Updates

Update 1(11/14/13):Adding a Advanced more competitively effective Build as Build 4 advised to me by HellDragonX68(a streamer(Twitch:Dragon536)(link to the actual twich http://www.twitch.tv/dragon536) he is also found often at the Smiteboard stream on twich(http://www.twitch.tv/smiteboards)(in case you guys are wondering) this build will be a No boots build taking advantage of Maximum Velocity passive effect in order to give you a great damage out put a somewhat risky style of play but can be highly rewarding if done right i also re did the pros and cons

Introduction

welcome to my overall 11th guide and it will be on Mercury the Fastest God Alive he is in general a fine jungler and solo laner and can even try to duo lane sort of... this guide does not cover duo lane yet

i will assume that you know the basics of what AA FG GF AD and AP mean as well as AoE MIA CD and CDR but just in case:

AA - Auto Attack

FG - Fire Giant

GF - Gold Fury

AD - Attack Damage

AP/MP - Ability Power/Magic Power

AoE - Area Of Effect

MIA - Missing In Action

CD - Cooldown

CDR - Cool Down Reduction

HP - Hit Points/health bar

MP - Mana Points

HP5 - Health/hit Point Regeneration per 5 sec

MP5 - Mana point regeneration per 5 sec

DoT - Damage Over Time

HoG - hand of gods

Pros and cons

Pros:

+ Strong Late Game

+ Very Fast with the passive of his Maximum Velocity

+ good jungler

+ good poke with Made You Look

+ Made You Look counts as a AA and can crit hit and apply on hit effects

+ good ultimate Sonic Boom covers large distance depending on charge

+ great ganks

+ has a CC in the form of Dash Special Delivery that can also be used as a escape

Mercury Fastest God Alive

Cons:

- squishy god so weak to strong burst

- can have some trouble or slower clear times in the jungle

- often focused

- Melee ranged fighter

- CC is very effective against him

- Sonic Boom can be stoped by wall spells or spells with similar

- Made You Look can apply negetive on hit effects such as the passive of midguardian mail or stats from Zeus and his shield of aegis.

- Hard to master

Skills

Passive: :the more you move around before a AA the more damage it does in general a good passive as you often move around while AA you will often get minor boosts to the damage out put you do also turns 25% of the movement speed from items and buffs into bonus AD for us

in general: a fair passive not Super Mega Amazing or really bad its just a fair passive that does it Job - though very late game at full build its quite a whole lot more then fair and can be brutal on a critical hit making the crit go as high as 2k damage in case of FG buffs and pots ect...

Spell 1: :a good poke or finishing them off spell but it depends on being a critical strike for its damage mid/late game the applying on hit effect part is also nice

Cost: 50 mana.
Cooldown: 8 seconds.

in general:a good spell we max this first for its poke and finish of potential

spell 2: : your steroid and its really strong extreme attack speed and immune to slows and roots(nerfed out no longer root immune) its passive also makes you move faster which is awesome we max this 2nd

Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 mana.
Cooldown: 18/17/16/15/14 seconds.

in general: a great steroid for you

spell 3: :it may not do much damage but its CC is great and can make enemy gods be helpless for around 1.5 - 2 sec if you throw them against a wall

Cost: 70/75/80/85/90 mana.
Cooldown: 15 seconds.

in general: a amazing CC spell that can net you a lot of kills if used well it also makes your ganks awesome we max this last

spell 4: :this is your ultimate and its the longest and fastest dash in the game with a good CC element in it its only down side is it has a short charge up period the more its charged the more it dashes up to a cap of 500 feet or so it also deals good damage in general and can be used to either initiate or disrupt teamfights into your favor

Cost: 80/90/100/110/120 mana.
Cooldown: 90 seconds.

in general: a Awesome Ultimate which we love just be careful of walls as said in the cons section we max this when we can

you can also chose to max the steroid first while only getting Made You Look to ranks 2 - 3 its your choice if you want to switch between these to or max 1 and then the other find what feels right to you

Items

here i will explain my 2 main builds the bruiser ish/tank build is just for fun

Build 1 - The All Rounder Build - this build is focused on being a safe build and will give you a strong late game

1 - Bumba's Mask this item is must if your jungle or Death's Toll if your solo though this 1 is optional some prefer rank 1 boots and actives/wards instead

2 - Ninja Tabi my boots of option having the ult on a 60 sec CD is batter then a 90 sec CD your steroid CC and poke is also on a all lower CD though Warrior Tabi are also viable

3 - Rage even though we don't have much AD our crits will go from 120 - 250 or so damage per hit and our Made You Look can crit for 350+ damage

4 - Bloodforge this item gives us some life steal and makes us harder to kill also gives fair AD and its passive gives us more of it and life steal

5 - Deathbringer 50% more crit damage and 50 AD and 20% crit chance whats not to like here? also works with the crits from Made You Look

6 - Golden Bow some movement speed AD crit chance and its passive is good 2 and works with Made You Look

7 - Titan's Bane it gives AD and 33% pen and its a nice pick for us since were somewhat at the cap for attack speed with steroid and Rage though if you really prefer it The Executioner can be taken here as well or even Qin's Blades since there passive with our speed means we can dish a ton of damage

Build 2: this build gives you very high AD and makes your crits hit ultra hard though it lacks pen it still hits really hard

1 - Bumba's Mask if your in the jungle if not you can just skip this item

2 - Heartseeker this is a snowball item and gives movement speed along with a lot of AD at full stacks (75 AD] and with our passive Fastest God Alive we get a small bonus (5 - 10 more AD or so)

3 - Ninja Tabi for above reasons CDR is really good but as mentioned Warrior Tabi are viable as well

4 - Transcendence this item gives some AD and Mana and MP5 but its passive gives a LOT of AD(3% of max mana)(that is 30AD for 1000 mana and the item gives 750 mana)(in general by the end of it you can get around 60AD from its passive which is a total of 95AD or so with its base)

5 - Bloodforge i usually need some life steal and this item does it rather well

6 - Rage i get this item after the bloodofroge but you can also get it instead of the forge if you need the crits sooner you then get Bloodforge as the 5th item instead of the 4th

7 - Deathbringer with this your crits can go up to 1000 - 2000(with max passive and on a target with not to many protections) and its other reasons are mentioned above

i would usually list other item options but this is not my most played god so i did not try out to many things if you have anything that you would like me to add put in comments a and list some reasons

i will cover build 3 once i perfect it into a serious build for now its a build that makes you a bother and fair threat but i would not recommend it for competitive play

Build 4 Explanation

1. Bumba's Mask for obvious jungle sustain

2. Golden Bow for its AD crit chance movement speed and Passive which works with

3.right now depending on how your doing in the game and how much gold you have at hand you go for either 1.devourer's Gloves(you would get these for there high AD and life steal values) if your at around 1.5k - 1.9k gold if you managed to go around and gank without going back for a while and have enough for a rank 2 Deathbringer(which we would get for its high AD and crit value and passive) then go for that and finish it first then go into devourer's gloves as your next item instead if you got them 2nd then Deathbringer is your next item instead

4.once the above 2 mentioned items are finished you go for Bloodforge for its high AD and life steal

5.next up we would have Qin's Sais these make up for our lack of pen in this build as with our speed the bonus damage we deal is more or less the amount of damage we would be doing with pen

6. last we get Rage for the obvious crit chance Malice is also a a option

Actives

1 - Hand of the Gods this is a must for most junglers

2 - Sprint at rank 3 this removed the slowed while AA penalty mechanic and due to our passive Fastest God Alive we get more AD when we pop this and that means we are about to AA without slowing down while pounding out 3-4 crits per sec(AA Progression) for a full 5/6 sec so in general it can turn you into a even greater killing machine the normal

3 - Combat Blink for escaping or additional chase potential

4 - Eye of Providence free wards are always good just make sure to put 1 down every 60 sec

5 - Purification Beads for the obvious immune to CC for 3 sec and cleanse effect

6 - Aegis Amulet in case of really strong burst from the enemy team

7 - Shielded Teleport lets you teleport to wards to help in unexpected fights ect...

SpeedForce & You (this covers casual gameplay)

Depending on if your solo or jungle you would go with the next type of start:

Solo lane:

1.a - if the solo lane is on the same side as red buff you help the jungler with mid neutrals red and get your blue then hit the lane

1.b - if the solo lane is not on the same side you would like to grab your blue buff alone with a HoG or steal the enemy blue buff if you can(risky) then hit the lane then watch and make sure they dont steal your own blue buff and take it when the jungle does it for you(which should be around the time the stolen one weres off) that is if you went for the steal that is (it has risks if its warded its like a free first blood)

Solo lane Gameplay: in the solo lane you want to poke with Made You Look while also hitting arachner minions since your push is not mega strong you can use Hand of the Gods to help with the push killing combo is simple after some poke and that Made You Look is up you can use Special Delivery and throw them towards a wall use Maximum Velocity and then start landing AA while there flying/rebounding off of the wall then hit Made You Look in case they get out of AA range and finish them off with Sonic Boom

there is a 2nd option as well were your use Sonic Boom then AA then use Special Deliveryand throw them into a wall while activating Maximum Velocity and landing AA on them and then as they try to run away hit Made You Look for the kill this deals more overall damage but make sure they have no escapes up slows and roots are ignored with Maximum Velocity

in the jungle(casual jungle(usually teammates wont let you change this up):

1 - grab mid neutrals

2 - then red buff

3 - then give solo/duo there blue buff

4 - grab the small neutral camps

5 - go do the other sided neutral camps

6 - the mid neutrals should be re-spawning grab the left sided ones and have mid grab the right sided ones(don't let the enemy jungler have or get them)

7 - gank mid if possible

8 - grab your speed buff (red should were off by right about now)

9 - grab the re-spawned small neutral camps at left side (if there not up yet they will be soon)

10 - you now gank left lane if possible if they took the blue buff at the start it should be up soon unless you somehow were so awesome that you did all of the above in less then 4 min(ganks and all)

11 - in case they did not do the blue and a gank is not possible do the blue and leave it to them if gank is possible gank then do blue for them

12 - red buff should be coming up around now and you want to get it if you managed to do all the above without a back go to base and get rank 2 Tabi

you now have 2 options i will make 1 path 13.a(safe option) and the other 13.b(risky but high reward option)

13.a1 - do the now re-spawned red buff

13.a2 - there should be a bit of time 10 - 15 sec at most before blue buff for right side spawns you can see if a gank is possible if it is gank then do blue for that lane if a gank is not possible take some lane tax about half a wave and then go do there blue for them then move along

13.a3 - get mid neutrals if there up(they should be) and have mid help you with them so that you can share that exp with him and give him a edge after this you move into 14 but first 13.b

13.b1 - check how the lanes are doing and try to steal the enemy red & blue buff with your team ideally ambush there jungler as he starts doing it

13.b2 - after this grab the left sided mid neutrals/gank mid if possible and then follow it up by getting the other mid neutrals on right side then get your own red buff

13.b3 - after your own red buff head towards your blue buff and get it for that lane and/or gank if possible then you follow it up into step 14

14 - you now head towards your speed buff which should had re-spawned by now and follow up with the blue that should be up as well...soon if its not up do a small neutral camp

15 - after the above step look if that lane needs some ganks and then go back to base and finish of the items

16 - repeat above until mid/late game starts depending on how things go

Some General Advise:make sure to take a bit of tax(take exp for a minion wave or a few minions) if you need it per gank and make sure to place some wards if you can

also if lane is doing bad and it looks like the chances are low for a kill you may want to gank the lane just to help them out so that they dont lose a tower/die ect... in other words dont forget that a gank is not a I MUST KILL THEM thing its a assault done by the jungler to help the lane and in the best case net a kill for him self and/or kills to said lane

in case you wonder why i dont have more rotations to the mid neutrals its becouse your mid should be getting them when you cant or are 2 far away to reach them on time in order to make sure the enemy jungler does not pick them up so make sure to pay attention when the mid takes them so you know when they will be up again

mid/late game: in general you roam a lot less and start sticking with your team make sure to poke with Made You Look before a teamfight starts as late game it can hurt a lot and is hard to avoid use Sonic Boom to turn team fights in your favor or help initiate thats the ideal here (example rush through the enemy and into there back side your tank blinks in with CC( Ymir is used for this example) and focuses the CC on the obvious targets ADC(attack damage carry/hunter) or APC(ability power/magic power carry/ teamfights based mages in general or magic AA like Freya or Chronos) then your team follows it up and you hit from behind if possible and ect.. and the obious thing Ward late game every 1 should ward even more so if at a full build ect... Vision Wins Games

SpeedForce & You Build 4 Jungle Gameplay(Competitive start)

Mercury in the Competitive scene is best placed and seen in the jungle and this will cover how he should start(this is in general the ideal start for casual as well but 85% of casual players wont let you carry it out)

We start the game off with Bumba's Mask for its sustain & mana regen we also get Hand of the Gods at rank 1 also we would start with a potion of physical might those are our starter items we now head off into the jungle

all of the bellow is based upon the fact that the duo lane should steal the enemy duo lane's blue buff or at least try to do so

1.we start at mid camps with ideally 2/3 players usually mid you and solo(duo should be trying to steal the enemy blue buff)

2.a after the above start you would ideally want to go for the blue buff right away with the solo then you would go and solo red buff(when we start this we drink the potion of physical might) then you would follow it up with the 2 small neutral camps at your end you then do the blue buff for your duo lane(since they steal the blue from the enemy they dont need to take the one on your side) you then go for the now re-spawned mid camps after those we move to step 3

2.b after the above start at mid camps you would run and solo red buff as the duo lane steals the enemy blue buff if they manage to pull it off you meet up at your blue buff and do it then go on and do the 2 small camps then follow up with the solo lane blue buff(he should not pick it up if he needs to pick up something for the exp he should pick up his sides small neutral camps with a Hand of the Gods as they should re-spawn by the time you reach them again) after this you would go to the soon to re-spawn mid camps then go into step 3

3.now we can either gank mid unless it pushed or that the guy is tower hugging if it is go pick up the other mid camps and/or speed buff then try again in case the mid is still tower hugging you should by now have enough for a rank 2 golden bow so go and pick it up

4.we now repeat the above steps while adding ganks at the other lanes as we pick up buffs of course this is assuming that the lanes are not pushed and or well warded in case they are be careful and gank if its a real option but in general you repeat above root until mid game starts then you still try and pick up buffs but also stick with the team when your needed for team fights

How To Gank

when it comes to ganking there are a few types of ganks but in general to sum it up these are the main forms:

1.you walk in from behind hit some AA use Special Delivery when they try to run and throw them towards creeps and your ally god then keep up pounding them hit Made You Look if they have low HP and are running away if there still alive Sonic Boom can finish them off

2.in case there is a 100% kill guarantee if you can keep the enemy god in place or throw them into the ally god then just open up the gank with Special Delivery and throw them towards a ally that can follow that up with some hard CC and/or burst as there landing ideally killing them as they land or try to run

3.some ganks can start with Sonic Boom followed by a 1-3 AA then Special Delivery then throw them towards the ally god while giving them a pounding if they some how dont die follow up with a Made You Look as the enemy god should be at 10 - 70 HP by now if the ally god did anything at all

Summary

I hope my Updated Mercury guide can be of use to you guys and once again thank you for reading

Nice guide but you do know that you can add more than one purchase order thingy in a build, right?
It will look more organize.
