Cernunnos Build

Starter

Notes Gleaming Ear Cuffs it's a tier 2 item with great stats for the early game, but it's even better if you back quickly to buy the tier 3 Griffonwing Earrings

Leather Cowl it's another good option for a starter into Devourer's Gauntlet without wasting too much gold, but loosing some early pressure with Griffonwing Earrings on the process

Notes The only negative about this build it's the lack of attack speed with Cernunnos, but there's a way of not losing too much of it, replacing Rage with Bladed Boomerang

crits vs tanks

Notes Replace Griffonwing Earrings with Fail-Not or Deathbringer

Right now tanks can counter crits really easily with Spectral Armor so I would recommend to keep doing an anti tank build with Titan's Bane and Odysseus' Bow, but if you really want going crits, this build should help on balance crits, %pen and attack speed

alternatives

Notes Leather Cowl Hunter's starters are not great but this one in particular it's really helpful on early instances of the game providing some extra life steal and 20% attack speed with the passive that can be activated easily on joust, can be upgraded

Asi it's a nice substitute of Devourer's Gauntlet but it lowers your output damage a bit without those +15 of flat pen, even so the extra 20% of attack speed it's really good

Bladed Boomerang Not the best but nice alternative for Rage if you're struggling with attack speed and %crit chance

Titan's Bane Strong antitank item, only recommended as last item if you are struggling a lot with them

Hey ElLobezno,

This season I've mostly been playing Joust due to mostly being on when 2 of my friends are playing. That's pretty unfortunate, because I honestly hate this older map and wish they'd go back to the newest one.

Anyway, have had a lot more recent experience with Joust, especially with the change dropping the availability of starter items. Would like to toss in my thoughts.
  • If you're grabbing T2 Griffon (with its 15 MP5), I wouldn't go for a mana potion at the start. I'd probably just suggest 2 or 3 healing potions and maybe 1 multi. I guess if you're being super aggressive and using both your 2 and 3 offensively you might need more mana, but otherwise I'd forgo.

  • I've tried Asi and Devourer's Gauntlet, and also gone without lifesteal with various gods. Based on this...
    - Asi just doesn't feel that great.
    - Devo's is probably my pref. While the stacking takes a bit, the flat pen you get feels somewhat impactful.
    - No lifesteal can allow you to go into Exe / Qin's earlier, which isn't a bad thing, and with Cern's Spring, you can get a bit of lifesteal. I feel that's an option.

  • On the Crits build, I think I prefer a slightly different setup. I haven't tried Rage for a while but I really like higher AS on Cern. Even though the crit % is less, I would go Griffon -> Devo's -> Qin's -> Exe -> Demon -> DB. If I were to get Rage, I'd probably drop Exe (or Dom) in-between Rage and DB, but I think that might be preference more than anything.

  • On your Crit vs Tanks build, assuming this is a 2 tank 1 squishy enemy setup. I wouldn't drop DB here, and don't value CDR as much on a god like Cern, who's a fairly pure basic-attack ADC. I'd consider Fail on the gods a bit more reliant on abilities, like Medusa, Danza, etc...even on Hachi, as more ults and long range poke are very helpful. I'd just still go DB for Cern, and it will do more DPS IMO even against tanks than getting Dominance in that 6th spot.

  • I've been prioritizing Shifter 2nd over Horn Charge. I get the CDR in leveling Horn, and maybe I should see how that feels.

Hey!

I'm in a similar situation with Joust right now, I'm not a real fan of this map, wish they make a new one or just remake the older one (s1) cuz I really miss it :c

With T2 Griffon I only stay 1 or 2 waves until I get enough gold to buy T3, the pot doesn't really matter, but it's right that a multi pot should be better if you trade too much

About the builds, I'm also tried Asi but it has no pen what makes it really bad in comparison of Devourer's Gauntlet that gives +15 flat pen, although it doesn't have any attack speed, feels much better once it's stacked.

On crits build I personally wouldn't recommend going Demon Blade over Rage I prefer having more physical power and crit chance in this case, however, Bladed Boomerang should work on keeping some crit chance and attack speed
Also, the reason I choose Dominance over The Executioner it's mostly for the passive that benefits direct hits and auto-cancels, that boost short trades with your crits just like Hydra's do with assassins'

On crit vs tanks build I choose Fail-Not over Deathbringer just for the extra %pen and stats. However, DB would be a lot better with it's glyph, but against tanks I would recommend buying Exe's glyph The Ferocious Executioner instead

For me Cernunnos it's the most aggressive adc of all, so maxing his 3 should be helpful in both ways, as a defensive dash or an aggressive one, but be wise, once you try it there's no way back...

Man, I just don't like the requirement to pick up the drop from Boomerang...it bugs me so much that I just don't get it most of the time.

Typically I like > 50% crit chance but I also really like a mid-game Qin's so in the end, I'm mostly okay just going 50%. I'll try Rage out and see how it feels, but again, I typically like higher AS.

I've been playing mostly w/ 2 others, but here's an example where I was only w/ DV-8 and a solo queuer and I went Cern...my MMR at this point had dropped down below 1600 at this point (has been as high as > 2300) but I was still technically in Diamond. Since the 2 I play with are more East coast I usually play there, but this was one of those where I was able to play West (where my ping is like 30, which is way nicer than 90 and noticeable for me when I'm ADC). Went with the build direction I was talking about, and it does feel generally good though the spot between getting Exe and getting DB (with Demon in between) does feel a bit like a lull in DPS. Maybe your path feels smoother, again I will try it.

More often than not though, we're on East and I end up being tank. But I do like when I'm able to ADC. I also do like being aggressive with Cern when possible.
