Hera damages enemies in a cone in front of her before opening a portal for Argus to attack through. Enemy minions hit by this cone are knocked into Argus' path. Argus then slams his fists at the target location dealing heavy damage. If both of his fists connects with an enemy, it deals 15% extra damage.

Hera shrouds herself in her divine power, granting her a shield from damage and temporary movement speed that lasts as long as the shield remains.

If Argus is active, Argus shines with the same Divine power as Hera, causing him to deal radiant damage and move at an increased rate.

Argus, the Defender

Hera brings Argus crashing down at a location, damaging and knocking up enemies. On landing Argus will attack the nearest target. Hera can control where Argus moves through refiring this ability onto an enemy or if he has a target, to recall him. While recalled Argus will defend Hera and attack anyone that gets close. Argus has a hit chain that starts with a normal basic attack, into a ground circle AoE slowing enemies by 20% for 1s, into a line attack.

I'am brazilian and I play Smite since season one, but in PC.

I'm here to share my ideas about , a strong and overpower mage in middle lane

I've seen this before.

Items

Starting Items

Option 1: For a ofensive start, the Spellbook guarantees more magical power, if you want poke the enemy since the early game, and start stacks the Book of Thoth earlyer.
Option 2: For a safer start, the Shoes guarantees more chances of evasion against enemy skills.
Option 3: For a ofensive start for the example 2. Lost Artifact guarantees more magical power, if you want poke the enemy since the early game, and you can buy Chronos' Pendant earlyer

Magical Power

Book of Thoth: The core item in any build of mage, besides a high magical power you will have a high max mana for spell much skills in team fights.
Chronos' Pendant: Besides it gives you 20% cooldown reduction, every 10 seconds this subtracting 1 sec from all your skills in cooldown
Staff of Myrddin: Besides the cooldown and magical power, this give to you a powerfull passive, occur once every 45 sec, when you use the ultimate you next skill non-ultimate in the next 10 sec will have no cooldown, use this with Divine Shroud.
Rod of Tahuti: 150+ magical power and 25% more damage against enemys bellow 50% health. Important against tank enemys. Sell your shoes and buy this and Elixir of Speed
Shaman's Ring: 10% movement speed and 100+ magical power instead of, when you stacks this with 5k damage in enemy gods this evolves, and the god hit by a skill now is marked and your skills and basic attacks cause 10% more damage for 5 sec.

Lifesteal

Soul Gem: This item gives you a little lifesteal, but is the passive matters, every four successful skill attacks your next skill that damages an enemy will receive 30% of your magical power bonus and healing you and allies within 20 units with 30% of your magical power. Besides the cooldown reduction of 10%.

Penetration

Obsidian Shard: This item ignore magical protection of the target besides give to you 70+ magical power, perfect for skills of instant damage
Spear of Desolation: This item is not only penetration item, but also cooldown reduction item, when you get a kill or a assist it subtract 1 sec of all your skills in cooldown.
Divine Ruin: This item is important against gods with heal, cause besides the penentration this gives to you 40% of healing and regeneration reduced when you use a damage skill. Use this instead of Spear of Desolation. If the god with healing is in your lane use in third item.

Defensive

Mantle of Discord: This item is importante against gods melee ( Erlang Shen or Ao Kuang)
Magi's Cloak: This item is important against Ares for example, your passive works lookslike a Purification Beads.
Spirit Robe: If the enemy team have much control ( Kumbhakarna) use this, every time you are hit with a high crowd control you gain 15% mitigation additional.
Stone of Fal: When you hit by a damage more of 20% your max health this damage is reduced by 10%.
Celestial Legion Helm: Every 2 sec out of combat you receive 7 physical protection, up for max 5 stacks, when you receive physical damage you lost this protection.

Skills and Combos

Skills

Royal Assault

You should start with this skill, besides this being the skiil with more damage this meets the minions of front, that has more life, and attacks them with the fist of Argus gives a second damage, now in all minions. Also thats have a high power of poke, when the enemy is hit by the both fist its deal a 15% more damage.

Polymorph

This skill of line type is very important to clear the lane, in the early game Hera dont have the power necessary for clean the lane, this skill gonna help. Its importante too for stop gank, its transform the enemys gods in monsters jungle, silencing them.

Divine Shroud

Its a defensive skill, its create a shield in herself and gain movement speed. When the Argus is on, he gain 50% speed and create a aura of extra damage, is important you stay inside of aura for gain this aura extra power.

Argus, the Defender

Argus jump in the enemys and knocking up all enemys in the area, after he chases the enemy more close. You can control him using the skill again for call him back and using one more again aiming at the enemy you want for him chases that enemy. When you call him back, he protect you chases the enemy that get closer.

Commanding Presence

The passiva os Hera, 's cooldown is reduced by 1 sec and Devine Shroud's cooldown is reduced by 0.33 sec ach time Hera deals damage to gods with her skills or basic attacks. When Argus in on he is healed.

Combos

Basic poke, try hit the enemy whenever possible. Is very important to you use first, its cause slow in the target and its easier for you to hit .

Combo to kill the enemy, it often cause a lot of damage.

If the enemy continues alive after the second combo, just use and let the Argus finalize the work.

For scape, give to you more time and stop the enemy.

If you have Staff of Myrddin

Gameplay and TF's

Early Game

Focus in clear the lane, whenever possible poke the enemy. Be careful with the ganks, wards could help you. Wait the gank of your jungle for help you a kill the enemy or the xp camps.

Mid Game

If you win the lane, try gank duo lane, if the enemys are advanced, the solo lane could be more difficult to gank but you can try too. If you lose the lane, kill the xp camps of mid and the red, dont need wait the jungle for this. Now you can kill the enemy alone, try to do it.

Late Game

Group up with your team, DONT walk alone, you are a easy target. You need to participate in EVERY team fights. Help the team in objectives. Argus is very important, use him whenever is possible, he is a very powerful guard defender, besides the aura of extra damage.

Team Fights

Stay in back lane, your skill have a long range, avoid the contact, let the tanks make this job for you. Use the Argus and abuse to use for gives to your team the extra power aura. The high cooldown reduction allows you to use the skill a lot of. Dont worry in hit the both fist in TF, just use, whatever comes is profit.

Match Up

If you have more ideas of Match Up's please comment and explain why.

Ares

is great with several gods, your ulti can push every team and stun them, if your is good, after him use the ultimate use the third combo (if you have use the fifth).

Hades

The same for , your ulti can hold on the enemies to close, do the same how you do with .

Ymir

can stun the enemy easier, so when him frozen the target is more easy to you hit your combo, besides he can use the to arrest the enemy make it easier for Argus.

Your 2nd build overcaps CDR by 10%. I would swap Chronos’ for deso but u can find your own way. Ideally you only want 30% cdr max in a mage build because of Power pot giving 10% cdr.

Starters need fixing:

Start 1: Tier 1 shoes is an awful state for a Mage in Mid. If you're not going to build , and you want to rush into , then you can start with either , , 2 s and 2 s, or, you can start , and 1 . Ideally use the second start as it means you can go , and then straight into . If you use the first start, then get instead. Example full Build: , , , , , . Sell lategame for or .

Start 2: Fine, but you should list 1 and 2 s.

Example Build: Needs some tweaks. straight after is not ideal, and also your build caps CDR at 40% which is not ideal when exists and can give you the 10% CDR you need to fill the cap. It's better to go a route such as: , , , , , . Sell lategame for .

If you really wanted to have in your build, you could go: , , , , , . Sell lategame for .

As for "Defensive Items": wouldn't really be built on a mid laner in most circumstances, it's better to consider instead. As for , this item doesen't really do much for squishy mages so I would just remove it. Also add as a defensive option, as well as .

Relics: You only need and on Mid laners, and isn't exactly the best user of , so we can stick to the first 2 suggestions.

Also, regarding + + . Yes, both and can help you bypass the CDR cap with their passives, but isn't the same case - instead only providing a flat 10% CDR, so unless you really want the extra burst damage/heal proc from , then it isn't really worth getting all three items in your build.

Is chrono pendant even worth it? I used to get it a lot but been messing around with other builds and not missing out.

Also I never tried LS on Hera, is it worth it?

Some people think Chronos’ is bad currently. Personally I think it has it’s place in some builds like Book Of Thoth one’s (on certain gods like Merlin that need some CDR) where you go something like Thoth > boots > divine/magus > obs shard > reaver > chronos’. But quite a few mage items have CDR that u don’t need Chronos’. As for LS, Bancrofts can work as an early game power spike item, soul gem can work for the burst procs, Pythags is decent too but probably more of a consideration if u play Hera in Duo (with Hunter Mid).

Deso spear is like core in most builds. Great item.
You're most likely going to get shamans.
Soul or myridin for another 10%cdr and remaining 10% from pot.
Remaining 3 can be whatever (my preference: reaver, estaff, and Tahiti)

I'm not sure how good LS is with her though... never had trouble deleting Squishies with her combo. I've not tried myriddin but I think instead of rod it'd help you delete Squishies too but then you'll have OOM problems

Chronos' basically isn't the main source of CDR for mages anymore, you can build it on 3 slots of you build (Deso, Shaman's and SG), but if you want to concentrate all the CDR in 1 or 2 slots only, chronos still worth. And you will have an additional slot for a non-CDR item.

hi, all is correct, but i must tell you that having obsidian shard as your 4th item its not really good, because you're not gaining a lot of value from it. You should get spear of desolation in its place... (still get obsidian shard but later)
