Anhur-Shu, The God of War

August 30, 2017

Hi. This is General Guide for Anhur. It uses an Auto Attack based build with Critical Chance items. If you didn't find what you were looking for or want a different play style, check other guides. Feedback is appriciated.

Pros and Cons

Amazing early game
3/4 of his Abilities have CC
Highest Damaging ultimate from a Hunter
Great Escape
Works well with a team
Basic attacks and some Abilities reduce Protections

Shifting Sands can block allies
Impale has relatively short range
Disperse can be countered by Gravity Surge and Cripples
Desert Fury won't deal full damage unless you can aim all 8 shots of it
Like all other Hunters, squishy

Ability Priorities

Upgrade Desert Fury whenever you can. Impale> Shifting Sands> Disperse for the rest. If unsure, follow the Skill Sequence above.

" Anhur's spear attacks reduce the enemy targets physical protection for 3 seconds."

About Items

Starting Off

Death's Toll
Sustain; gives Mana and Health upon successfully landing a basic attack. Sell this later for Deathbringer

Spiked Gauntlet
A bit of Lifesteal for now. Upgrade this to Devourer's Gauntlet.

Ichaival and Full Build

More power as you land basics. Nice attack speed and cheap too. Especially great for boxing. For example, if you and the enemy ADC's basic attacks deal 100 damage each, after 3 basic attacks from you your basic attacks will now deal 130 damage and the enemy ADC's 70. Sell this later for The Executioner.

Devourer's Gauntlet
Your sustain. Gives you 55 power and 25% lifesteal in total at max stacks. Try to last hit minions in order to get stacks.

Ninja Tabi
I prefer this over Warrior Tabi due to the Attack Speed and Mana.

The Executioner
Percentage penetration. Your main source of penetration, goes well with Enfeeble. Not recommended to get with Titan's Bane because they counteract each other.

The Crusher
Since you'll be landing your basics a lot, you'll benefit from it's passive more. Gives a decent amount of power, some attack speed, and penetration.

Gives the highest crit chance from any item. 35% at max stacks. You can also get before The Crusher if you feel that you won't have time to build the stacks.

Makes your crits deal more damage, usually needs another crit item to be more effective.

You should almost always get this. Hard counters No Escape amount other high CC ultimates.

Aegis Amulet
Useful to avoid high predictable burst damage before it happens.

Phantom Veil
You should only be getting this if there's an enemy Odin due to his Ring of Spears. Even then, you can just use Disperse to leap over the wall. Only get this if you feel you need it, which you probably won't.

Cursed Ankh
You should either get this or brawler's beatstick if there's a healer such as Aphrodite.

Brawler's Beat Stick
A decent amount of power and pen. At also inflicts an Anti heal. Get this if the enemy has a healer such as Aphrodite. Replaces The Crusher.

Wind Demon
More attack speed and mobility upon crits, this replaces Rage.

Shifter's Shield
Gives some defence and a large amount of power. Replaces The Crusher.

Don't forget to ward, it could save your life and prevent ganks from Enemy Gods. You should ward in clash, conquest, joust, and siege.

Gameplay Stages

Early Game

This is when Anhur is strongest. Why? His base stats are higher than a number of other Hunters and gods alike such as Cupid. His CC and Basic Attacks together make him considerably strong.

Depending on your Team/Support or sometimes even you, you can choose to either start the game in-lane clearing lane minions or getting Jungle Buffs or helping allied gods get Jungle Buffs.

If you're new to Anhur is suggest you play more passively than aggressively. Once you feel you're confident enough you can try to be more aggressive and use combos such as Shifting Sands and Impale.

Mid Game

Continue getting Jungle Buffs. You're still strong, but you're starting to get weaker in comparison to gods who bloom late game like Artemis. You can also Ward the jungle to prevent ganks. Push structures when you can. Wards should warn you if there are nearby enemies.

Don't forget to called MIA, it is extremely important and will act as a warning to nearby allied gods. Sure, they may have wards, but this will make sure they're more prepared. Remember, preparation doesn't hurt.

Late Game

Be very careful, this is when you're weakest. Gods like Artemis can probably outbox you and out damage you. If there are still Structure try to push them. Be careful though, once you start attacking an enemy lane minion or structure you'll be revealed on the minimap. If you're the only on alive on your team don't push objectives, you'll end up making it a deicide leaving enemies free to destroy your structures.

At this point enemies will also try to push objectives. You can also ward in front of objectives so you'll know if anyone's gonna push in advanced.

Anyways, try to conserve Mana and use your Abilities wisely. Anhur goes well with gods who can create walls such as Odin. Early game he can bully enemy gods until they're hiding under their tower. Late game however, you'll have to be more catious as this when gods like Artemis get quite strong. Don't forget to Ward.

I will keep the guide updated. Once again, feedback is greatly appreciated.
