Flames of the Phoenix

1 X
Yu Huang conjures four cinders of the phoenix, spreading them in an X shape. The cinders rush inward, dealing damage once as they travel. When the cinders meet, they explode in a field of flames that persists for 3s, burning enemies inside. If Yu Huang is Attuned, when the cinders explode, all enemies in the area have their Magical Protections reduced.

Ability Type: Ground Target
Cinder Damage: 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 / 65 (+25% of your Magical Power)

3 B
Yu Huang calls forth the Pearl Dragon from beneath him, banishing himself into the air and becoming untargetable. He then gracefully floats back down to the ground in a controlled flight, damaging enemies where he lands. While Yu Huang is floating, he may refire this ability to increase his downward momentum, causing him to fall faster. If Yu Huang is Attuned, the Pearl Dragon follows him as he descends, knocking back any enemies beneath him.

Ability Type: Banish
Damage: 70 / 120 / 170 / 220 / 270 (+50% of your Magical Power)

4 Y
Yu Huang manifests a huge surge of dragon-shaped energy, becoming CC immune and summoning the Pearl Dragon to oppose him. He then has 3s to aim his dragon of energy toward the Pearl Dragon, who will charge directly at it. Both dragons damage and push enemies caught in the blast. If the dragons collide, a damaging explosion occurs in the area. If Yu Huang is Attuned, the width of the dragons is increased by 50%.

Note:

I'm working on multiple builds, and haven't had the time to fully flesh him out yet. I hope to add to my build soon on guru and fire, But for now this should get you going and give one a idea of what to do and build your way from their. For arena just use the biggest hitting items as per usual ;p or the mid build will work fine.

Oh yeah a thumbs up would be appreatiated if this helped,

Thanks,

Hi Katura,

Looking to provide some comments on your build recommendations. Hope you don't mind.
  • Blessings and Upgrades: You currently list the 2 standard mage blessings and what I'd consider to be the appropriate upgrades (Sands -> Pendulum and Conduit -> Focus). I don't know that he's a good option for Jungle though, and wouldn't suggest providing that option. Reason being, he doesn't have any real mobility to move through the jungle more quickly, and his clear isn't the best. For now, I'd eliminate Eye -> Protector.

  • I'd say you don't need to aim for 40% CDR. 20% should be enough, with flex for a Potion of Power later if you have the gold. Reason I say you only need 20% CDR is because Yu's base cooldowns are not bad. 30% is also fine but I don't think 40% is needed.

With that in mind, I'd suggest offering a Sands of Time build and a Conduit Gem build since you're recommending both of those.

Based on my recommendation thus, I would say you might plan your build around if you need Divine Ruin or not. If you decide you don't need anti-heal, you can choose if you want to get Spear of Desolation or Spear of the Magus. Magus obviously offers some lifesteal which means you may or may not then opt for Soul Gem. See, lots of item combinations to consider. Of course, you can still get 2 flat pen items, but that combo is not as strong as it was a couple of patches ago due to the minor nerfs.

Maybe we should back off a bit and determine what we consider to be core.

    - Starter/upgrade
    - 1-2 flat pen items ( Spear of the Magus, Spear of Desolation, Divine Ruin)
    - Minimum 20% CDR (30% is fine, 40% is not needed)
    - Minimum 20% pen ( Obsidian Shard or Charon's Coin, or combination of something like Rod of Tahuti + Staff of Myrddin)
    - 1 Lifesteal item ( Spear of the Magus or Soul Gem)

If you're in agreement with the above, then here are some builds that include key item combinations to make this work. Items can be built in different orders than shown if preferred.

There are obviously many other combinations. Rod of Tahuti isn't as core anymore (though still good and you can confirm Calamitous if you land his 2), and good flex picks you should consider as options would be Soul Reaver, Staff of Myrddin, Ethereal Staff. Others may suggest different builds than these. On any of those examples, you can also switch the different flat pen items as preferred.

  • Relics & Upgrades: Outside of extreme circumstances, I really think you should limit your recommendations to Beads and Aegis. Cloak shouldn't be recommended at all outside of perhaps Assault mode.

  • Skill Leveling: You made a mistake...you have 6 points in the 1, and 4 points in the ult. That should be fixed. Also, first rank of ult is level 5. 2nd point of the 1 should be at level 4.

  • Joust Ranked Build: I think Charon's Coin is built too early here. As a % pen item, you should build it mid-build. Also, Ring of Hecate is likely a very poor choice. Don't be fooled by his passive basic attack function...that's a bonus, not something to focus on. As you already have Magus also, you don't need another lifesteal item.
Hope this info helps. Would be curious to hear your feedback.

Hey thanks for the tips, i know this site is a bit buggy so i noticed some things didn't equate good. It kept rewriting items names and build points. But these are just starter builds, until i get the time to make a unique build. On the Jungle thing lol yeah he sucks but it doesn't matter to me, i just am running with the idea of making multiple builds for people who want to use him in any situation. I plan on doing it with others too, but there wasn't really anything out there for him at the time which is why i hit all the build sites up for people that didn't know what they were doing until i get the time.

Actually i have a build that uses staff of mermaiden i just haven't posted it yet until i get to actually test it in a match. Thanks again for taking the time to throw out the suggestions its actually quite similar to what i was already planning on doing.. ;p

On Relics the cloak i just have in there for yeah people who play assault and such i assume that people who look at the builds have at least a idea of things they want to do in the game and are using the builds as a template to figure out what the god plays with.

But yeah some of the items listed are only if your playing certain modes and such but i could be wrong, I'd like to hear what people think if they know or not whether certain relics are for certain game modes or not? or are they looking at builds from a completely never played type of mindset?

I would probably say that most people that look at builds here are on the newer side...not completely fresh (as those probably use the auto-build feature or just go with the recommended list that the game provides.

Regarding using items in specific modes, that's a semi-complex question. I might make some generalizations here.
  • In Assault, yes, Cloak of Meditation is commonly used, even on gods that usually wouldn't ever pick it up. It's just a basic staple for that mode. Based on that, I would still recommend dropping Med from your list of relics. But even if Med is commonly used in that mode, doesn't mean you default to it every match there. If you've got a god that doesn't have some form of CC immunity, and the enemy team has an Ares / Cerberus / Xing Tian etc., you might want to go for Beads.

  • In Assault also, some regular items are sometimes more commonly used than in other modes, or prioritized earlier, due to not being able to back and heal. Items that provide sustain (lifesteal, HP5, MP5) can be very helpful there, so you'll see more Sovereignty, Stone of Gaia, Soul Eater, etc.

  • Starters are most helpful and most specifically designed for use in Conquest. In all other modes, it depends on how often you're likely to back and how helpful it is to stay out as long as possible for more efficient farming. For example, I still think starters are functional in Slash, and often in Joust, but I feel they're of situational use in Arena. In this concept, I don't think you need to identify separate builds for Mid and Joust. I think general Mid builds will work just fine for a Joust mode.

  • In your Solo ranked build, I still wouldn't recommend going with basic attack items. You're going to be out-pressured like crazy if you're trying to use that functionality. It's important to consider how helpful the ability is, and if it's worth building synergies w/ items. In the case of his basics, the added functionality of the chain is only when he's at 50% or higher on his Dao...and it only chains once for 75% of the original damage. He has no other basic attack function in his kit...no AS steroid, no enhanced damage, and that chain won't do anything if he's 1v1 boxing. So building AS items doesn't really make sense for him. I'd personally drop that build altogether.
