What optional items should I be recommending?

How can I make the build more flexible?

Well in theory you could recommend every item that Cabrakan can get because all have their uses.

I think Sovereignty would be a good addition, as well as Hide of the Urchin and Mantle of Discord for obvious reasons.

Oni Hunter's Garb could also work since Cabrakan does have some decent amount of CC and power, but is debatable.

Winged Blade would also be a great item, since many Warriors have slows in their kit.

And maybe Spirit Robe as well but that'd be debatable.

But again, nearly every item has its use so in theory you could recommend everything. It'll come down to the situation for the player to decide what out of all these items they'll pick, hence why they're called situationals.

Also, to make the build more flexible I'd thin out your "core". Boots + your core alone is 5 items already, leaving not to much room for variety with other items.

Other than that, I don't play Cabrakan much so I will refrain from talking about a build for the guy any further from here.

I would never recommend Rod of Asclepius on Cabrakan

"In theory", bud. Just like the word "if". They may not appear to be very important, but they have a very, very big meaning. And btw it's not just the healing that Rod boosts, it's also passive regen, so it does have its uses.

@Zero: for Solo Cabrakan, don't know if Sovereignty (which is a pure Support item) is a good choice...in Solo, yes, you want to be at least somewhat strategically tanky, since especially as Cabra you'll be counted on to be the secondary tank, but mostly I think you want to get items that are a bit more selfish, since you'll be counted on to provide some damage. I dunno, others may disagree here.

Winged Blade might be an okay item on him for extra mobility since he doesn't have any jumps, but keep in mind his Seismic Crush gives him a great 5 second sprint + immunity to slows and roots.

@Tech: I think your basic build is pretty solid, and does list some alternative items, but in actuality, your "core" items make up all but one space...you only list 4 in your "core" but shoes of some form are going to take up the 5th spot (not in order of purchase, of course).

So, talked about this before, but I think Warlock's Sash is a great item on a tanky magical god...for the most part, it's probably all the health you'll need from any of the rest of your items, and it gives a good amount of power (110).

Shoes is a given. Since you consider Dynasty Plate Helm and Void Stone as core, I'm a bit less inclined to say Shoes of the Magi is key...sure, it gets you the earliest flat pen, but DPH and VS are cheap, so it's not like you'll go a long time without any pen. So, Magi if you're already rolling, but probably a bit more between Focus and Reinforced, or maaayyyybe even Travelers? I dunno.

I'd say the thing you're probably missing the most is enough physical protection. In Solo, and in general matches overall, you're more likely to see 3 physical enemies, so getting one more physical item is probably preferable to Rod of Tahuti, since DPH only provides 30. Also, you need it for minion damage and you might be looked at to tank objectives or tower dive.

To that end, you have options, but I don't know if I'm sold on Breastplate of Valor being one of those. You should have a good amount of mana from Warlock's, and his Tremors and Refraction Shield both have relatively short CD to begin. Same goes with Spectral Armor except in very situational instances. Since you're also likely to build additional protection a bit later, I don't know about Emperor's Armor, except again in unique situations. Just my opinion.

You also covered both Physical and Magical protections, but as Zero mentioned, there's no trace of balanced protections such as Hide of the Urchin, Spirit Robe, or Mantle of Discord, which can be good options as well.

Finally, depending on how the match is going, I don't know if I'd consider Polynomicon to be core. Yes, I know it can allow him to hit like a truck, but that and your last slot could definitely be substituted situationally...say Warlocks, shoes, DPH, Void, then 2 items being something like Mantle of Discord + Gem of Isolation, or Hide of the Nemean Lion + Soul Reaver.

I guess I would suggest adding a balanced protections group, and a situational offensive group.

Thoughts?

Sovereignty would be an item for when the teamfights start. It gives good protections on its own, and HP5, and when teamfights start you'll be able to assist teammates even more. But okay...

Just my opinion...I'm one of those that feels the extra 20 protections you give to teammates in the later stages of the game isn't a huge difference maker, and that other situational items can have more function. I feel Sov's HP5 is great for the earlier laning phase for a Support, and the protections for you and your teammate allow you to be aggressive on the enemy ADC to pressure them and make them lose out on farm, etc.

Like I said at the end of my Sov paragraph, others may disagree...so it's no offense to you, just my opinion.

For the second physical protections item, what do you think about Mystical Mail? Cabrakan requires getting in close, and Tremors pulls enemies towards you.

Or Midgardian Mail? Activating Tremors gets you focused really quickly, and the passive might activate and slow them while they're inside it.

This might be necro, but I still need help with this. Thoughts on selling Dynasty Plate Helm late game to make room for a better physical protection item?

Hey Tech,

Sorry, didn't see the previous post from you.

Personally, I'm just never a fan of Mystical Mail ever. It's expensive, and although it does provide a good chunk of health, the 40 physical protection is a bit on the low side, with the only utility being a bit of DPS (rather than as a counter item with possibly more benefit). Also, as a 2nd physical protection item (built late game or used to replace DPH), the base 40 damage per second isn't really all that much...AND you should consider 2 other things...
  • When enemies are level 20, and have at least 2,000 health or so, 40 damage per second is 2% of their health...BUT...

  • I believe that the 40 damage is base damage rather than true damage. An enemy's protections come into play to mitigate some of that damage. Yes, you have some other penetration/protection reduction in the build, and that might be enough to get pretty much 40 damage...but also will drop off very quickly with any protections.
