Introduction

Welcome To My Ultimate Guide On Hades For Every Role

Hi I'm SleepingMisery and I've been playing this game for well over two years now and for the most of that time on smite I've played and enjoyed the hell out of mages and being a Hades main with 7 stars at least shows that I'm somewhat competent on how I build and so today I'll be giving a full guide for any lane you wanna play in conquest and feel free to use my main build in joust, arena, and just about any other mode because it works great.

Also before I get into this I just wanna put out a quick thanks to Hades4u ,Zilby , Big damage , and Nanoyam who helped me with some of the basic coding and giving me great ideas on how to improve my builds

Which Items To Build and Why

Now here's a full rundown on my usual build and why I use what I use
So just like Anubis which I'm sure we all love, Hades is pretty much life steal based so don't even think about not building any.
Bancroft's Talon
My first item and yours to should always be Bancroft's Talon and once it's built you're going to be set for your mid or solo lane and it helps a lot with your sustain.
Shoes of the magi
As for boots, a lot of people for some reason like building Shoes of Focus more than Shoes of the Magi and as I can see as why you would do it but at the same time we get life steal from our Shoes of the Magi and we all know having that extra power always feels good.
Typhons Fang
Now something I see a lot in some of my mirror matches are Hades who finish their boots and think "This should be enough life steal" well it's not like I said before just as Anubis, Hades needs his life steal it's very important to having a nice sustain even when someone builds anti-heal you will still have a decent amount because you started these 3 items.
Mantle of Discord
This item used to be Chronos' Pendant but after getting some really good constructive criticism I tested some other items out and I've found this to be a little more exciting of an item the Chronos' Pendant considering that it sides quite well with my ult which was already known I had just never built this mid.
[td bgcolor=#82FA58 border=inset padding=3 width=705][/td]
Soul Reaver
So I've definitely been asked a few times why I build Soul Reaver and honest truth I just like the power from it but I do normally replace it with other items such as [Divine Ruin] or Magnus Spear so you do you.
Rod Of Tahuti
Right so one thing I can say is I don't ever see Rod of Tahuti built early or even at all and some people just think it's not worth throwing into the build but me no no no you see the reason why I build this is because yeah sure I have life steal so when my health gonna get low and to that I say team fights and when going against a team who built anti heal for me my abilities mean nothing all except my deadly ult which becomes deadlier when you have thorns and it gets increased due to Rod of Tahuti and with that smack of a combo you could almost 1v5
Spear of Desolation
I choose Spear of Desolation for the sole reason that I like it's passive and having magical pen and the extra power is definitely gonna make you the scariest end hades

Your Abilities and Combos

Passive - Blight

The key component in what makes the mediocre abilities of Hades more of a hassle to deal with in the laning phase. Applying Blight will reduce the enemies (and minions) physical or magical power by 5%, which in itself is not overpowered, but nice. The real deal is the effects that it gives to each abilities which I will cover with said abilities below. The best tactic for using this passive is to apply from range with your auto attacks, and then follow up with the abilities that also apply Blight before using the ones that remove blight which will also be covered lightly in the combos.

1 - Death from Below

As the name suggests, although classed as a "leap" (which I will add can be taken advantage of by Awilix ult), will bring you up through the ground dealing AOE damage to nearby targets. If the enemy is already applied by Blight, which would by through your auto attacks or your 2 the enemy will be slowed, however whether the enemy is already blighted or not this will apply blight again allowing you to get the extra ability effects again. This should only be used for initiation or securing a kill if you think that you can also get back out without it, otherwise save it as an escape.

2 - Shroud of Darkness

The notorious CC that Hades holds in his kit, silencing in a similar cone to the Athena taunt, this will also apply blight similarly to Death From Below but also the unique effect that it gives when an enemy is blighted is that they are feared instead, forcing them to run in a direction. At max rank this ability lasts 2 seconds so the potential for setting up kills or burning beads is extremely potent with blight and this CC. It can be used when attacking to initiate, or defensively if an enemy is getting too close and you need to silence/fear them from using abilities.

3 - Devour Souls

Without the appliance of Blight I must admit that this ability is almost useless, however with the ease of applying Blight it is definitely far from useless. When nearby enemies are blighted Devour Souls will detonate the Blight applied and deal extra damage while also healing you per target. For best results in lane, try to blight the enemy laner but also the minion wave and detonate it all together with Devour Souls and you will get more damage off than expected.

4 / Ultimate - Pillar of Agony

If you can catch someone in this ultimate and they don't have a Purification Beads or an Aegis Amulet they are in trouble, dealing high damage every half a second for 6 seconds, and not being able to walk out so that you are a target is not a good time, and to top it off if the enemy is blighted their magical protections are reduced for the duration of the ability. To help protect Hades from being too easy of a target while he is in there he gains 160 dual protections and 10% damage mitigation for the duration and is granted CC immunity.

Combos
This is your standard ability damage combo, the Death From Below isn't necessary unless you need to close the distance that way but following the 2 up with the 3 is always the way to go without ulting. Be careful though as using Death From Below to attack leaves you without an escape.

Here you will apply Blight with Death From Below, then while they are blighted apply Shroud of Darkness causing them to be feared for 2 seconds, then in range you can now ult them, reducing their protections due to Blight and guaranteeing damage output due to them being feared, if they are still alive or inside range let off your Devour Souls to do one final burst of damage to secure the kill. Do not use Devour Souls before Pillar of Agony as this will remove the Blight and not reduce their protections for the duration of Pillar of Agony.

The full combo utilizing all abilities the most efficiently, and being able to chase kills if they manage to escape your Pillar of Agony. Although needing to use Blink Rune to complete, you still get all the benefits from the previous combo while still having escape/chase potential. If you feel the need to escape instead of chasing a kill you should use Devour Souls before using Death From Below to escape to try snag a heal and extra damage.

This entire page was written up by the legend Big damage so do me a huge favor and go check his guides out

To Conclude

This was my first ever guide and if its taken well by the community Im pretty sure ill continue to make more in the near future and I just wanna say a final thanks to anyone who was very helpful in trying to better my guide

How did your build take off so fast? I made a build a little bit ago and it looked like it was doing well but then I saw yours and it just blew mine away!

Well my hades build is a full blown guide on the God along with builds. Some people come to read the combos or strats with him.

As Kriega briefly mentioned, Mantle of Discord should 100% be bare minimum a situational. Personally I list it as core in mid due to having to get close to deal damage and not being able to freecast from range. Also the passive is useful in ult if they're trying to burst you down the stun will give you more time dealing damage or you can cancel ult on the stun to use Death From Below to escape.

Hades also explained this in his post below.
Code:
[[Mantle of Discord]]
gets you Mantle of Discord.

Again, strongly suggest you just check out this coding guide for the site: https://www.smitefire.com/smite/forum/build-guide-discussion/coding-help-amp-faq-49411

I would also tweak a couple other things, Chronos' Pendant is okay but you can get CDR easily from other sources and you don't really need more than 30% you can get away with 20% most of the time with Hades. Maybe look into other options for CDR that are useful outside of providing CDR, such as the aforementioned Mantle of Discord or Soul Gem and Staff of Myrddin.

Spear of Desolation is a useful item overall, no doubt. But the positioning feels very off to me. The flat penetration works better against all targets the earlier you purchase it and the cooldown might be nice late game but the damage would feel lack luster compared to something like Obsidian Shard or Staff of Myrddin. Also having an early item from the pen tree opens you up to a Divine Ruin if you need antiheal.

so I totally just looked at your hades guide and like would you be fine if I copied your whole rundown about abilities and combos because it looks way better than anything I could type and ill give you credit

How is this a guide when it only really talks about items?
2
Big Damage (37) | September 30, 2020 8:22am
What are your thoughts on there only being 20% pen, Deso last item and the choice of Chronos' on Hades?
2
Kriega1 (143) | September 30, 2020 8:44am
20% pen is fine, prob would swap tahuti for shard though, deso for divine if I need antiheal, and chronos' for Mantle. Assuming this is for Mid lane.

Hey, welcome to SMITEFire and nice first guide! :D

I see you're trying to add item images and probably center them in the guide. If you need any formatting help, feel free to let me know! Here are a few basic tips to keep in mind.

You can tag abilities, items and gods by writing their names between double brackets. For example Hades, Death From Below, Bancroft's Talon. This will hyperlink them to our database so people can easily find more information, plus it looks better in your guide!

Instead of adding images manually, you can use the following code to add a hyperlinked version in the size of your choosing. Example:
Code:
[[Hades]], [[Death From Below]], [[Bancroft's Talon]] [center][icon=Hades size=50][/center]

Best of luck and always let us know if you need any help. :D

Encompass the text you want to increase in size with the following code:

This is an example.
Code:
