In this section I will go over what items are strong on Jormungandr
, why they are useful and when to purchase them
is core for the beginning of almost any Solo lane build at the moment, having reduced damage, extra health, Health and Mana +40 for every 10 seconds for hitting a god and the +15 Physical and Magical Protections are too good to turn down for any Solo laner for the start of the game.
Shoes of Focus
Some people may prefer to build Shoes of the Magi
now due to the higher power and lifesteal for sustain in lane, however Jormungandr
does so much damage on his own, that he appreciates a slightly bigger mana pool and cooldown reduction to be able to get this damage off more often and win boxing matches in lane.
Jade Emperor's Crown
This item is what makes Jormungandr so frustrating to play against in lane, he does more damage, becomes tankier and you now do even less damage when boxing him, making things really difficult. The earlier you get this the better, because Physical enemies can easily pick up more power and render the passive useless. It might be a good idea to swap it in the late game for something with a better passive.
Tyrannical Plate Helm
The Tyrannical Plate Helm
is also as good as the Jade Emperor's Crown
while in lane, but works in a very different way. It will buff your minions, making it harder for them to clear wave, and when they die nearby it will grant you extra Magical power. Let's also not forget the strong stats for fighting any Warrior in the Solo lane, high power, decent Physical defence, health and CCR can make you a huge pain to deal with. However, in the late game the base stats kind of fall of relative to his play style, and the passive is also not as useful so pick up as your first or second item and swap it out later for something stronger.
Stone of Binding
This is particular to when you are against a Magical solo laner, such as Sobek
. You need Magical protections for Sobek, Physical in case of a Jungle gank, and Magical power to help your wave clear and poke. Stone of Binding
does all of that and it gives you flat penetration for hitting enemies with CC, which Jormungandr
has a ton of, hitting any god with one of your 4 abilities will reduce their protections. Due to the items low cost and base stats this is another early game item that you would need to switch out for something better later on.
By itself, Ethereal Staff
has become a staple for bruiser Guardians, the amount of maximum health gained from it can be ridiculous, plus with some nice base stats of Magical power, health and CCR there is very few times you wont be picking this up. Now on Jormungandr it gets better, because you can have up to 9 areas of Venomous Haze
on the ground at any time, which is 9 large spots where you can proc Ethereal Staff
. This also goes for items like Divine Ruin
which is handy against healing team comps, but overall see's the best use stealing health and mana. Ethereal Staff
is a strong item to pick up at any point in a game, but it is most efficient to purchase in the mid game to take you through to the late game.
Mantle of Discord
Okay, everyone knows Mantle of Discord
is a strong defence item, that works wonders on any build on any class. This helps you achieve your late game front lining potential with high defence stats, however, you can really push the limit with your ultimate escape and overstay because if people try to lock you down while you're ulting to escape? It silences them all and you can escape safely, because of the high price and it's higher potential only being reached late game, you should maybe be buying this 5th/6th or replacing your boots with it.
