Introduction

Welcome to my guide for King Arthur, The One True King

My name is WiltotheShire. Xbox player. I play casual as I hate waiting for ranked queue.. I play mainly solo in conquest and dabble in the jungle with Achilles. hehe This Guide is for Arthur King Arthur in the solo lane.

Feel free to comment your opinions and suggestions.

My first guide o.o

The One True King

King Arthur does Arthur things

My name is WiltotheShire bringing you a guide on King Arthur.

Arthur is well Arthur and does Arthur things such as spinning to win and anime ulting his opponents. Jokes aside he is a physical based god with a variety of abilities set on auto meaning, you click a button and off you go. Combining these abilities together is the key to building energy and then burning it by ulting, which the anime ult has no cooldown. He is an in your face god applying enormous pressure in the front line and bulling the back line squishes to his hearts content. Once you grasp his play style he is incredibly fun to play.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
  • Good constant damage
  • Incredible harassment and bully capabilities
  • Great mobility and escapes
  • Natural damage mitigation with energy gain
  • High CC
Cons:
  • Little sustain early game
  • Hard to play
  • Weak early game
  • Hard CC counter Arthur hard

Building Arthur

Arthur is an in your face god who applies a lot of pressure to enemy gods, he has to be in order to build his energy up. Getting a point in all of your abilities is key right from the start then building your 1 fully first then the 3 followed by your ult and then the 2. I find this build to be the most efficient for me. Item wise building tanky is a good start if you are still learning him, as you gain more experience you can start building more bruiser.

CDR is always nice on Arthur but isn't a must for him. Overall its your play style so find what works for you. I tend to be super aggressive myself.

Items

As far as items go I am not going to talk about starter items or anything like that. Just each item that you could build and why you might want to build it.

Gladiator's Shield This item is a must. The passive it provides by healing 2.5 percent of health and mana is key in team fights. It procs on every of his abilities but not only that it also procs on every god that is hit. So it stacks per god. So if you hit 3 gods with one ability. that is 7.5 percent of health and mana that you get back. It has saved me in team fights more than I can count.

Warrior Tabi As far as boots go this is prolly the better option for the power boost. Straight forward really movement speed power and sold for a different item late on.

Void Shield If the Solo laner is physical I almost always go void shield for the extra damage and defenses. The passive works well to weaken the enemy gods defenses as well. This allows for more pressure in lane.

Genji's Guard So when you are facing a magical solo this is the item I usually go for my initial magic defense. It provides defenses health and cool-down reduction so you are able to combo abilities more often which is always good for Arthur. The passive takes time off your cooldowns if you are hit by a magical ability. I almost always have this item in my builds cause it is a good magical defense item as well as on being on the cheaper side.

Blackthorn Hammer Some people ask why blackthorn hammer. Well for me its mainly for the health which as you know from glad shield the more health the more you heal up. It's passive is nice allowing Arthur to stay in lane longer because of the mana sustain when mana is low.

Pestilence The obvious reason why you would build pestilence is for the anti heal which reduces healing done by gods in range. The health boost is also a nice plus.

Spectral Armor To often I find myself being straight shredded by hunter and auto attack gods. This items make them do half their normal crit damage which can save your life if you are trying to fight or get away. Also since CC is crippling to Arthur the CC reduction helps with that.

Midgardian Mail This item is good for keeping the auto attack gods off your back, not much to it really just reduced their movement speed and attack speed. The health is nice however for glad shield procs.

Hide of the Nemean Lion This item is to help counter auto attack gods as well by reflecting 25 percent of auto attack damage.

Soul Eater Why soul eater. well when its built your abilities heal you for 15 percent of the damage dealt. Great way to heal off minion waves and combine with glad shield in team fights makes you difficult to kill. Cooldown and extra power are also beneficial.

The Crusher I get crusher on occasion if I want more power. The pen is nice but the attack speed does nothing really. As for the passive it procs on every ability and damages an enemy god for 20 physical plus 15 percent of your power. It can add up over time. If I do buy this items its usually after boots are sold.

Brawler's Beat Stick This item you would build to counter healing as it procs on abilities which Arthur has 8 of. So its a nice replacement for crusher if need be or if your team needs anti heals. If I do buy this items its usually after boots are sold.

Gauntlet of Thebes Gauntlet of Thebes is one of my favorite items if not my most favorite defense item. With the buff it now gives you even more health but isn't really useful in the lane phase as you need passive stacks. it provides hp5 275 health and 50 physical and magical defense once stacked as well as an aura for your teammates. It is a nice item for late game but difficult to get stacked in the solo lane. If I do buy this items its usually after boots are sold.

Runeforged Hammer Runeforged hammer gives you power health and a nice passive that procs on 2 of Arthur's abilities. The 15 percent extra damage on cc targets can go a long way however if I do buy this items its usually after boots are sold.

Spirit Robe This item is a good overall Item for Arthur is provides defense for both physical and magical. It also provides cooldown and cc reduction which goes a long way on Arthur. Its passive provides damage mitigation when hit by hard CC which can save your life. If I do buy this items its usually after boots are sold.

Mantle of Discord Mantle is usually my last or second to last Item built most of the time after blackthorn hammer lately. The defense it provides is great. It adds to the cooldown redcution and if you take damage below 30 percent it stuns enemy gods around you for one second and makes you cc immune. This passive can be devastating in a fight especially since you can then land you abilities and heal from glad shield allowing you to comeback on the opponent/opponents. A must have in my opinion.

Hope this helps you understand why I build some of these items in my builds.
In games where I am building more damage I will usually by a 3k defense pot to boost my defenses. It helps a ton.

In my opinion the must haves on Arthur are
Gladiator's Shield
Mantle of Discord
Genji's Guard

Do Arthur Things

So you want to do some comboes huh? Well he has many and you can even come up with your own. HI-REZ has their own combos that you can look for but I am going to share my own. No fancy names though.

Combo 1: > > >

Combo 2: > > > >

Combo 3: > > > > > >

Team Work

In team fights you as Arthur want to bully the backline and keep your squishes alive. With Arthur's mobility it is easy to bully the enemy backline and disrupt the team fights. As Arthur you can easily 2v1 enemy gods, depending on the comp that is. With healing from glad shield and constant pressure you are a nightmare to deal with, and in my opinion can easily dominate almost any mage/assassin and some warriors, guardians and hunters. BULLY THE BACKLINE and you'll be set.

Stages

Early
Arthur is weak at the start and can be easily out cleared, play it safe and calm until you reach level 5 and have glad shield. Start applying pressure then.
Mid
This is where Arthur starts to shine since his damage and clear are coming online, maintain tower pressure and rotate out for ganks and assists if you can. Once the tower is down, well free reign on the enemy team..
Late
This is where you are bullying the enemy backline and staying in the fight being a nuisance. Your damage starts to mello out so it takes more hits to take a god down, but thats okay you are Arthur and staying in the fight is what you do.

Tips

  • Don't be afraid to be in their faces at all times, run if you have to but have confidence in your healing with glad shield as that is a must for Arthur. Do this and you can survive any gank and even turn the tables.
  • Play passive until level 5 and glad shield is up, a lot of people think Arthur should be aggressive out of the gate but you are easy to kill and gank.
  • You are not invincible but you can out live the enemy if played smart. Covering a retreat and retreating yourself is easy to do with the sustain from glad shield and your movement.
  • Watch for heavy CC gods as they can shut you down if you are not careful. Ruining your combos and making you vulnerable to attack.
  • Lastly be careful what you build, some items are useless on Arthur, but I still say experiment to your hearts content.

Summary

You are The One True King. Arthur is a bruiser, you stay in the fight and disrupt the enemy team by forcing other gods to peel in order to deal with the constant pressure you put out. Being able to rush in and attack the backline is key as well as fun! Chaining your abilities and avoiding the cc if you can and you can dominate the enemy team. Just make sure to keep that energy up.

Recent Game as Arthur

Using one of my builds, Stat wise I did pretty good, we got too aggressive with little people up and lost..

Arthur is a big boy xd pretty op and easy to play,i would change that from pros and cons. Either way nice guide

WiltotheShire | March 26, 2019 7:58pm
I appreciate the comment and feedback, I have to disagree though. He is not that easy to play trust me on that one. He has a hard learning curve which in terms of difficulty can be hard or easy for different people. I get what you are saying. I get messages all the time on xbox,"op god""scrub""trash" just because I am beating them while they are playing to my strengths. I am aware he is OP in certain regards. But he can also be countered easily if you know you are playing against him. I eat Arthurs for breakfast when I face them in the solo lane as different gods because I know how he works. I do appreciate the feedback though. I might change it :D

Yeah know how to play arthur helps a lot in countering him, either way currently at the SML he is a ban-or-pick god.About being easy i will agree with you by him having a good learning curve, there is a lot of difference between a good and a bad player. The thing is that he can do so much by just spamming abilities cause of god mechanics, thats why i consider him someway easy to do things with it.
I hope some of the ability spammers read your guide and learn about correctly playing :)

You have a good writeup, but I'm with Kriega in regards to some of your item choices. I know you mention why you pick them in the notes, but I'd like to see a section explaining the reason for each pick; not everybody who comes here is an expert. I'm also curious as to why you keep glad shield instead of buying a tier 3 item.
1
WiltotheShire | March 24, 2019 9:42pm
I just finished making a section in building arthur with reasons for each item, as per your suggestion. Hope it helps.

Gulfwulf (81) | March 24, 2019 11:46pm
Thanks. There's some stiff competition in the warrior category so every little bit you add helps. :) I'll take a look at your changes later and provide feedback. For now, take a +1 for the guide.

WiltotheShire | March 24, 2019 8:34pm
I can work on that, tis my first go at a guide after all. As for keeping glad shield, well it is an item that works really well on Arthur throughout the whole match. He has 8 Abilities which all proc the passive so having glad shield at all times is a must in my opinion. The passive also stacks per god hit as well not just one god.
1
Kriega1 (143) | March 24, 2019 5:38pm
The Crusher in a solo lane build? Not quite sure Runeforged Hammer is suitable for a solo lane build either.

Why does your "Example Final late game build" still have Gladiator's Shield? You sell it lategame for a better item, not keep it. And if you're going to be building Soul Eater it should be earlier in the build so you can stack it.
1
WiltotheShire | March 24, 2019 8:45pm
Well crusher is nice for the damage boost in the late game not really useful in the lane phase. I mean you don't need it of course but if you want more damage its a nice item. Same with brawlers. As for Runeforged Hammer again not a lane phase item but nice late game for the passive which procs on 2 of his abilities. It really depends how you want to play More tanky vs more brawler.

Like I said in another comment glad shield procs on all 8 of Arthurs abilites making it very useful. It is in my opinion a must have for Arthur all game. It is kind of OP on him. Of course if they run anti heal thats then you might need to build differently. Really Gladiator's Shield is the best item for Arthur.

As for Soul Eater its stacks build passively as well so in the late game its not hard to build them if you are running around grouped as the waves get cleared fast.

Let me phrase that I sell boots for these items as well

Also another thing, you don't need the picture of the Merlin skin to be that big on the page.

yeah I didn't bother to change cause I was to busy trying to figure out what I wanted to say in the whole guide. I'll mess with it.
