WHO IS ARACHNE?

Arachne is, in the biggest part, a basic attack based assassin. She was one of the first gods released into this game, and from her release she has been climbing and falling off the meta between all seasons and updates.

Arachne was reworked in version 1.0.2298.3 (September 10, 2014) and received a whole bunch of new abilities. Some of them were kinda like the new ones, and some weren't.

ARACHNE'S LORE FOR NERDS

Once, a beautiful and talented weaver of cloth and fabric, a single prideful mistake made a monster of Arachne for all time.

With loom and thread, there were none more skilled than the mortal Arachne. Viewers traveled leagues just to see her art. So wondrous and majestic were her tapestries, it was said the spinner must have been instructed by the patron Goddess of Weavers herself, Athena. To this comparison, Arachne proudly scoffed, claiming not even the Gods rivaled her talent at weaving.

When Athena heard this, disguised as a crow, she visited Arachne and encouraged her to show proper respect to the Gods. Arachne dismissed the old woman and issued a challenge that no God, not even Athena, could weave better than she. Furious, Athena revealed herself and accepted the challenge.

They both set to the loom with fervor. Athena wove a glorious tapestry depicting her battle with Poseidon over the city of Athens. Her detail and imagery were exquisite. Yet Arachne's weavings depicted Zeus in his many infidelities with mortals. So flawless, so lifelike was her artistry, not even Athena could refute the skill, nor could she contain her anger at such a sleight. Violently, she tore Arachne's tapestry and pressed a finger to Arachne's forehead. Twisting in anguish, Arachne fell to the ground as additional legs grew from her body, screaming as she transformed into the first spider.

It was an act of anger and pity, a lesson and a curse, for spiders are the greatest of weavers, and Arachne, in particular, was to weave for all time, but none could doubt the consequence for Arachne's pride. Still, within her twisted heart, Arachne never forgave Athena, consumed by a dark hatred that can be sated only by the destruction of the Gods.

Poison claws (Passive) Arachne applies poison on every physical attack that hits. The poison ticks every .5s for 3s. It stacks up to 3 times.
⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰
Broodlings (First ability) Arachne lays spider eggs. Enemies getting too close to the eggs cause them to hatch 2 spiders that attack the nearby enemy, slowing them and doing damage every second. Arachne can only have 1/2/3/4/5 eggs deployed in the battleground.
⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰
Drain life (Second ability) Arachne pounces on her melee target, silencing and damaging them while healing every .5s. Right clicking or being disabled (stun, fear or silence) will knock Arachne off.
⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰
Tangled web (Third ability) Arachne spins an entangling web at a location. The web will remain on the ground for 3/3.5/4/4.5/5s. When an enemy steps or goes through it, is heavily slowed.
⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰
Cocoon (Ultimate ability) Arachne fires a web projectile towards her enemies. If the web hits, it deals damage and stuns as Arachne pulls only one enemy to her. This ability can go and pull targets through walls.
⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰

Why did this Arachne model failed?

⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰

All assassins in this game are supposed to have good instant burst. They also need good mobility and good ganking potential.
The old arachne failed at two of these three. Cocoon was a good ability to gank someone (and it had a 30 second cooldown which is crazy), but all she could do after that is use her Drain Life, or use her basic attacks. Arachne had a really bad burst, way too much CC/utility based abilities that sacrificed damage, and a real lack of mobility.

Arachne's passive was probably the best part of her old kit. It procs way too many times, and for way too long! The ability really used to fit her playstyle (It fits her new playstyle too, but sadly they didn't keep that) and it was really easy to kill squishies with it.

Arachne's Broodlings... This is where most of all failed. It's an OK ability. You can set an ambush inside the jungle (which would imply an enemy being really dumb to step in the trap) or poke someone if they mis-step.
But if you think about Arachne's playstyle, she needs fast and consistent damage. Transgressor's Fate is the same ability, but you can apply it only three times at once. The thing is that this ability includes way more valuability when it comes to CC (and even damage).

Now, old Drain Life was a cool ability. Not a really good instant burst damage development, but the ability itself dealt 360 (+125) damage, but this one was not immune to crowd control, and it was Arachne's main damaging ability.
It could be interrupted. And when interrupted, Arachne had not a lot to do.

Tangled Web was bad. I understand the intention of the 50% slow. Giving a no burst assassin the ability to apply her basic attacks easily. But sacrificing ANOTHER no burst damage ability only for no hard CC? Trash.

Now, old Cocoon was a really good ability. It dealt good damage, it included consistent crowd control, and it went through walls. Also, it had a stupid cooldown (30s at all ranks).
Cocoon was a really good ability which was placed in the wrong assassin. All her whole kit seems support-ish in a part, and the broodlings weren't a good idea.

Arachne, thankfully, received a whole different kit (Bye felicia) and now finally archieved a decent positioning into the meta.

Well. Arachne used to have all these weird abilities that maked her look like a supportive character. She had undeniable good CC... And that's about it.
She had poor gank potential over enemies without her ultimate, she had 0 mobility, and her main damaging ability could be super easily interrupted by any hard crowd control.

Arachne's old web was garbage. The ability was really good at zoning, but all it contained its a slow in a limited area. And nobody is so dumb to walk in a circle and get 50% of his movement speed negated.

Tangled web (Old third ability) was changed by Web. New Web includes her old Broodlings, which were her first ability, which was also somehow trashy. Web as you can read up there, has something more than a slow. Deals damage for itself, marks targets hit and reveals them, and garantizes her high additional movement speed while moving inside her web path.

As Web replaced two of her old abilities, all it was left to replace was "Drain Life", her main damage (If we can call it like that).
That's where Venomous Bite comes in the show. Venomous Bite can go on cooldown if not used fastly enough, but it still better than her old healing ability.
Venomous Bite altough not out-scaling drain life, it does more damage and heals more.
Venomous Bite fits both the old and the new Arachne.

Then, we have Cocoon (the new one, not her old ultimate).
Cocoon was added mainly because this new arachne without the same ultimate had a crowd control lack (She only had a slow).
This ability replaces no other ability, but hitting all 3 shots grants you any kill, and that is something none of the old abilities can give.

Night Crawler...
Some of you will disagree with me (a lot of you), but i think Night Crawler its much better than her old ultimate. The old ultimate was pretty... Boring, i suppose. It was an ultimate with no crazy base damage or healing, and altough the stun was cool, Night Crawler makes Arachne the squishies' biggest nightmare, giving her the potential to chase ANYONE.
Also Night Crawler can be used defensively to escape easily from bad situations (Its additional movement speed + a leap) and its way easier to hit when an enemy is juking.

It would be a bad idea not to buy Warrior Tabi ASAP and ALWAYS. A bunch of power its always needed, and the movement speed is ideal to catch enemies easier, runaway or chase.

Arondight seems pretty strong right now. It has nice cooldown reduction, and an amazing ammount of physical power. The passive is perfect for arachne since she is slow based and she benefits from all kinds of receiving any movement boost.

⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰

The famous Stone Cutting Sword its a core item for basic attack based assassin (with some exceptions, Awilix). It gives you movement speed, the perfect passive, and cool power.

⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰⊰

The Crusher and Jotunn's Wrath are your best penetration options in this current season. Both items are giving you decent penetration and damage. Jotunn's gives you CDR and some mana, and Crusher gives you attack speed and a damage passive.

Core item if the enemy has healing. Really good penetration and power, but which is more important, the utile passive, to kill characters such as Ra, Aphrodite, Chang'e, Sylvanus.

Arrows: Gankeable places / lanes.
Stripes: Pathing.

Here, you should get your Yellow Buff (1) with your mid laner, or alone sometimes. Then, go straight up to Blue buff (2). This will increase your clear velocity ( Web which should be your level 1 first ability will be ready to use again) and then go to XP harpies (3, backcamps).
Fight for mid harpies (4), and gank the mid laner (5).

After that, choose wisely.

Mid harpies / Enemy red buff / Ally red buff.

Mid harpies: go around your side of the map, and then go for your red buff.

Enemy red buff: Go around the enemy side of the map. Try to zone the entrance to the jungle with Web if you can (This is not highly necessary, but useful). Clear, and then go back to safety (Red buff, or mid harpies, or clear the mid minion wave).

Red buff: Clear your red buff.

Direct yourself (If not completed) to your void camp (7*).
If completed (as most of the times should be), go to backcamps (7*).
Repeat this process, and back only when out of mana, out of health or pockets full of gold. Try to gank lanes, mostly mid lane and duo lane.

Very agressive pathing.
Complete yellow buff (1), and go straight for your allied red buff (2). Get your mid harpies (3) and gank middle lane (4*).
In case the mid laner is too far back or has been soloed, or for any reason is not on the lane, go for enemy red buff (4*) followed by your mid laner.
You should not runaway, you should be spying mid lane and trying to fight whenever you can.

This shows Arachne's best performance in early game.

WARNING: It can go wrong, it can go right. Nothing is 100% secured.

Sorry for that cringey Windows XP star though, lol.
As soon as the match starts, go to the mana buff (1), and apply Web. Wait for the respective cooldown and repeat this 3 times.
After applying the third web, back as soon as possible, buy Assassin's Blessing and Mace / Katana, 1 healing potion and 1 multi potion and go to yellow buff (2).

After mana buff has been completed, blink into the mid laner and kill him with Web (With no / late beads this is pretty much a guaranteed kill).

I see you looking to work Arondight into your a build. I don't know that that's an optimal place for it, though.

The Crusher probably isn't the optimal 1st/2nd item. It's got good stats, but the passive isn't all that great for her. Also, her clear needs all the help it can get, which is why in almost all cases, Golden Blade is rushed.

You pick up Aron after Crusher and Boots, and I'm guessing it's for gank potential. But if you're using web well, you don't need that crazy MS chase potential, as you also have your ult. SCS is just a superior item, for damage potential, for the base MS, etc.

Mantle of Discord is a functional protection item for her, but Magi's Cloak should also be an option (again, just builds and not having a list of item options, is less helpful).

And yeah...that tanky/mixed build, I'm not sure what the focus is (doesn't seem like there is), but you're CRAZY overcapping CDR. That's 70% once you've got full build and boots replaced.

Would definitely suggest an archive until you're done with this, but your builds need some improvement here.

i had no idea pridwen had CDR. I did not know that you could archive things either way, but thank you. yes these builds do need reworks.

Don't know if you meant Aron or Prid, as Aron is in your build list but Prid isn't mentioned anywhere.

In the case of Prid, it's not a suggested item for her. She's mostly basic-attack oriented, and although the CDR is nice, the passive shield wants a lot of other protections to have been built. She's going mostly damage here, which means Prid isn't optimal.

You can archive your build if it's unfinished.

Also the builds need work. Last 2 especially. First build - I would swap Titan's for Exe since you have crusher and stone cutting and Arachne is AA-based.

3rd build - overcaps CDR.

2nd build - I'd get Qin's over Titan's. Also not sure both Mantle AND Spirit Robe is necessary.
