Thoth conjures three Hieroglyphs around him, ignoring the Basic Attack Movement penalty. His next 3 Basic Attacks pass through Enemies and apply Ability Damage instead. Additionally, these Basic Attacks deal an additional 25% damage to jungle minions. If these attacks pass through the Glyph of Pain, their range is increased by 30. Hitting an enemy with this ability increases the damage they take from each subsequent shot by 10% and reduces the cooldown by 0.5s (this can only occur once per shot).

Thoth dashes in the direction he is currently traveling. After dashing, for 5s Thoth's next basic attack is enhanced.

This projectile roots the first Enemy god hit while slowing all other enemies, and also deals Ability Damage.

If either the Dash or Attack passes through the Glyph of Pain, their respective range is increased by 30.

From his book, Thoth conjures forth a Hieroglyph in front of him. Thoth's ability projectile passing through the glyph receive increased damage, and a range increase of 30. This damage does not trigger item effects.

Thoth and allies' Basic Attack projectiles also receive a lesser damage bonus, but no range increase.

Thoth begins summoning pages from his book, up to a maximum of four. When all four have been summoned, he sends them forward damaging all Enemies in their path.

Thoth may activate this ability again to fire the ability early, doing a reduced amount of damage based on the number of glyphs currently summoned. Alternately he may cancel this ability at a cost of 30 Mana.

Pros / Cons

- Stupid amount of damage throughout the game
- Stupid good range
- Stupid good mobility
- Can easily shred down towers with the ADC
- ult can 1 shot someone late game
- Shreds Squishy targets
- Very hard to lose
- Free ticket to diamond



- Requires a brain
- Good positioning is a must
- Only has 2 abilities that you damage people with (Hieroglyphic Assault(1) & the ult)
- Sucks vs tanks

How to properly play Thoth.

Positioning is the most important thing on Thoth. On most tierlists Thoth is usually placed at an A+ or S, but in all honesty if you learn or know how to properly position Thoth he is ridiculously strong and easily an S+ - SS tier god. Due to Thoth's insane range you are able to position yourself behind walls & behind your team, almost untouchable to their whole team. Here are some examples.

Positioning yourself here while defending the phoenix is really strong when trying to defend, poke down their carries and clear the wave so they're forced to take the risky dive with the carries low.

Just a few examples with the new map change and the addition of a **** load of walls, pretty much anything can be used.

couple of notes:
Never use the dash unless it's to escape and don't reengage until it's back up or close to being back up. Pretty much think your only usable abilities to do damage to the enemies are the 1,3 & 4.

Thoth is garbage against tanks, when team fighting focus the ADC->MID->Jungle->Solo->Support in that order.

Items / Build routes

Never sell Mages Blessing until you can FULLY afford your last item, cooldown is really good.

Divine Ruin - Try to always get this, ***** on ADCs that get double lifesteal or lifesteal in general, they wont be able to facetank ults anymore :), and the duration it applies is the same length as your 1.


Route 1 - Go for route one if you have RELIABLE peel, for example assuming you have 2 tanks (a guardian and warrior or other ****) one plays around to back line to peel for you and others while the other tries to separate their back line from their peelers. Try to focus their ADC -> Mid laner -> Jungler in that order.

Route 2 - If you have no peel in the backline and your support and solo laner are always in the enemy teams face. That leaves open an opportunity for the enemy team to dive you so cooldown is really important to have that dash up all the time

Route 3 - If they have no tank or only 1 tank, you'll pretty much be doing true damage to the carries.

Do you use Rod of Tahuti in your build because you say Thoth is bad against tanks and the item can help him for that? (If that is the case you should also get Ethereal Staff and possibly Obsidian Shard for only very/extremely tanky targets, Soul Reaver can also help),

Because if you are focusing squishy gods there is probably better item choices like Soul Reaver (burst) , Book of the Dead (survival), Gem of Isolation (great utility) and Shaman's Ring (survival and damage) .


Furthermore, for your Route 1 and Route 3 builds, I recommend you get Shoes of Focus (possibly just replace Magi Boots for it lategame) instead of Shoes of the Magi due to Thoth's passive : Dead Reckoning giving him Flat penetration, which at max stacks reaches a total amount of 20, make sure any Magical Penetration you have from items does not go over 30, as you will overcap your Magical Penetration (Cap is 50).
For example a full build for Route 3 can be: Book of Thoth, Shoes of Focus (Can get Magi first and replace later), Spear of the Magus/ Divine Ruin, Chronos' Pendant, Rod of Tahuti.

Also don't doublestack both Warlock's Staff and Book of Thoth, unless you stack Warlock's Staff early and get Book of Thoth last item, where the stacks will be unnecessary. Stacking both early delays your power spike for too long.
