Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.
SMITEFire is the place to find the perfect build guide to take your game to the next level. Learn how to play a new god, or fine tune your favorite SMITE gods’s build and strategy.

I don't feel as relevant in a match if I delay
As of now, proposed build after

But experiment and see what suits you best.
In this case, it's the already brought up double stacking situation. Kriega has a good point about
- A bit more early pen could be functional. If you indicate getting
Mage's Blessing as the starter (which I'd assume here but you didn't actually list), then that CDR means you could switch
Shoes of Focus to
Shoes of the Magi. This specific comment isn't addressing a replacement for
Warlock's Staff, it's just my first point.
Rod of Tahuti late could also be nice...paired specifically with
Book of Thoth and
Soul Reaver, you've got a ton of power to get a really nice power boost on that passive, and you WILL get effect from that passive in a teamfight.
- More ability spamming via
Chronos' Pendant can also give you more damage overall...less burst, perhaps, but more sustained. As a solo CDR item, it would be plenty of CDR for the entire build.
- Also, if you're talking damage potential, are you talking overall for the completed build, or for an advantage at specific points of the game? If the 2nd point, then Warlock's 2nd is going to slow down your threat at that early stage of the game. I understand getting it 1st in a double-stacking situation, since it requires more stacks, but
Book of Thoth will give the better early-game damage advantage, between the two.
So, that was devil's advocate. Don't get me wrong, I love Warlock's purely due to the fact that it gives a lot of health and I suck, so that would be my general pref.Upon feedback and experimentation, I don't think I prefer this route anymore. I like to be more active in the early/middle stages and take advantage of Janus' superb utility. I have made the builds more comprehensive, and you should find them more agreeable now.
Thanks for the feedback!
Here is what you should build instead:
If you really had to Keep
If you don't need anti-heal (which you will in most games) then swap
I recommend you check out the builds that some pros like Wlfy use for

The builds will be noted though.
I tried the builds you suggested by the way. They felt nice. I think I like that early
Thanks, again!
