Chains extend from Ares' shield, doing damage to all enemies in its path. Hitting a god shackles them to Ares, Cripples them, preventing movement abilities, dealing the same damage every second while slowing them by 15% and buffing Ares. While shackled, Ares can fire another chain for free within 2s. Jungle Camps take an extra +40% damage.

Arena is not that complicated so this will just be a short why this is built the way it is

small insight on build 1

Build 1 - the point of this build is to keep there magical defenses to a minimum and pretty much delete any enemy that u get with your chains, if you hit all three chains and use searing flesh, it should kill almost any god in the game besides bulky warriors and guardians, but they should be down to at least 30% by the end of the combo, with this you will be focused down by the whole team so team work is crucial to make sure you can do damage, also with your ult you will ether get 3 gods every time or the enemy team will save the beads for you allowing your team to use cc more effectively

a little more power if needed

build 2 - this is almost the same build but with rangdas mask which you give up cdr for straight power, in testing this is slightly more powerful it will kill even guardians if they don't build to defend against the power, most times though the bulky warriors and guardians will have 10-15% health left. you will be taking more damage with this though so play carefully and don't try for more then one kill at a time

side notes

note: this can be probably made better if you wanted to ult spam or be more bulky but i prefer to be a real damage threat and have the ability to make the enemy's have to account for me at all times to allow teammates cc to be more effective

So you never got deleted upon attempting to blink in? Especially considering the Rangda's Mask pickup?

Or is this just another stomp Arena noobs build?

Things I would build:

Shoes of Focus: Ares has fairly long cooldowns, and these shoes help with that. Plus they have the same power as Shoes of the Magi and are cheaper.
Sovereignty: Sov? In Arena? Yes. Not only does it provide physical protections for both you and your allies, you also get the extra 30 power from it being an aura item. It's also fairly cheap, so you can get it right after boots or after...
Void Stone: Good protections, decent health, and 50 power combined with Ares' passive. Oh, and it has protection reduction as well.
Pythagorem's Piece: Power, health, lifesteal for both you and your allies, and CDR. Plus it's an aura item, so that's another 30 power.
Mystical Mail: protections, health, and an aura item. Plus you can do a bit of extra damage to enemies you have Shackles on.
Spirit Robe: To counter-act that pesky CC, plus it has CDR.
Midgardian Mail and/or Witchblade: Got a lot of basic attackers on the other team? Well, slow 'em down! Don't buy Hide of the Nemean Lion with either though, because you want your enemies hitting you enough times to kill themselves. Get hide for anti-crit, the other two for anti-AA.
Oni Hunter's Garb: if you find yourself struggling to stay alive while blinking in, grab this for some extra damage mitigation.
Gauntlet of Thebes: like sov, it provides health, protections, and a bit of power due to Ares' passive. Get this 2nd or 3rd if you're buying it so you can stack it quickly.
Relic Dagger: so you can blink + ult more often. Plus the stats are good.

As for your build items and why I don't recommend this build:

Purification Beads: there are better team oriented relics out there like Magic Shell, Shield of Thorns, Phantom Veil, Heavenly Wings, and Horrific Emblem that beads just aren't that good.
Rangda's Mask: you're going to be focused when you ult, why make it easier for the enemy team to kill you? Besides, your job isn't to get kills, it's to set up your team and you really don't need that extra damage; plus it's not a good trade-off with the extra damage you'll be taking.
Gem of Isolation: not really needed because shackles already slows and there are more team-oriented items to consider.
Spear of the Magus: this is a good item on Ares, but your mage should be building this depending on what type of mage they are (burst vs. dot). I'd only get it if my mage hadn't and we're ahead so we can stay ahead or if I think we really, really, need that extra damage. Most games I don't get it at all.
Spear of Desolation: why? Sure it's a decent power item, but why? Its stats aren't that good considering what your primary function is: tank and setup. Seriously, never buy this on Ares.

I would consider Breastplate of Valor in arena too, so you can ulti as much as possible.
