I have no clue...I have a controller for both (Xbox One for PC) so control scheme isn't a big deal. I do often prefer PC for most of my gaming, but could be convinced to get it on PS4...I generally wait until some reviews are out to confirm it's a game worth getting in any case.

Since I don't really want to create a new thread for this, here's a bit of a random question: At what point do you consider yourself ready to play a certain god(dess) in ranked? I mean, I know SMITE uses its mastery system as a restriction for ranked play by not allowing players to pick a god(dess) which they haven't reached mastery level I on, but where would you personally draw the line? Does it depend on mastery level, having at least an X amount of games played or something else entirely?

Whenever you feel confident in your ability to play with a god(dess), I'd say.

If you have mastered your god's ability kit, and know how your god performs and can work with that (e.g. not playing aggressive with a god who's kit doesn't support that or not trying to win early game fights with a god who's clearly designed to reach the late game, etc...)

And also when you've worked away rookie mistakes. Such as trying to gank enemies who're clearly not going to die or suffer from it, trying to win 1v2+'s, tower diving when you can't get out again safely, etc...

Then I'd say you're ready for ranked. If it turns out it doesn't work, you can always go back to casual or try other gods you're good with.

Whenever you feel comfortable tbh. Could be rank 1, could be rank 10.

Since they removed the mastery restriction you could honestly do it rank 0 if yhe god is simple enough. I mastered Ganesha completely in ranked and won pretty much all my games cause I knew how to play the role and the god mechanics werent hard

I must've missed a memo, did they actually remove that?

Didn't really feel like making a separate thread, but just came across this on Twitter: https://officialsmite.tumblr.com/post/168726752576/season-5-conquest-developer-update

Will be updated later today (and several times more later this month), so probably worth keeping an eye on :)

Oh sweet, Wayne, this is awesome. From that post:

  • Update: The Season 5 map is 20% wider

  • Goal: This encourages players to make more strategic decisions about their positioning. When you rotate as a team, it is a big deal; there is more risk and reward to this decision.
It's going to be interesting seeing how they're going to handle pacing, as the larger map might slow teamfights down (but also possibly speed objective clear up a bit). 20% seems pretty big, but maybe it won't be in the end. Expect any of the following:

  • Update: Jungle Camps respawn faster, but are worth less XP & gold.

  • Goal: Junglers have more decisions to make. Skilled junglers can maximize their impact while early mistakes will not end the game.
Question is, how will jungle camps change? E.g. will there be more camps? What will locations be? Will they change the buffs at all?

WIP map

  • Update: The values for XP sharing, or splitting, have been decreased

  • Goal: Currently, if you are not grouping up and sharing XP, you are playing wrong. In Season 5, players can tactically choose when to group up or when to make a solo play.
Yup, Bumba's Mask for everyone. Again. Also, HR, if you don't mind a lesson in proper grammar usage and word choice, the word would be "incorrectly," not "wrong." Fist bump, Tech.

Also...okay, so Watcher's Gift would still be expected on the Support. Will they start with ADC? Mid? Expect the Jungler to be busier, bouncing between lanes and the quick-respawn camps, and attempting ganks like usual. At least they won't be sitting in lane as much.

  • Update: Jungle and Lane Minions are worth more over time

  • Goal: We believe that the early game is too important. We wanted to slow that down without slowing down the game overall by ramping up the stakes overtime. This feature allows us to fine tune the pace of Conquest going forward.
This is interesting. Wonder how much and how quickly. Finish Shoes of the Magi at 15 minutes (gotta slow that early game down, amirite?) and get Rod of Tahuti in the 6th spot at 30 minutes. That should be good pacing! (j/k for those of you who might think I'm serious)

Side note, Wayne...curious about your thoughts of SMITE vs. LoL and the pacing, map size, and whatnot.
