Also, I saw your updated build. Don’t ever get Charon’s and Shard in the same build, get either but not both (just not optimal building). Also Soul Reaver is a must on Merlin.

And I have no idea why you mentioned Demonic Grip. Merlin is not a Mage “Hunter” / Mage ADC and doesen’t really benefit from that item through application of it himself.

Better build: cdr boots > magus > divine/Deso > Reaver > Soul Gem / Charon’s Coin > Myrddin > Sell boots lategame for Ethereal Staff / Charon’s / Soul Gem.

Relics: Aegis/Shell, Beads.

You're not the only one. Overcapping CDR by that much id not efficient building.

I tried many builds for merlin but they don't work as well as this one but I do tend to change of breastplate for Staff of Myrddin and Genji for either gem of isolation or Divine Ruin depending on the situation but I only go for a casual play like arena or assault cuz I don't like how toxic competitive play can be... but if there are any improvements I need to make please let me know

Cooldown reduction (CDR) is capped at 40%, so building more than that is just inefficient building. With your current build you have 70% CDR:

You should drop both Genji's and Valor because you rarely need that much protections; in those cases where you do, is a much better pickup due to its passive. Also, in most modes you'll want to pick up a , which has 10% CDR, so going over 30% isn't usually recommended. You may not be able to always buy that in Arena because of how quickly matches can go, but it's something to keep in mind.

You only have 20 flat pen from and Deso, which isn't nearly enough. You want some type of percentage pen like , , or . Sure has 10%, but it's not usually recommended due to how difficult it can be to fully stack; plus you really don't need that much health since you have an escape in . Warlock's is also not very good right now.

In Arena (or pretty much any other mode outside of Assault), the only two relics you should be giving serious consideration to are: and ; none of the others are really useful except for meditation cloak in Assault, where it should be picked up first. Teleport Glyph is really only useful for the solo laner in Conquest and should generally only be picked up by the support/guardian/warrior. Yes beads and aegis are a bit selfish, but you don't do your team any good when you're dead.

All three chalices are useless, especially in Arena due to their cost and how close the fountain is. In Conquest you're looking for s and s to start off with, but you generally don't need to buy more after mid-game. And wards are nigh-useless in both Arena and Assault unless you're doing something cheeky like using glyph to teleport to the enemy's Titan while they're attacking your team.

The above are the reasons as to why I cannot recommend your build. I'm free to discuss anything you disagree with and/or want more clarification on.

Hi, Thank you so much for the advice if you have a look now I have changed it but kept a few of the original items like Chronos and shoes. if you got any more advice like for skill sequences or anything about the build. and please if you could have a look at any of the other build I have made and see what you think

Overcapping CDR in itself isn't bad, but it is when you have items that I would describe as a having the sole purpose of increasing your CDR, instead of a good item with CDR.

I would consider , and to all be those types of items. In a build you should only need one of those, let alone for a Merlin mid build the 2 defences are very situational and as you say for a single item slot you get nearly as much prot with some CDR and a better passive.

Personally, I think it's the other way around. Overcapping CDR in itself isn't good because you're introducing some inefficiency and wasted stats to the build. HOWEVER, overcapping can be acceptable in very specific circumstances and when you're specifically getting strong use out of those items' passives, for example.

This is why I called the build inefficient. There's nothing wrong with overcapping a stat as long as you're getting good use out if your items' passives, but that wasn't the case here.

I wouldn't say that you are dumb by any means this is just a build that suits my play style and can be very flexible depending on a situation
