Introduction.

Note that the items in the purchase order are representing rank 3 items (except starting items).

First of hello and welcome to my guide. I'm baartd (in game), I just started playing Smite a few days ago. Vamana was the first god I had unlocked. After playing him for a decent amount of games I developed this item build. So I started to write a guide for him.

How I play Vamana.

I mainly play Vamana in a duo lane.
Then there are two ways to play him:

Play aggressive and harass/going in for kill but be sure not to push the lane. Best time to initiate is when you have more minions then they have.

The other way is to push them 24/7 in to their turret so they get less gold.

The best lane partners for playing aggressive are : Anubis and Sobek because they have good cc and damage combined with yours.

The best lane partners for pushing are : Ra and Ao Kuang for obvious reasons.

NOTE: Read skill order if you want to play the pushing style!

Items

Start with rank one reinforced boots, rank one Breastplate of Valor and two Healing Potion.

Finish reinforced boots then Breastplate of Valor then follow the rest of the build.
Late game get either a witch stone or a Hide of Leviathan depending on the enemy team.

In between items you can buy one of these: Heavenly Agility, Creeping Curse, Purification Beads.

The oder you buy them doesn't matters. Just buy them on the basis of your situation.

Get: Heavenly Agility if getting ganked alot.

Get: Creeping Curse if you need more cc for kills.

Get: Purification Beads if they have heavy cc.

Be sure to get them all by the end of the game or when you decide to start having team fights.

Skill order

Skill order for a aggressive lane:

Colossal Fury Max first.
Armored Umbrella Max second.
Umbrellarang Max third.
Clear The Path Max last.

Skill order for a pushing lane:

Colossal Fury Max first.
Umbrellarang Max second.
Armored Umbrella Max third.
Clear The Path Max last.

Update's and future guides.

What I'm planning to add:

-Pros and cons list

-Small jungle guide

-Laneing phases (for both aggressive and pushing).

-What ever you guys want to see.

I'm also planning on making a Ymir, Odin and a Sobek guide vote in the comments which god you want to have a guide for first.

i find anyk of the bear to really help
EDIT: also stone of gia is good as a third item for him i personally don't like this build but this is definitely a tank build. I use a totally different tank build and max my 3 first...as it does more damage and better clears lanes

I've been using this build in arena as of late and it is fantastic for survivability! I have yet to got negative with it; only dying 2-4 times if I'm unlucky. Just a fantastic build!

this biuld is ok if you want a tank, and if you biuld mag deffence you should buy bulwork of hope because it gives u health, but stone of gaya does'nt. i dont build vamana like a tank, vamana is a perfect bruiser and ankh of the bear is better then breastplate of valor.

Awesome build. I've been tanking like a mofo with this built and it is next to impossible to die without being focused on in a team fight.

I don't fully understand some of the choices.

Love this build, it never ceases to amaze me, the amount of my deaths in each game is either 0 or rarely 1. The assists and kills are both good, of course assists more then deaths because I use him as a tank so my friends always get the kill.

Most times pushing means winning!

That's an amazing build! I play it liek this all the time and own everything :). Sometimes I swap the items and build Hide and Stone and after these build the sword. Also a good tip to remember is : Know when to run away. It always feels so humiliating to run away from battle when you're tank, but thanks to HP regen from these items you will be able in a few seconds just turn around and own their faces ^^

Really cool guide. +1

Thanks for your feedback NolifeKing. So the thing about Stone of Gaia is that it gives a lot of magical protection for a relative cheap price (2280). Besides that the passive stacks with his ult so it will give him 5.4% health regent. Vamana's base hp stats are 480 +85hp a level. So at lvl 20 he has (480 + 85 x 20 = 2180) 2180 base HP. By that time you all ready bought Hide of the Nemean Lion which gives another 200 hp that makes 2380 hp. Without his ult he will regenerate (2380 / 100 x 0.4 = 9.52) 9.52 hp/sec (this is at lvl 20 with Hide of the Nemean Lion).

Here are some calculations:

Lvl 20 base hp = 2180.
Hide of the Nemean Lion = 200hp
witch stone= 250hp
Stone of Gaia = +0,4% hp/sec
Colossal Fury = +5.0 hp/sec

Lvl 20 + Hide of the Nemean Lion + witch stone + Stone of Gaia.
(2180 + 200 + 250) / 100 x 0.4 = 10.52 hp/sec

Lvl 20 + Hide of the Nemean Lion + witch stone + Stone of Gaia + Colossal Fury.
(2180 + 200 + 250) / 100 x 5.4 = 142.02 hp/sec

This is a mere calculation of having those items combined with Stone of Gaia.

So the hp/regent of Stone of Gaia's passive is pretty useful.

So the reason is that it's a cheap item for magical protection and that the passive (combined) with your ult pretty useful is.

The reason why I go for witch stone is because it gives more physical protection, physical power, attack speed, health and a debuff aura against enemies (-15% attack speed & -25 physical power). And the role I build Vamana on is a tank. The damage is just a extra aspect.

The reason why I go for Hide of Leviathan is that it gives some really nice stats that Vamana could use if the enemy team is more magical power oriented.

About Deathbringer the 20% crit is useless. Theoretically you only crit 2 out of 10 attacks.

ah also for the control lane ,first, you should level up umbrellarang to 4level so you can kill minnions in 1 shot then you can go with armored 1 level clear the path is enough (for escape or chase)

Hmm, well as i see you go full tank but wamana can be more flexible god.
Stone of gaia really useless for this item building other items not giving hp at all, i think you can remove gaia and put frosthammer so you can be more annoying and usefull for them and of course its for your giant so you can hit more and as i see if you try to go with that item building you have to not killed and kill always if you cant game must be like 40-60mins so all other players will be 20 and full set already, and it will make your job harder so remove witchstone and but it deathringer you can hit harder and critical well still you have hard phys protection but now you are more usefull and stronger.
