standard Blackthorn Hammer+ Gladiator's Shield bruiser build so most times it's less likely the focus to be on you but rather the mage, hunter or assassin in your team. This is kinda like the mindset behind playing him this way because while your enemies are busy focusing everyone but you by the time they take notice of what you're trying to pull off by building so much dmg you'll ideally have some sort of advantage over them and that should be enough to turn the table on them.
Persephone' ult Grasp of Death allows you to safely aim your Fatal Strike so.. good ****.
Aphrodite is your sugar mamma! 1v9ing late game is never as simple as when you luck out and get a good Aphrodite player in your team. She'll peel for you and keep your squishy *** alive.
The feeling of playing assassin Achilles with a good Aphrodite late game while listening to some good ole drumcode techno is the definition of top notch gaming experience.
PROS
|
+ Extremely strong if played to his full potential. + Very slippery with Combat Dodge and Fatal Strike they allow you to get in when trying to poke or when a potential kill is in sight and get away with it unscathed. + Easily the most flexible god in terms of itemization options and playstyles. + One of the true remaining instagibbers. + Perfect auto resets boost your damage output by an enormous amount. + Even assassins don't scale so well with penetration like Achilles does. + Strong in skirmishes. |
Achilles passive Gift of the Gods is probably his strongest suit and definitely one of the best warrior passives it gives Achilles a total of 325 health + 45 protections each in armoured stance and 6% movement speed + 43 power in unarmoured stance now thats hot, literally a whole item ahead both in a defensive and offensive ways. Dodging has never been easier and more satisfying with any other god thanks to his dashes and ultimate skills. Great sustainabilty in lane thanks to the ability healing you get from his 2 Radiant Glory plus the healing recently god a slight buff! |
CONS
|
- As soon as you buy Rangda's Mask it's all or nothing. - Assassin Achilles doesn't work as well as it used to so don't make mistakes but if you happen to then you should build bruiser! - You ARE going to feed for many games before you get used to playing Achilles like this. *Not an additional Con more like an add to the previous one* - If you don't auto reset your damage is halved. Don't expect to kill carrys with abilities alone, it does NOT work, autos are essential for your damage output! - Mana hungry early game. - CC shuts you down really hard. When you get hard cc'd in an awkward spot dont think about it just Fatal Strike out of there asap or it might be too late. |

In any case, as long as the skill leveling is not impossible, then this is okay. Thanks for fixing.
