Nox extends her shadow, rooting and crippling a single enemy god in place and dealing damage over time. Nox must channel and stay within range to maintain hold on the target, but may cancel this ability early. Nox will continue to channel this ability even if she is hit by Crowd Control effects. While channeling this ability Nox suffers no directional movement penalty.

Updated Guide

I updated this build to improve it's overall performance, stuff below may be outdated.

Stats

I thought it'be much easier to give the stats with all the stacks to help people who want to do maths on it:
Link to eliteownage
EDIT: seems like lono's mask and genji's guard don't always appear, you might have to fix it manually...

Your role during a match

This build is meant to embody the role of a support:

  • tons of health and defense
  • very little damage
  • useful CC (thanks nox!)
  • auras that help allies

Enjoy this weird build!

Some advice, swap Lono's for Genji's/Shogun's. Lategame you can sell boots for Lono's.

E.g. Shoes of Focus > Gauntlet of Thebes > Breastplate of Valor > Genji's Guard/ Shogun's Kusari > Pythagorem's Piece > Mantle of Discord. Buy Speed Elixir and sell boots for Lono's or situational.

Also for your start I would swap the mana pots for multi pots.

Bran, can you post your typical nox support build? I want to compare

Boog, you can look up my builds (of which I list several example builds and a list of items to consider). I'm not going to link my guide in someone else's comments, sorry.

That said, I can comment on this build.

Current build looks like this (keeping it in body to show current state and for easy reference:

The concept here isn't bad, and in most respects is honoring the Support role by getting mostly Support-y items.

That said, these are the issues I have with the choices:
  • The start isn't that great, because I don't think you want to build into Lono's Mask as first item. Yes, the item is great for being a tank with the huge mitigation, but early game when enemy pen is basically 0, you don't need to rush this item IMO. I think this is a much stronger item if you're building into it mid-late.

You also have plenty of gold for extra potions if you in fact want to stick with Chalice of Healing. But I also think you're not really looking to take a lot of damage early. You're going to mostly focus on clearing, and if there's an opportunity for damage, you're going to throw your 1 to lock them in place, and if you miss, you're backing completely off. So early damage is looking to be minimized, and I don't think you need to invest into this item.

Instead, work on either getting Shoes online ASAP (so pick up T1 Shoes instead of Mask) and grab some potions and be done with it. If you think you can stay out a long time, maybe instead of Shoes you pick up T1 Gauntlet of Thebes if you want that item after Shoes, and hopefully save enough gold to get full T3 shoes on your first back.

  • That said...where are the Shoes??? Ahh, now I get what you're saying, azekill. ALL gods need early MS, without exception.

  • Gauntlet of Thebes is a strong early pick right now. That item is fine.

  • Warlock's Staff is NOT a good pick. You need to build 75 stacks, which means you need to get last-hits on minions. You should NOT be taking that from your ADC, and it will take a long time if you're getting that from jungle camps...even longer if you do in fact get Lono's early, as it cuts into your damage output. As I note from your bio, you said you're just coming back to SMITE, so know this also...the item has gotten a major shift, and went from being quite tanky (600 health) to bruiser (only 225 health at max stacks). This is almost purely a solo item, and I'm guessing is barely being built at all...it's not in a great spot.

  • Genji's Guard is fine. Gives you CDR and all the mana sustain you'll ever need, along with the high magical prots. Good item overall, though you can also consider other magical prot items with MP5, such as Shogun's Kusari, which provide the team with better support function.

  • Jade Emperor's Crown, especially in the spot it's in (late-game), is not a good option. It's probably mostly used these days as an early Solo item for some Guards (when it IS used), since the S7 item changes shifted away from early aggression. Keep in mind, it only reduces physical power by 20, which is not much late-game. Early game it can definitely cut into an enemy's clear and poke potential. Also...as Nox, you're not looking to be up in the enemy's face. She's not a front-line Support, she's backline, looking to set up kills at distance, or peel. So you're not going to get that much out of the aura from this item. Strongly suggest against it.

  • Hide of the Urchin, if you do build it, is too late. I also don't prefer it on Supports, but maybe that's just me. It requires stacking, and while you can rack up kills/assists late-game from teamfights, it's still more optimal to build it earlier than 6th (or 7th if you get Shoes like you're supposed to).

  • There should be a listing of other items to consider as Support. There are quite a bit that can be useful, including counter items. And if you want to be more aggressive, you have options to get functional items with an offensive tilt, such as Pythagorem's Piece. But I wouldn't go Warlock's, Jade, etc.

  • Meditation Cloak is not suggested. If you need the mana early, get those Multi Potions or Mana Potions.

  • Shield of Thorns got nerfed, and I don't think it's the best item for her anyway. Again, Nox isn't a god that's "in your face" for the most part. She's looking to create chaos and an uncomfortable area with her silence and root. So although you're going to build mostly tanky as a support, you're also not looking to actually TAKE all the damage. You use the tankiness to body-block to protect your teammates, but you don't look to keep absorbing damage constantly. In that vein, Thorns isn't what you need. Give your teammates better survival with Magic Shell, or give your team more mobility or damage with Heavenly Wings or Belt of Frenzy.
Anyway, hope this info is helpful.

This info was very helpful, thanks for detailing so much! I'm disapointed about warlock's staff, I made the choice because I remembered the health stacking meta with this item, and it's no longer as efficient sadly.

Thanks again! I'll look into changing the order in which you get items, swap out warlock staff and Jade. And follow your tips on actives and consumables, cause I'm trash at chosing them anyway!

EDIT: I updated the build what do you think of it @Branmuffin17 ?

Being a backline support, I'd probably put more emphasis on aura items like sov, heartward, Thebes, etc. I wouldn't get items like Jade or void stone because they require you to be in spitting distance of your enemies, which means there's a good chance you'll get burst down. About the only non-aura item I would get, aside from shoes, is spirit robe.

I typed this on my phone, so blame autocorrect for any words that don't fit.
