Introduction

This is my first time posting a build so I am open to all suggestions and criticism. Also I will be updating this build relatively regularly.

Items - Hybrid Build

Main Build

Shoes of Focus
It has magic power for some early damage, the slight speed you kind of need for when you aren't rolling over minions and busting up enemy gods. The mp is a bit handy also but the main reason for these is the cdr. Geb can use Roll Out rather often but as for his other abilities he just can't use them often enough. When you get in a team fight and all you have up is Roll Out its not all that handy which is why you pick this up so you don't have this kind of situation as often.

Breastplate of Valor
You pick this up so that Geb can use shock wave more often because of the cdr and so that phys enemies are less of a nuisance. The mp it provides also helps with Gebs mp issues a bit.

Ethereal Staff
You pick this up so that Geb's massive amount of health increases his overall damage. It is an amazing item for him and fits well with some of the other items in this build. The mp, and base magical power are also handy but this lets you add on some health to buff your Stone Shield up while keeping up a bit of power.

Focused Void Stone
It adds on some magic protection that Geb desperately needs while increasing power and magic pen so enemies protections are a bit less effective.

Gem of Isolation
This item increases Geb's damage through the plain magic power it adds and through the health. The mp it adds helps with the issue off running out of mana.

Bulwark of Hope
This adds plenty of health to buff Geb's Stone Shield ability and add power through Ethereal Staff's passive. The magic protection it adds is also greatly needed to add survivability against mages and the such. Finally the passive adds overall survivability for a short time so you may hopefully extract yourself from the situation.

Situationals

Obsidian Shard
It adds pen just in case your attacks aren't quite making it through the enemies protections and some extra power

Chronos' Pendant
It is used to add magic power and some cdr in the unlikely case that phys protect isn't necessary. The mp regen is handy to make sure you can keep using abilities.

Demonic Grip
This item is here to add some magic pen in case you don't have enough and add on a bit of extra magic damage.

Mystical Mark
This item is for adding on a bit of health, damage based off of the health when used with Ethereal Staff, extra phys protection in case of large amounts of phys damage. The passive is also nice for dealing slight damage by being in the vicinity of enemies.

Wall of Absolution
To add phys protect when up against a team littered with high physical damage and it allows you to keep up a bit of damage.

Sovereignty
Adds lots of phys protect for teams that are hammering you down with phys damage. This is a little less likely because Geb boasts a generous phys protect progression although it is relatively low in the beginning.

Actives

Purification Beads
This is just in case you are facing a truly cc heavy team and are having trouble cleansing it with your Stone Shield or if there is simply too much cc to keep up with.

Fist of the Gods
If you really want another stun and to wipe out minions if you are crunched for time and don't want to use up an ability

Fully upgraded meditation
This is for healing and mana regen purposes in the case where your team has enough cc and you are not necessarily being cc locked.

Items - Tanky Build

Main Build

Reinforced Greaves
These add speed which is neccesary because unless Geb is using his Roll Out he is walking at the speed of a limp. They also add some protection on both sides and some health which is good for Geb because the health increases the helpfulness of his Stone Shield and it works well with the Ethereal Staff.

Sovereignty
This will let you catch Geb's early game phys protect up to his early game magic protect. The aura it provides is a massive help to allies and as stated before the health increases the effectiveness of both Geb's Stone Shield and the Ethereal Staff that we will pick up later.

Stone of Gaia
This item gives Great magic protect which is nice since Geb starts out with good magic protect but its progression is tiny. The hp regen provided by this item is amazing and allows you to stay in the field for an immense amount of time and the mp regen is handy seeing as how Geb is a bit of a mana sink

Ethereal Staff
This item is Geb's bread and butter. It adds good health, gives a bit of mana, a smidgen of magic power, and to top it all off it takes 2% of his max health and adds it onto magical power. This gives you a bit of extra damage so that you actually can deal a bit of damage other than the percent based damage of your Cataclysm skill.

Mystical Mark
This item adds on some more physical protections so that you will be truly tanky to that type of damage, it adds some more health to add survivability and increase effectiveness of your Stone Shield and Ethereal Staff, and then finally it gives you a damaging aura so that enemies just have to be near you to be hurt.

Pestilence
This item adds on even more health for your Stone Shield and Ethereal Staff. It also increases your magic protection and adds on an aura to disrupt your enemies healing whether it be from life steal or what have you.

Situationals

Bulwark of Hope
This item is a good replacement for Pestilence because it gives more health and about the same amount of protections. It's passive also adds a bit more survivability for when the going gets tough.

Breastplate of Valor
This item adds some cdr which is very helpful for your Stone Shield and Cataclysm ability. It also adds a good bit of phys protection and mp.

Hide of the Nemean Lion
This item is nice for foes like Xbalanque who base so much of their damage off of their basic attacks. It adds health but not much. The phys protection it adds is also quite nice but if you aren't really facing a fed Xbalanque or something similar I generally suggest something different.

Mail of Renewal
This item isn't real highly recommended because in comparison the phys protect isn't amazing but it does give some needed cdr with some decent health added. One factor that makes it more applicable is the passive which adds a lot of survivability as long as you are adding a bit of damage in team fights and your teammates can pile on the damage to finish it.

Magi's Blessing
This item adds slight protections on two sides and it grants immunity to one cc every 45 seconds. It also gives a decent bit of health and some cc reduction. It isn't really necessary in the slightest really as long as you can cleanse correctly and you have Purification Beads.

Actives

Girdle of Support
This item is cheap and it gives your allies a boost in the damage department for a relatively good amount of time

Salvation
This item allows you to replenish you and your allies health and mana which is a boon in team fights.

Fist of the Gods
This item adds a little extra cc even though you already have 3 but it can also help for eliminating minion stragglers.

Purification Beads
This item removes a cc and is handy although not completely necessary as your Stone Shield is also a cleanse.

Weakening Curse
This slows enemy move speed and nullifies their healing so they have a truly difficult time escaping or rendering life steal based builds null.

Blink
You can use this item in conjuncture with Cataclysm for initiation. I prefer to use Roll Out and then use Cataclysm but this is also an amazing strategy.

Items - Damage Build

Main Build

Shoes of Focus
These add the cdr that a damaged focused Geb needs so that he may use abilities other than his 1 often. The magic power and speed are also quite helpful for dealing damage and staying on the move.

Chronos' Pendant
This finishes up the cdr that you need to be able to use your abilities often. It also adds good magical power and adds mp regen to support the continued use of abilities.

[Ethereal Staff]]
This item adds on a bit of hp and mp to help you stay in the fight and the magic power it provides through the passive and native magic power help deal damage. Geb has quite a bit of health natively and this item takes advantage of that to add on plenty of damage.

Focused Void Stone
This item adds on the magic pen you need to deal with enemies with some protections as well as adding a bit of magic power. Then if you are like me at all you want a slight bit of protection at all times and so this item provides that.

Wall of Absolution
This item provides some phys protection just to add some slight survivability especially since a damaging Geb gets focused hard since he is such an large target. The magic power it adds just adds on to your damage. Then finally the mp regen helps you stay in the field longer without experiencing as heavy mp issues.

Gem of Isolation
This item adds on some extra hp for survivability, damage from Ethereal Staff, and to increase the effectiveness of Stone Shield. The mp is handy for field time longevity and then of course it adds on some extra damage and the passive keeps enemies closer so you can bash them to death.

Situationals

- A lot of these are good to switch the Wall of Absolution or Focused Void Stone out for. Those items are simply my personal preference showing through. For people who are more used to playing damage heavy builds these items are highly suggested over them.

Obsidian Shard
This item provides the necessary magic protections to carve through an enemies protections and it provides handy magic damage.

Rod of Tahuti
This item adds amazing amounts of damage via the 125 magic power and the extra provided through it's passive. The mp regen it adds helps counter the fact that Geb is a bit of a mp sink.

Warlock's Ring
This item item improves health which boosts the effects of Etheral Staff and Stone Shield. It also adds some magic power of its own and some mp to allow more ability uses.

Demonic Grip
This item adds some penetration to get through enemy protections and adds a bit of extra magic power to boot. The attack speed is welcome since there is a decent chance you will end up having to smack your opponent around with your basic attack.

Divine Wrath
This item adds some magical life steal for healing up off of creeps and it gives some magic power and mp to boot. The passive is also kind of handy to halt enemies from receiving as much health from their life steal and any other sources of health regen.

Actives

Meditation
This item helps combat the mana problems that you will likely encounter and adds a slight bit of survivability when fully upgraded because of the healing

Purification Beads
This helps against cc heavy teams although your stone shield does cleanse so it isn't quite as necessary as long as you can predict your enemies cc.

Skills

Passive

Hard as Rock - crits do an extra 25% damage against him instead of the usual 100%
This basically renders crit based carries worthless.

Abilities

Roll Out - turn into a boulder that runs over minions and stops when you hit a god. Builds speed and damage until it reaches max speed. slows enemies that are hit. At full speed knocks back enemy gods.

This is your chase, your escape, your initiation, and your strongest attack. It wrecks everything. This is great for ganking because it can launch an enemy into a tower, wave of minions, or your allies all while damaging the mess out of them. Its also handy for just traversing the map to quickly reach areas. Another perk is that it is wonderful for destroying a wave of minions. At first you may find it a little hard to control because enemy gods can strafe without way too much difficulty. It also isn't very useful when in the middle of a team fight or up close brawling because it can't reach it's full potential but it is still rather handy. Also when you reach max speed you become cc immune but before that happens a lot of gods like to attempt a cc to neutralize you so watch out for that.

Shock Wave - a wide reaching conical aoe. It does more damage to close enemies and when they are at range it does 50% of it's maximum. It also has a slight knock up.

This move is a magnificent minion killer and rather good damage overall. It is also handy because it has a slight knock up. This attack makes jungle Geb a possibility. Handy during battle whether it is a team fight or just a brawl. The cool down isn't terrible but it is one of the reasons I highly suggest some cdr.

Stone Shield - Applies a shield to either you or one of your allies. Also can cleanse cc. Adds an amount based off of it's level and an amount equal to 20% of your max health.

This thing is amazing. You can use it to go after some of the more risky kills or to take on a tower with no minions. It's also amazing to put on a friendly carry or mage to let them wreck face. It could potentially double their health. Also it is great for saving a friend who has low health. One thing to keep in mind is that at high levels and when you have plenty of gear it is often best used for it's cleansing ability not the damage mitigation.

Cataclysm - a big aoe centered on geb that stuns and deals damage based on a percentage of the targets CURRENT HEALTH not total health.

This attack is good but not amazing. It can easily hit a wide range of enemies but doesn't do much unless used at the very beginning of a fight. It is really helpful for taking the enemies down a notch right as a brawl is about to happen and it stuns them long enough to allow you or your allies to apply good amounts of damage.

Extra info

I pick up Shock Wave first because it has more use in the middle of a team fight or a brawl and for taking out minions. Roll Out is second so that you can pick up the extra damage for when initiating. Stone Shield is last because most of the protection it offers is based off of your health not it's level. and it lasts a decent amount of time at level one. You pick up Cataclysm as often as you can to increase the percent and stun time so that it is actually more helpful.

Gameplay

The way in which you use Geb's abilities varies greatly depending on the game type, the build, and simply how far into the match you are. Now I understand this is generally pretty obvious but I feel this applies in a more drastic way for Geb than some other gods. For instance in Arena you will often find yourself using Roll Out for escapes and chasing whereas in Conquest it is an amazing gank move and great for isolating enemies or pushing your lane. Now onto actually how to use this walking mountain.

Initiation

A great general chain to initiate fights is to run in with your Roll Out (Gank if you can to easily eliminate one enemy, or if in arena and at full tilt you can hit a tank to temporarily make them exit the fight or hit something close and squishy, hopefully melee, to hurt them and lessen enemy damage potential for a short time or you could end it when close so as to not push any enemies away for best use of Cataclysm, or hit someone just before you reach full tilt so they don't get knocked back) OR use blink if you have it, then you use Cataclysm to stun and so it can deal as much damage as possible. After that you generally would use Shock Wave to add more cc to your enemies and deal some decent aoe damage. If you need to you can use Stone Shield before Shock Wave if the incoming fire on you or one of your allies is too much or if you notice an incoming cc. After that you auto attack a bit until Shock Wave is off of cool down. If all goes well you can wipe out your enemies rather fast if you have more friendly cc to stop any enemies who survive after shock wave and the torrent of attacks from your allies.

What you can use Roll Out for after initiation
After your initial attack you should save Roll Out for either escaping or chasing. It can also be used to peel an enemy off of a ally who is low on health by attacking them from the side or whatever way would best help your ally.

Stone Shield
This skill can be used for many situations and the way you use and what you use it for are heavily based on your build. If you build damage there is a good chance you shall be using it to mitigate incoming damage on yourself whereas as a tank you have all of the protections you generally need so it's main use is saving your allies or simply buffing your carry (or some other ally) during a fight. Late and mid game the damage mitigation is still incredibly handy but the much handier function of it is the cleanse. CC enables a team to utterly destroy a character and with this you may save you or your allies if you are able to predict when an enemy is going to use their cc. Another good function is to allow you or another ally to chase a low health enemy to the depths of hell or to simply hit a enemy tower a bit to finish it off or just apply some extra damage.

Roll Out
As previously stated it is good for initiation as long as it is used correctly but it is also basically what allows Geb to do anything. It is his mobility, his most damaging ability, his initiation, his gank, his chase, and his escape. It is amazing but it also has it's flaws. It takes a good bit of time and distance to hit max speed/damage which makes it much less useful during a team fight or just simply an close range brawl. It can also be quite hard to land in some scenarios. This attack is relatively unique and your use of it can make or break Geb.

Shock Wave
This attack is simple and easy to use. Use it for some wave clear or to simply dish out damage in the midst of a fight.

Cataclysm
ONLY USE AT BEGINNING OF A FIGHT PERIOD This attack can not kill, and the lower health the enemy is at the worse it is. It is used in initiation for the stun and so it can actually get out some damage other than that basically ignore this skill.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
Fast and maneuverable
Has lots of hard hitting potential
Can take quite a beating and still keep going
Amazing support
Look bad *** while kicking ***
Has a cleanse

Cons:
Giant and so is really easy to hit and focus
New and so a lot of people are using him

I did switch out that item. That item has been removed from all builds for a while.

he said for apparently letting allies heal but its a very lackluster bonus to their healing, your better off getting more hp so your shield is stronger, it will give far more survivability then the hp regen will ever give.

Okay, thanks. I have been checking that page a bit recently and it has helped me out a good bit with the bb coding. Also the suggestion for the pros and cons is a good one I will implement that. More updates will probably be a bit more far apart considering I am going to have to do a bit more playing with the builds to put up as reliable information as possible.

This right here helps a lot with of tips on making a guide neat and has a lot of the BBcoding needed for making a guide. It is designed for LoL, but it can easily be used for making a Smite guide. Hope it helps you update this further. I've been watching this guide and seen many updates made already. Lots of fixes on the builds and information. I hope to see it continue to be updated.

I would switch the Pros and Cons section to the top. Right after the introduction. Also add a Pros and Cons for each build. Since the gameplay and character is fairly different using each one.

Okay, thank you for the advice. I can't say I have played much conquest in general though so I will have to accrue a bit more experience in that game type before I go into that as much so as to keep my input from being completely theoretical.

Subzero008 (112) | January 19, 2014 11:34pm
If you want to focus on gameplay, pretend it's conquest. Arena can be treated like one huge teamfight, and Conquest is more played (sorry TT :/) , anyway. Of course, unless you want to make it a [Insert Game Mode Name] guide.

Make stuff like a section on the laning phase (being aggressive and poking/initiation, being defensive and counter-initiation/farmign tips, counterjungling).

Then a section on roaming.

Then a section on your role in teamfights.

That's Support/Solo Geb. For jungling, put a section on ganking, counterjungling as a jungler, and that's pretty much it.

It's a lot of work, but no one said guide making was easy.

Kalafalafakah (3) | January 19, 2014 10:21pm
That was a stupid mistake of mine I thought I had taken that out a while ago though... Oops. Also considering that I am so new and stupid concerning guide making does anyone have any suggestions concerning the gameplay section other than add one? My problem is not what I should add but the structure. Should it be structured around game type, build, or small sections setup like Arena-Hybrid build.

Side note:
I understand that I desperately need BB coding for various reasons but that is coming after I input information that is apparently better structured and less worthless.

Kalafalafakah (3) | January 19, 2014 7:25pm
Thank you for the input. I understand that there is a lot of work to improve the guide, especially the bb coding, but at first I was simply attempting to get some builds up that worked for me. As for the problem of magic pen I myself have had no problems with damage output on these builds but I do see your point (there are massive survivability issues with the damage one of course though). Also I do talk about when, why, and where a bit I just foolishly didn't dedicate an area to it and I may not have been as concise/blunt as needed. Also concerning the midas boots I do not the necessity for that but I can see how it would be helpful though the abilities for boots have been altered in the past update from what is on the site. Again, I thank you for the input and I will keep it in mind as I update the Builds.

Build

Terrible builds. The hybrid and the damage dealer both lack penetration, which means a simple Void Stone will slash your damage in half, but your tank build is also lacking in flexibility as well as midas boots.

Item Explanations

Terrible. A one-sentence overview of what the item does is not acceptable. You need to explain why the item is good for Geb. For example, you'll be stacking health for all of his builds, so say Ethereal Staff synergizes well with that.

Skill Explanations

Not bad. You give a good overview of what each skill can do, even if you are a bit wordy.

Guiding/Gameplay

None. You see, a skills explanation gives the what of each skill, gameplay is the how, when, why, and where.

Details

Lacks BBC coding. Lots of text walls.

Summary

Lacks gameplay, bad item explanations, downvote. If you want to improve, I'd start with the items section, then gameplay, before tidying the guide.

I like the build. I'm glad someone got a pretty good guide up for this new character so fast. Keep up the good work Kalafalafakah. Hope to see some more builds like this from you for other characters.
