short introduction

hi people and smite fans i'm Viskipje and this is my first guide. i play smite since the open beta and played on pc and ps4. u can add me if u want my in game name is viskipje.

skills and how i use them

use your 2 ability to poke the minions ( easy wave clear). before u leave the fontain u have to activate your 1 already, so your first 3 shots do more damage and extra poison damage (damage over time)if u have to help in a fight. use your 3 (the leap) to escape or chase low health enemy's DO NOT USE IT TO RUSH INTO A FIGHT WITH HIGH HP ENEMYS EARLY GAME! because the leap is the way out in really hard teamfights. as soon you have the first crit item u can use it purely agressive. your ultimate then need precision and the important part: only use it when u know u can suprise someone with it do not use it randomly, the damage is also decreased as soon they look away from your ult. i would use it on somebody stunned, slowed or to come out of the jungle when they not expect it.

why i use these specific items

1) ninja tabi: as soon u buyed this item u will see that medusa's passive already gives an advantage to your movement speed( medusa's passive gives no movement penalty while walking backwards, left or right). Ninja tabi comes along with +15 attack speed but more important it also gives you 100+ mana.

2) asi: low price for a great item giving +15% physical penetration, +15% physical lifesteal and 20+ attack speed. Item’s passive is great too. If you drop below 35% Health, you gain an additional 25% Physical Lifesteal for 5s. Can only occur once every 15s. great for boxing on low health

3) jotunn’s wrath : gives a bit of everything 40+ physical power, +150 mana, +10 physical penetration and +20% cooldown reduction. Good item combo with ninja tabi that comes with another +100 mana.

4) hastened fatalis: the item's passive let you almost think this item purely was made for medusa. the movement penalty also vanishes, even when you are firing! making this item really good in chasing enemy players! a must have for medusa.

5) wind demon: wind demon is a nice item giving you physical power and critical strike chance, also the passive is good with medusa ( getting a crit hit lets you have a 20%+ movement and attack speed buff for 5s)

6) titan’s bane : gives 30+ physical power. The passives gives all of you physical attacks +33% physical penetration. Also it has a low cost.

a last word

i hope all of you enjoyed this guide and try it yourself, or can give me extra tips for her would also be much appreciated, did not tried this build on conquest or other game modes yet i mainly play joust. if u tested it in an other game mode and it worked well just let me know :)

EDITS!

EDIT!(30/08/2016): after tips about why i focus not some more on my attack speed i puzzled again. knowing that i needed some more pentration AND attack speed. ichaival is a great choice although i choose the executioner above it cause of his passive (reducing 12% of physical protection with every stack with a maximum of 3 stacks). also i changed the warrior tabi with ninja tabi giving early game some more attack speed. hope u guys think this will be more balanced.

EDIT (01/09/2016) : changed the purchase order. this order gives you early game some more advantage.

EDIT (06/09/2016) : changed purchase order. adding asi to it and removing the executioner. changed {{ninja tabi}} to warrior tabi.

EDIT (11/10/2016) changed purchase order. replacing warrior tabi with ninja tabi, i threw out bloodforge AND deathbringer of my build and replaced it with jotunns wrath as 3rd item en titans bane as 6th item.

again hope all of you guys get a great game with this build :)

medusa's buff details + explaination for the build change (patch 3.19)

so medusa has been given a buff in 3.19. the mana cost of acid spray and lacerate is decreased.

Acid Spray
Mana cost reduced from 70/75/80/85/90 → 60/65/70/75/80

Lacerate
Mana cost reduced from 85 → 70 at all ranks.

now her lacerate and acid spray ability's their mana cost is decreased i wanted to have more mana in my build. transcadence isnt an option in my joust build IMHO, so thats why i changed warrior tabi with ninja tabi and threw out bloodforge , making space for jotunn's wrath in that way i have +250 mana with both items and in the first 3 items (early) which is also crucial. i threw out deathbringer and replaced it with titan's bane. deathbringer is a good crit item but im good with wind demon alone.

I'm a bit late to the party, but here is my build for Medusa:
Warrior Tabi
Devourer's Gauntlet
Qin Sais
Hastened Fatalis
Malice
Deathbringer

I never liked a lot of attack speed on Medusa. She's mostly ability based. I put fatalis on here only because it synergizes well with her passive. If I'm ahead and not chasing too much I'll build Jotuns Wrath instead, Hydras Lament got a recent buff so it might be worth considering as well. Although it is largely dependent on AA scaling.
Fun fact: I don't build any attack speed on Neith. It kinda goes like this:
Transcendence
Warrior Tabi
Jotuns Wrath
Titans Bane/ Brawler Stick
Malice
Deathbringer

thanks for your feedback MrSinister! :)

thanks for sharing your opinion, your build is more based on damage output right? i like to build further on her boxing potentials (her passive) :). i dont like to stack too, mostly of the time i play joust so stacking isnt really an option imo.

but thanks again for the feedback i appreciate it ;)

hey Viskipje,

sorry, but you need to work on your building.

Ninja Tabi as a first boot choice isnt that good, although you might get away with it by building [[transcendence) first, you personally don't. let me explain.

Warrior Tabi= 20 power more for early clear. Ninja Tabi uses that 15% best for late game. in early game, you need to have more power and you build attack speed later since you need power for your basics & abilities, so building attack speed early would just overall not compare to building power early and then building attack speed.

Bloodforge is not an item you'd want to build early. it's way too expensive. i'd say replace it with Asi.

while Hastened Fatalis is a good pickup on Medusa, you need to pick it up later on in the game, when you will have enough power.

while keeping your items and your heavy attack speed focused late game in mind, I've theorycrafted a build for you to use.

Transcendence, Warrior Tabi, Asi, The Executioner, Hastened Fatalis, wind demon (sell Trans) Deathbringer.

-1 for now.

-Ducks.

(also, please don't buy defense items on hunters)

hey thanks for the feedback man :). u know what i was just working on it :D and actually i was going almost in the same direction. i will replace ninja tabi with warrior tabi, im not such a stack fan so i'll pas on the transcadence.

but thanks for the feedback! hope u can give a 1+ in the future :)

@Ducks, yo dude. What up G.

Hey, his build has gone through a couple revisions already...my thought on Warrior/Ninja in joust, I think, may be subjective to the individual match. In some cases, Assault/Arena/Joust where individual wave clear isn't as needed if you've got at least one other that can help clear quickly, is that you might sacrifice a bit of early power to make sure your damage output is better late game without the need for the extra substitution. At the point where crits/Qin's get online, the added attack speed usually means more DPS, right?

In a basic ADC Conquest role, there's no disputing the need for the extra power from Warrior, but in Joust? I think there's maybe some leeway that can still work. You're the ADC pro though, so...further thoughts based on this?

DucksRock (41) | September 6, 2016 12:25pm
yes, i still think he needs that in joust.

Medusa has a unique boxing advantage early, and he still needs to deal enough damage to outclear.

I feel that this build also sacrifices a lot of power for attack speed. You don't NEED Wind Demon for movement when you already have hastened. This build would also have little damage early game as Warrior Tabi is a big damage staple for pretty much all hunters - thing is, you have about 4 attack speed items when you need only about 2. My ideal build would be Warrior Tabi, Ichaival, Executioner, Hastened (optional), Rage, Deathbringer, Bloodforge (optional). Warrior Tabi provides early game damage and poke if you aim 2 right, Ichaival gives you some extra attack speed and some early pen and damage, Executioner gives some much-needed damage and some attack speed, rage for damage and crit chance, deathbringer for the combo with rage for more damage, and then hastened for early game mobility and attack speed or bloodforge for straight damage and shield.

Hi shadowfox, sorry for my grammar im dutch but i do what i can, discussed the build also with Branmuffin17 and im working already to get some more early game damage output. ichaival will not be in my build cuz if i put ichaival in it it would look to much like Branmuffin17's build. although i gonna change my ninja tabi into warrior tabi thats for sure. this is a guide in progress so im working on it alot when i have time. wind demon fits too well on medusa to replace it IMHO.

thanks for the feedback and i will try to pay attention on my grammar lel

No offense dude, but you REALLY need to work on your grammar.

Hey Shadow, just keep in mind that there are people on the site (including Viskipje) whose primary language ISN'T English. As such, a little leniency is appreciated.

As for me...

I'd recommend using the Ichaival over Fatalis personally. I play Medusa all the time and her passive/dash give her move than enough speed to box other gods. Unless you are playing very aggressively, Fatalis isn't going to be very practical. Ichaival gives you just as much attack speed, on top of penetrations (which your build is desperately lacking to be honest). Just my opinion though.

I'd also switch Executioner and Wind Demon and then swap out Wind Demon for Malice or Rage. I find that Medusa already has enough attack speed at this point in the build, and the passives of Malice and Rage are going to to help you a lot more than Wind Demon's will.

I also use a build that utilizes Hastened Fatalis. I know it's not optimal for max damage output, but I wanted a solid build that takes advantage of her passive. Not for everyone, but also not a cut and paste Trans build...otherwise, might as well not even make the guide, eh?

Hastened Fatalis + Wind Demon makes some sense to get even greater movement/juking, but if you don't build Fatalis, Malice does make more sense to increase DPS even more.

I would also put The Executioner before the crit items...and one consideration would be, depending on team and enemy comp, to build Ichaival in place of Exe, and replace it with Exe after the crit items are completed...or, if you're the only physical god and the enemy team only has one physical god, consider Titan's Bane, cuz Ichi's physical power reduction will only work on 1 enemy, and Exe's protection reduction will only apply to your own damage, minimizing effectiveness.

thanks for your feedback bloodlesscamel :). played with ichaival a couple of times and its a great item for only 1700 gold but the hastened fatalis does its job the way i play her. ofc everyone has an other playstyle. i like to play with her agressively. i will see what i can do to give medusa some more penetration but doesn't give the executioner already a nice penetration? also wind demon is something that fits so well with medusa IMHO. i will give it a shot with rage and malice but 3 crit chance items is it not too much?. thanks for the feedback again! really appreciate it :)

Executioner may lower physical protections, but it doesn't really do anything in the way of penetration itself. You would get more damage if you did build ichaival or titan's bane.

The Build looks Pretty good :D but don't you think you need more attack speed ? i don't play Medusa tho, im just Wondering.

Viskipje (1) | August 28, 2016 9:31am
the hastened fatalis is imho opinion with warrior tabi enough, because of medusa's passive and the passive of the hastened fatalis ;)

Branmuffin17 (394) | August 28, 2016 6:52pm
Viskipje, nik is talking about attack speed...looks like you're referring to move speed, as you mention Warrior Tabi and the passive of Hastened Fatalis.

You get your attack speed from Fatalis + the passive of Wind Demon, but I'd also personally prefer more attack speed in her kit. One solution is to switch Warrior Tabi for Ninja Tabi. More attack speed means more potential hits, which, as you finish your build, also means more chances for crits. Just in this switch, you wouldn't have to worry about overcapping attack speed even with Viper Shot, I think.

Every build is subjective to a point, and every game is different, so you can find a lot of success with a variety of builds, depending on the matchup. My specific concern, besides wanting more attack speed, would be getting such an expensive item first. You'll be putting yourself a decent bit behind other players, unless your team is doing so well together than you can catch up on gold from kills and assists.

If you can make this work in most matches, more power to you. If you want to get your other items online faster, though, you might consider getting Devourer's Gauntlet. Sure it takes a lot of stacks, but it's significantly cheaper, and you should be able to build stacks relatively easy with her Acid Spray.

Just suggestions, of course.
