Portal

1 X
Janus creates a portal in the world. If placed on a wall, the portal will create a passage through to the other side of the wall that Janus or any ally may use. The portal may be entered from either side, but closes after 1 use.

If placed on the ground, enemies and Janus will fall into the portal, being teleported into the air above it. Enemies take damage upon landing, and are considered banished during the fall.

Ability Type: Circle, Banish, Damage
Damage: 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 (+60% of your Magical Power)
Banish Duration: 1.5s

2 A
Janus creates two tethered unstable portals, far too small to fit into, and flings them forward dealing damage to enemies in their path. Enemies hit by both portals take 15% damage on the second hit.

Ability Type: Area, Damage
Damage: 110 / 175 / 240 / 305 / 370 (+80% of your Magical Power)

Threshold

3 B
Passive: Janus increases the movement speed of himself and allies each time they go through a portal or over a Threshold (max. 2 Stacks).

Active: Janus opens a multi-dimensional rift. Enemies who pass over the rift are slowed, and marked with Phase. Targets in Phase take additional Magical scaling damage when hit by Janus' damaging abilities.

Ability Type: Line, Buff

Rift Duration: 3 / 3.5 / 4 / 4.5 / 5s

4 Y
Passive: Janus gains increased % Magical Penetration.

Active: Janus becomes CC Immune and blasts a ball of multi-dimensional energy across the battlefield, burning a portal into every surface it encounters within range 500. These portals last 10s, may be used by allies, and do not vanish after the first use.

Enemies hit take damage, increasing in Magical scaling the further the energy travels. Enemy gods cannot take more than 75% of their maximum Health as damage.

Ability Type: Line, Damage

Introduction

Hello! Phillyblnts23 here and welcome to my first guide which will go over the god Janus. I play Smite on both Ps4 and Xbox One. I have played many gods but have gravitated towards Janus. Although difficult to play, he can be very rewarding and will give you a few good laughs along the way. I am by no means a master of him and will not claim to be, but I have had a lot of success with him and he is my go to in any game mode. I have read every guide out there, watched every video, and have played many, many hours trying out different builds. This is the one I have found to work the best. Enjoy!

Pros / Cons

Pro's

High Damage
Levels Fast
Minion Farmer
Travels Fast
Can Save the Entire Team

Con's

Squishy at times
Hard to catch up if behind
If not near a wall, you are a sitting duck

Skills/ Combos

Before I get into the Skills, I'd like to go over magical scaling. Scaling is a term used with Janus in regards to additional damage added on to each ability/skill. Each ability has a base damage + %magical power. When you see the term scaling, it is referring to the %magical power. An example is Janus's Portal. The base damage is 80/130/180/230/280 + 60% Magical Power. If our Magical Power is set at 100, you then would add 60 damage (because 100*60%=60) before protections. Alright, we can now get into the skill descriptions.

Summary

All in all, Janus is one of the most popular mid laners in the game with the versatility to support and push. If anyone has any questions regarding him, please feel free to comment or message me. I will be creating more guides like this if this one goes well so any support is appreciated. I am in the works in getting my Youtube channel setup as well so I will have video support for in the near future. Thanks everyone for reading and Smite on!

I am working on my social media daily and soon it will be up and running fully. Stay tuned!

I think this build needs a little work i would recommend adding a attack speek item to improve his dps

Hello. Great job on the guide. I would just switch CDR Boots for Pen Boots and Soul Reaver for Breastplate of Valor so I could get the max cooldown on Janus,as well as a bit of survivability against assassins which he really needs to perform well. Max CDR portals are a big threat to deal with... But that's just my opinion, because I find Janus really good with max Cdr. Since CDR items were nerfed this Season, that's how I build him right now. The rest was very well explained nice work.

I personally found the extra mana to be more beneficial early on for sustain but really I dont think you can go wrong either way as long as you can adapt to it. As far as the breast plate, my counter for assasins is a portal at my feet and I usually run around with it already set there for that reason. I'm more of a burst player and that extra power plus 15% of their health seems to work better with my play style. Not to mention I'm usually 3 levels ahead of everyone on top of it so I dont fear about assasins to much. If I'm behind though, no doubt the Breastplate of Valor is on my radar until I get caught up. Thanks for the advice though!

Great build, however, like you said, Janus is extremely mobile. Personally, because of his high mobility, I would replace Shoes of Focus with either Pythagorem's Piece or Bancroft's Talon. Mobility isn't a forefront in upgrading Janus

I'm with Odradin on this one. I wouldn't be caught dead without shoes.

Boots are necessary on every mage, you can't expect to always be able to portal and getting Pythag or Bancrofts increases the gold it takes to finish your build by around 1000. I can see maybe skipping boots in Siege but in every other mode they are absolutely vital to any good build.

This is my first guide and experience with coding so if you see anything (colors, formatting, etc....) that it should have please let me know. Also I hope to add more to it as I go in terms of how to play against the other gods.
