Introduction

Hello everyone,

First of all english is not my native language so I am sorry for any non-sense, miss-spelling etc. Feel free to point them out.

I am Jedal and I am quite new to SMITE (level 22 at the moment) but it is not my first MOBA.
I have been playing DOTA and LoL since its beta.

Let us go for my first guide...

Changes

  • November 18th 2013 - Creation

Pros / Cons

Pros
Cons
  • Squishy
  • If you cannot land your Spirit Ball you will lose a lot of damage output
  • Counter by hard CC (Cancel your Wing Gust)

Skills

Isis skill order is quite simple and there is very few variation :

Funeral Rites
Can be useful if you got a few early kill for lane sustain or end game for sieges.
Isis 3rd auto-attack has a little AOE effect, try to use this early game to last hit or damaging enemy god while last hitting.

Wing Gust
This is the first skill you want to max out. Its damage is great and its wave clear is amazing. From level 7 you should be able to clear all minions but the big one only with one Wing Gust
You can also use it as an escape tool thanks to its 25% speed boost and no backpedal penalty. If you have to use it to flee, make sure to face the enemy to damage him during the process.

Spirit Ball
This skill is amazing if you can master it.
It does a lot of damage and has a nice AREA stun, the only drawback is that it is no that easy to land as it travel slowly.
It takes a bit of practice to land it perfectly but it worth the hard work.
You want this skill max out second for the utility and the damage.

Dispel Magic
This skill is one of the best utility skill. It provide a slow, a silence, magical protection debuff for enemies and magical buff for you and your allies.
Very useful in teamfight and that why it is only maxed last.

Circle of Protection
This is a great tool in team fight or small skirmishes, you can literally turn the tide of an engage with this skill only.
You can use your ultimate to achieve different goals :
  • Zone enemy team, knowing the damage that your ultimate could do to them, they will probably back off, engage in a hurry deep in your team (away from your utlimate) or, in best case, split.
  • Deal amazing damage, cast your ultimate in the middle of a 10 players team fight let it charge and enjoy
  • Heal your team, like for damage if your team has a bad engage cast your ultimate on your team and let it charge
  • Snipe enemies, you can detonate your ultimate nearly instantly to do some damage/heal, if your have no other skill available do not hesitate to cast and detonate your ultimate to pick a low life enemy fleeing.

Items

Main items

Shoes of Focus
Most of your damage come from your Spirit Ball / Wing Gust combo, more you use it more damage you will do, max cooldown reduction with Chronos' Pendant
Warlock's Sash
Isis can farm very easily, those 100 stacks will be up in no time and synergize very well with Ethereal Staff
Chronos' Pendant
Most of your damage come from your Spirit Ball / Wing Gust combo, more you use it more damage you will do, max cooldown reduction with Shoes of Focus
MP5 is always nice to have.
Rod of Tahuti
Beeing a solo lane mage you need to do a lot of damage, Rod of Tahuti is perfect for this purpose, a lot of magical power and a percentage magical power bonus.
Ethereal Staff
Isis is squishy and little bit of health is welcome but as a solo lane mage you need to do a lot of damage so you cannot afford to build tanky only. Ethereal Staff is your best bet, health, magical power and more magical power as a percentage of your health.
Synergize very well with Warlock's Sash
Obsidian Shard
Most of the time by the end of the game all enemies will buy magical protection. This iteme allow you to maintain a good amount of damage even on guardians.

Other items

Book of Thoth
If you are on a stacking frenzy you can buy this to replace Chronos' Pendant. Trading your cooldown reduction for more magical power means that you HAVE TO land your skills
Focused Void Stone or Void Stone
You can buy one on these if enemies do not stack a lot of magical protection. Replace Obsidian Shard

Active

Aegis Amulet
This is a must have on lot of damage dealer as you will be a priority target for enemies.
On Isis it allow you to give a little more time to your Circle of Protection to charge up for a bigger heal.

late Game Boosts

Potion of Magical Might
Elixir of Power
These items can be game changing in very late game, if you can afford them at full build buy them.

Playing Isis

General tips

  • Often if the opportunity seems too good it means that their jungler is near.
  • Do not chase too much, most of the time making them flee is better than a kill exchange (they lose a lot of experience and gold while you farm)
  • After a kill, if you have enough money to upgrade your items push the lane then go to buy, you want to materialize your lead !
  • Always look your minimap :
    • Saving your jungler from an invade without a call is priceless. Your jungler will love you and probably gank you a lot.
    • Ganking your side lane without a call is priceless. Feeding your team is always a good idea.

General Isis tips

Early game

Play safe and try to hit enemy gods every time you use Wing Gust to farm.
If you see an opportunity to land a combo Spirit Ball / Wing Gust do it and start to retreat while firing the last 2 shots of Wing Gust unless you can secure the kill by chasing.

If you can land your Spirit Ball your jungler will love you and come often to take free kills, abuse this to take a large lead to your opponent and gank other lanes.

Mid game

In lane use your Dispel Magic / Spirit Ball / Wing Gust combo as much as you can to maintain dominance.

Start moving around to your side lanes, your Spirit Ball and Circle of Protection are amazing gank tools but try to farm every middle waves to stack your Warlock's Shash

Late game

Depending of your team engage capacity you can achieve several roles :

Okay, while this guide may be incomplete, it is way better than the **** I've been seeing today. Thanks for that.

Enough jibber-jabber. Time for the review. *cracks knuckles*

Build

Odd build. It seems to be going for a mixture of tankiness and raw magical power over, say, Polynomicon or lifesteal. Certainly original, if inflexible. Could use a bit more situational items.

The most damming thing, however, is the lack of any penetration. Anyone who builds magical protections (aka anyone with a brain) will pretty much cut your damage in half.

Items

Decent explanations. Not much else to say, although I will repeat the lack of penetration and flexibility.

Skills

You could have gone a bit more in depth, like how Spirit Ball going through walls being a great way to steal mid camps, and a bit more explanation on her silence (when and where and on who to use it, etc).

Other than that, this is good.

Guiding/Gameplay

I like the general tips, as well as the addition of a harass combo. Since Isis is fairly intuitive, I understand the absence of a blow-by-blow guide.

Early game is a bit vague, especially with "play safe." You might want to add a matchups section against common enemy mids, like Ao Kuang or Agni. That would greatly improve this guide.

Mid game is extremely vague, and I'd just advise removing it.

Late game section should be renamed into "Teamfights." Also, you should give a section on asserting lane dominance, rather than simply assuming that your protegees would have already obtained it.

Details

Good BBC coding, and stuff are easy to read. Also, your Pros and Cons are really, really good.

Summary

Could use a bit more expansion, as discussed in the above sections. Other than those, this guide's pretty good, even though it could be better.

You have my upvote, please PM me when you have updated.

...I just had a brainstorm. Isis jungle.

Guide looks amazing, but i'll comment a little on items, better saying, items you should put on "other items" section.
Breastplate of Valor - Gives nice cdr plus the health and defense, i consider it a must have so i can survive more, and still have the other benefits. i would replace
Chronos' Pendant for it.
Bancroft's Talon - Since i don't use stacking items too much, i
found this item really great, it's cheap and gives tons of magical power. i would use this instead warlock's sash, an item that i think it's too expansive and that takes too much time to be stacked. If you actually want some stacking items (which is great on Isis since she have nice clearing) i would give a shot to Doom Orb, it is cheap, and stacks faster, even though it is halved on death, you could replace it later for Book of Thoth.
But, as i said, this items just should be put at the "other items" section, since the choice relies on each person playstyle, but i think it would make the guide more complete.
Now talking about your main build, i think you should put more defense into it, although it already have a lot of health, protection wouldn't do bad, but again, this is all about playstyle.
And don't forget, Shoes of the Magi is not a bad choice especially when you already have cdr items such as Chronos' Pendant and Breastplate of Valor.
Again nice guide, +1

Nice guide. Easy +1.

Though I'd critique the build a bit: I would put Obsidian Shad earlier, Rod of Tahuti later, and have a few situational items in case Etheral Staff isn't a person's cup of tea, like me.

You have some grammar mistakes, but all are forgivable. Your spelling is perfect, so it looks proffesional. You make your point without going into TOO much detail. And the BBCoding is nice.

I wish all people's first guides were like this... including mine. Damn, it needs to be updated :P.

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Indeed, it misses some situational items and maybe the build need some tweaks. I will look into it while I play more games with Isis.
