One question, how viable is this item in supports? I have seen for a long time that they bought it, but it did not catch my attention until I recently saw a video of Emilzy using it with Geb.
Normally, when I play support, I do it with Ymir, sobek, geb or fafnir ... would it be good for them? Or will it only be good for some specific picks / situations?
It's viable for specific Support picks in specific situations. The parts of it that make it viable for supports are the power/lifesteal aura (obviously), the CDR, and the mana. The negative is that it's a more offensive pick, and most Supports these days go almost full defense...the most they usually get offensively would be Void Stone, and that's just a hybrid.
It's also viable on mages, and people like DMBrandon emphasize its effectiveness...the spectrum of stats is actually very nice for the price, but people just see the high power from Bancroft's Talon and get tunnel vision.
So, when is it viable? When you're not a front-liner Guardian, but rather a reactive guardian that stays in the midst of his team, like Geb...the auras will be more effective that way. Also, obviously fine when the Mage doesn't pick it up...but if they do, then you wouldn't get it.
I think it is viable, but only in certain situations.
As a more offensive support item, it should really only be built when your team has a significant lead and you don't need the defense. This can help you and your team capitalize on your advantage and finish out the game. I wouldn't really consider it a standard item that you see built often by any means.
As far as which gods can make use of it, I feel that most guardians can do well with this item (as long as they have a significant lead, as mentioned). For example, Geb's passive is very defensive so he might not need to build as much defense to stay healthy and therefore may be able to fit Pythags into his build.
That being said, almost every guardian makes use of the cooldown, mana, power and lifesteal. But the real value comes from how much benefit your teammates get out of the item with the aura. Positioning is an important thing to consider when building aura items, so you want to make sure that if you choose to build it, you will be near your teammates who can make the most use of the aura (your adc, mage, jungler, etc.). So if your team decides to split push, or is spread out defending, you might want to consider a different item.
This is just my opinion. Would be interested to hear others' thoughts.
Well, now I see that it is a too situational item in the supports. I think that because of the statistics that it provides individually (not counting the excellent aura) it can come quite well for a guardian in the solo lane (solobek <3).
Can we build this item on a guardian just for the cool down and the added aura? I see quite a lot of 3 magical comps going around but no one builds this item on anyone.
This item is great
Aspecially with its incoming buff it'll be a great starter choice on Assault map for teams with 3+ magical characters, but I'm not sure if getting it just for the aura would be possible in every scenario- regarding guardians I can definitely see it work on Ares though; with his passive it'll give him 100 magical power combined and some CDR is always welcome- and there would still be room for typical tank items.
