First off hi everyone. This is my first guide so if you could let me know if you think it could be better in some ways that would be great. So my main aim for this guide is to help newer players get a better understanding how Agni is played in Midlane. Personally I think Agni is a solid Midlaner for 'beginners'. So because of that I'm going to break down his abilities first.
Now with your basic knowledge of Agni's abilities lets talk about the items you can use and why these items are picked. Note this is for Conquest only!!
Sands of Time: This starter Item is very effective due to the simple fact it provides +5MP5, +20 magical power and +10% cooldown.
Vampiric Shroud: This particular Item is not the best on mages within in season 4 but if you prefer using it then you can. This Item grants +20 magical power, +100 health and 4% lifesteal. Though the mana return from killing a creep or enemy is not really viable as it is only 8 mana back for the sheer amount used. This is why i would favor the other two options more.
Soul Stone: Ok so this Item is a very strong choice due to its passive and what it gives to you on its normal stats. This Item grants +20 magical power and +100 mana, but its passive also grants +40 magical power from its stacks while using an ability. This option and option number one tend to me more viable but again its preference.
Shoes of the Magi: So boots, these realistically should be your first full built item as they are must for the movement speed which Agni lacks. This Item grants you with +45 magical power, +10 magical penetration and +18% movement speed.
Shoes of Focus: Compared to Shoes of the Magi, Shoes of focus are still good on Agni for cooldown and increased mana with his early game being a struggle. This Item grants you with +40 magical power, +250 mana, +10% cooldown reduction and +18% movement speed.
: Book of Thoth: So this item on Agni is really really good due to the increase in mana and power from the stacks obtained (max stacks 75). This Item grants you with +125 mana, +10 magical power and +15 Mp5. Its passive also grants you extra damage which is converted form 3% of your mana.
Doom Orb: So this item again is really good on Agni but if you don't feel 100% confident like i stated in the Warlocks Sash description then don't go for this item. This Item Grants you with +40 magical power, +200 mana and +7MP5. It also grants +2 magical power per stack from its passive (max stacks 50) the only catch is when you die you lose half of those stacks. So if you are behind this is not a viable choice for you. You can also sell this later on for a stronger pick if you want for something like soul reaver.
Breastplate: So Breastplate is really a good protection on most gods against physical opponents such as the enemy Jungler and Adc. When playing Agni in the Midlane, Junglers such as Serqet and Thanatos will tend to zone you more due to you been very squishy in the early stages of the game. So to counter that this item is must, this Item grants you with +65 physical protection, +300 mana, +10Mp5 and 205 Cooldown reduction.
VoidStone: As for magical protections Void Stone is good because it gives you magical power and protections all in one which is a nice thing to have aswell as the added passive. This Item grants you with +40 magical power, +70 magical protections and as for the passive it also grants you with stripping your enemies magical protections by 20.
Hide of the Nemean Lion: Finally this protection is actually good against your ADC opponents simply because of its passive. This Items grants you with +80 physical protection, +200 mana and 20MP5. It also 25% of all basic attacks back to the attacker as physical damage and if that is accompanied by crits from them it adds extra damage so overall this is useful.
Chronos Pendant: This item is just for the added cooldown, mana and power given from it. This Item gants you with +60 magical power, +25MP5 and 20% cooldown reduction. Furthermore this item ties back with Book of t=Thoth becasue of the increase in the amount of mana you have. Its passive also grants you with a reduction in cooldown on all abilities every 10's.
Bancroft's Talon: So this item is useful in the sense you get life steal and a huge power spike from it aswell. This Item grants you with +100 magical power and 20% magical lifesteal. Its passive also increases your lifesteal and power from missing health, overall its a well rounded item.
Spear of the Magus: So why this item on Agni well because as the meta stands right now this item shreds through enemies which makes its really viable. This Item Grants you with +50 magical power and +15 magical penetration to get rid of those pesky protections. Its passive also grants you with reducing the enemies magical protections with your abilites by 10 for 5s (max stacks 5).
Soul Reaver: This item works on Agni really well simply because of the passive this item has and also the extra mana which combines with Thoth to give extra magical power. This Item grants you with +100 magical power and +300 mana. Its passive grants you with true damage up to 10% when a god takes damage from your abilities and to make things better if multiple gods are hit which Agni can do with his AOE ult the one with the highest health has it applied to them. This can only occur every 40 seconds.
Rod of Tahuti : OK the Final item, so at this point you should no longer have Sands of time due to the items from before. Now what you need to fill the space is Rod simply because of the huge power curve that it gives. This Item grants you with +125 magical power and +30MP5, furthermore the passive increases your magical power by another 25%.
So we are near the end if you have made this far thanks for taking the time to read everything. So for Relics it really depends on the situation but they usually consist of Beeds and Aegis. So for you beginners im going to break down why you get these Relics.
Purification Beads: Why buys this well this item removes all hard CC effects applied to you from gods such as Ymir freeze and Anubis wrap, the list is endless. So this really allows you to make some sort of escape from sticky team fight, the immunity lasts for 2s and has a cooldown of 160s until you upgrade it which reduces the cool down by 30s.
Aegis Amulet: Much like Beeds this relic comes in handy alot!. So what does it do well it makes you invulnerable to damage and healing for 2s, this does prevent you from taking actions but you can move still and try to make an escape. When accompanied with Beeds it gives you a lot of escape potential especially with Agni. The cooldown is the same as Beeds 160s and is reduced to 130s when upgraded.Where does Agni shine and lack:
● Pros:
- He has high area damage
- Decent Escape from his 3
- Very good combo from his 1,2 and 4
- Good lane pushing when ahead
- Nice poke
- He has a STUN!
● Cons:
- Low Health (Early Game)
- Low defense (Early Game)
- Slow movement Speed
- Long cooldowns (Early Game)
So to sum everything up Agni is great for beginners looking to get into Midlane and has a fun factor to him so you dont get 'Burnt Out' too fast while playing. Once Agni is online and not far behind he can really be the dominant force in the match, though he can be really bad if not played right and has been underleveled a lot compared to their mid lane.
