Abilities in depth


< Decompose >

Ability type: Debuff.

Enemy gods hit by Artio's Druid or Bear damaging abilities will begin to decompose. This effect decreases their Physical and Magical Protections. This effect stacks.

> Protection debuff for each stack: 2%.
> Maximum stacks: 8.
> Duration: 4s.

Ability review:
This ability is very underrated. Fully stacked, this passive can ignore 16% of the enemy protections. Not so useful in solo, but a very good passive in the duo lane.



< Energy Surge / Maul Prey >

Ability Type: Cone.
Cooldown: 12 seconds.
Range: 25.
Mana cost: 50/55/60/65/70.

Druid: Artio pulses out a strong wave of energy that damages enemies. She will heal herself and allies within 55 units for each enemy god hit by this ability.

> Damage: 70/100/130/160/190 (+35% of your magical power).
> Heal: 40/60/80/120 (+20% of your magical power).

Bear Form: Artio slashes twice with her claws, damaging enemies with each swipe.

> Damage: 40/70/100/130/160 (+30% of your magical power).

Ability review:.

This ability is Artio's main damage and wave clear. Pretty good damage (More over bear form) and a good self and team heal. Pretty balanced ability. Applies passive.



< Entangling Vines / Ferocious Roar >

Ability Type: Area.
Cooldown: 14 seconds.
Radius: 20.
Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 mana.

Druid: Artio creates a thicket of vines around herself that cripples enemy gods and decreases their Magical or Physical Power as long as they are in the area.

> Area Duration: 4/4.5/5/5.5/6s.
> Power Debuff: 5/10/15/20/25%.

Bear Form: Artio lets out a ferocious roar that Stuns all nearby enemies and increases her own Physical and Magical Protections for 4s.

> Stun Duration: 1/1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4s.
> Self Buff: 10/15/20/25/30 Protections.

Ability review:

This is where the bullsh*t begins. A 6 second lasting cripple, must be one of the longer cripples in game (If its not the longest), and she also has a heavy stun. If that wasn't broken enough, she gets 30 magical and physical protections for no reason and she takes 25% power from enemies! These are artio's main CC tools.



< Life Tap / Heavy Charge >

Ability Type: Line.
Cooldown: 17 seconds.
Range: 55.
Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 mana.

Druid Form: Artio channels for 2s, draining the life from enemies. While channeling she deals damage up to 5 times and heals herself up to 5 times. Each hit increasingly Slows enemies and enemies hit all 5 times are Rooted for 1s.

> Damage Per Hit: 15/25/35/45/55 (+10% of your magical power).
> Heal Per Hit: 10/15/20/25/30 (+5% of your magical power).
> Druid Slow: 10%. (Stacks up to 4 times, at 40%).

Bear Form: Artio charges forward at an increased movement speed for 3s. Enemies she charges through take damage and are Slowed for 2s.

> Damage: 70/120/170/220/270 (+50% of your magical power).
> Slow: 10/15/20/25/30%.

Ability review:

This is just not fair already. The dash takes like 1/3 of a squishie's HP, and her Life Tap also does the same damage basically but including a ROOT and SELF HEAL. This ability is crazy.



< Shapeshift >

Cooldown: 1 second.
Cost: 0 mana.

Active: Artio Shapeshifts between her Druid stance and Bear stance.

Passive: Every time Artio hits at least 1 enemy with an ability, she gains 1 stack of Invigoration. Invigoration stacks increase her Movement Speed and MP5. Stacks last 4s, and stack up to 8 times.


> Movement Speed Per Stack: 1/1/2/2/3%
> MP5 Per Stack: 2/4/6/8/10

Ability review:

What all people see is a stance switching. But if you look closely you have an insane ammount of mana to spam all your abilities, and movement speed to chase anybody.
That is literally 24% movement speed from a PASSIVE, and 80 MP5. Eighty MP5 is INSANE!

Artio as solo



As an Artio, you're really tanky and in the early game you're really hard to kill. If you feel lucky, you can go and invade yellow buff (Your dash is perfect for it). If you don't want to do it, you can proxy with just throwing your abilities and running to lane. And if you don't want to do that either, check your team's jungle to avoid ganks or proxying from the enemies.
If you're fighting a physical enemy in the solo lane, you should wait until you have enough gold for full Breastplate of Valor Which will delete their kill potential on you, and if their jungler is physical, you will be almost unkillable.
In the solo lane you should always be agressive and try poke your enemy out. You can go invade their blue, you can proxy whenever you want, you're a MONSTER. Junglers can do nothing to you but watch you kill them while you CC rape them. Really, is that crazy.
You should build with versatility. If the enemy solo is an adc, like for example a Neith (poor guy), swap Breastplate of Valor for Midgardian Mail, Hide of the Nemean Lion, or Witchblade.
If the enemy physical solo laner has a lot of healing you should include the incoming item that works as a physical pestilence (I'll include it in the build ASAP when it comes out).

Artio: Solo matchups



IMPORTANT NOTE: I only include the gods that are warriors, guardians, or healers, with some exceptions like Serqet and Ne Zha and others. Competent-in-solo-lane gods are all here. If the god you're looking for isn't here, you shouldn't be playing that in solo lane.

Achilles: OK matchup
Artio has the tankiness and sustain to have a competent laning phase against achilles. He can still stun you out of dash and leave you out of any escape posibility, but you can heal off him, and you can cripple his 3.. So the matchup has pro and cons. But overall, good matchup for artio.

Amaterasu Very good matchup
So in this season Amaterasu is having a terrible performance... can't properly clear until level 8 or 9, she lacks damage and if she tries to get enough damage she lacks tankiness... her auras are okay and her teamfight is good but being honest she has no opportunity against artio in lane. cripple does her bad and artio can dash away from her ultimate ability. Artio can outsustain Ama too.

Aphrodite Regular matchup
Aphrodite can outsustain Artio, and has better wave clear in the early game. She can kiss you out from your abilities, but once you get antiheal she is done. Also Undying Love is really easy to bait, and she should be far positioned from you. So it's a good matchup for you and for her too.

Ares OK matchup
Ares is really easy to hurt in the solo lane. Anyways, once he gets his ultimate on, if he pulls you in tower and cripples you, you won't die but you will take a lot of damage and be forced to go back to base. He can give protections to his minions, that can give you a hard time, but nothing special, you can wreck him.

Artio OK matchup
Another artio can block your abilities by the stun and she can sustain just as you can do it, so you won't really have a lot of killing potential. But with good knowing of your god, you can make another artio have a bad time.

Athena Very good matchup
Athena has no sustain. All she has as a solo laner is the taunt, the slow and global presence... but you can make her back all the time, you can steal her blue buff, and if she ever tries to escape with ultimate from a fight, with the right usage of your abilities you can kill her.

Baron Samedi Regular matchup
Baron has sustain and damage. He has cc, and you aren't root immune while dashing or using your root, so that's a bit awkward. Also, if you get pulled into tower you might die.. So just try to follow his cooldowns and sustain all you can. If he tries to be too agressive, you can kill him easily.

Bellona Bad matchup
As artio, you have a cripple and a stun as your strongest CC. you can stun Bludgeon, but cripples really do almost anything to bellona.. Also, she has a strong kit and better sustain than you (Altough her sustain is over-time and yours is instant).

Camazotz Regular matchup
Using all your abilities and watching him heal with his 3 and his 2 almost all his HP can be really frustrating... If you can juke his heals you will be fine.

Cerberus OK matchup
He has a CC immune ultimate and you don't, and his 2 does a lot of damage and reduces protections so you should always save your stun for that ability. Overall, you have better wave clear and sustain (Watch out for his passive).

Chaac Regular matchup
Chaac is pretty dangerous because of his really short cooldown on his wave clear and poke, so if you're ahead you can stand that, but when behind its a big problem.

Chang'e OK matchup
She can't interrupt your most damaging abilities (Except from Waxing Moon but that's an ultimate with a long cooldown obviously), she is really squishy and she has better wave clear than you, but you're 100% more valuable than a chang'e.

Cu Chulainn Regular matchup
He's pretty much like you, but with an ultimate. He has no sustain though, but his spear can reduce your healing, so that's pretty sad. You have way better wave clear than him, but when he transforms you should give him some space.

Erlang Shen Bad matchup
Erlang has insane damage and a big *** heal, good CC and wave clear. All artio can do to him, is cripple him or stun his 3.. but its a really exhausting lane.

Fafnir Very good matchup
You have way better wave clear and sustain, he has almost no damage until he has ultimate, and you have better CC. you can cripple his only escape... A really good matchup.

Ganesha OK matchup
You have better clear and he has no sustain, but he has good ability damage, CC to interrupt some of your abilities, and the most damaging ability in the game, so if you ever get caught into his ultimate by any kind of CC you will take atrocious amounts of damage.

Geb Regular matchup
If he could ever be able to pull you into the tower and use his ultimate, you will most of the times, die. He can interrupt your strongest abilities and he can shell himself out of bad situation.. but you have better wave clear and better valuable CC than him.

Guan Yu Very good matchup
Guan yu has no chance in your lane. You can stun Taolu Assault, you can out-sustain him and you have better teamfight presence except from his ultimate. Your CC is better.

Hades OK matchup
Some disgusting CC and heal, but that's all he has. you can dash out of his ultimate, and you have high kill potentiall always.

Hel Very good matchup
Early game can be rough, but once you get your Pestilence or Divine Ruin on, you will note that she has very low chances of living in the lane. Easy target, really gankable, needs to be really far up to clear the wave and has no CC. Perfect for you.

Hercules Regular matchup
His sustain is good, and his combo is dangerous, and he has an ultimate with CC immunity which you don't. but you have better wave clear and more valuable CC in a teamfight. If he catches you in tower you're in trouble.

Horus OK matchup
Horus has some damage, and some sustain. But his skills are really easy to juke, and with some practice you can predict where his 3 is going. Artio generally will have to be careful challenging her non-knock up immune abilities around the area where she can get knocked up, or stunned, but she would be domaining the lane most of the time.

Eset Regular matchup
Isis has way way better wave clear (potentially one of the best in the game) with Wing Gust and fairly hard-hitting basic attacks. Spirit Ball and Dispel Magic can cancel most of your abilities, and her ultimate can make you get outplayed in several ocations. You should stun her Wing Gust with Entangling Vines / Ferocious Roar and try to poke her hard till the point she can only clear again with Spirit Ball from far away.

Jormungandr Bad matchup
Jormungandr's Submerge can stop your abilities, Consuming Bellow will frag you, and The World Serpent will make you struggle several times. You can't activate his passive, and his basic attacks hit really hard. He has average wave clear, kinda like you. His only weakness against you, is that you have way more sustain.

King Arthur Very good matchup
You must be wondering: how the hell? Yea buddy, Artio is overall known for her long *** 6 second cripple in Entangling Vines / Ferocious Roar. King arthur has 8 abilities, and almost non-existent cooldowns. The only way to take him down is crippling him. And what better that an AOE 6 second long cripple to block 3 of his abilities?
Also, artio can match his damage, and has way better sustain (She should get Divine Ruin in this matchup for maximum potential).

Kumbhakarna Regular matchup
Insane CC and good wave clear, but no sustain. That's where artio comes in, she can take all the damage from Reject and heal from minions or from the god.

Kuzenbo Regular matchup
Not the best enemy for artio. Kuzenbo is insanely tanky, and can catch artio in a bad position and push her into his tower and use his ultimate. Most of the times this happens you will be forced to back, but i don't think you will die. You should be really careful and if he gets too close, just use your cripple.

Loki Very good matchup
The major part of artio's abilities are a counter to loki. She has a stun in a good area, and a cripple, and Life Tap / Heavy Charge can be used to reveal him. Loki has nothing to do in this lane but just throw his decoy and wait for artio to commit a misplay, but she can't get hurt by loki since she's basically a solo lane bully.

Ne Zha OK matchup
Not really the best matchup, but still somehow easy. Ne zha can stop some of Artio's abilities, but that's all. He has no mobility, questionable CC for a solo laner and not enough sustain to compete with artio's.

Nike Regular matchup
New nike is dangerous. She has way better clear than artio, she can knock artio back from dashing through, she can knock her up while she's in Life Tap / Heavy Charge with Valiant Leap, and her ultimate can make her un-killable or just make you easier to kill since your kit has no CC immunity or slow immunity. You win the sustain and teamfight though.

Odin Ok matchup
Odin sucks, but artio can't escape from his cage. She should get Phantom Veil as her first relic, because a gank into Ring of Spears can be tough. Anyways artio wins lane really easily, since odin has lacking CC and wave clear.

Osiris Bad matchup
Osiris has slows, these do artio pretty bad. He has Judgement Tether, a good ability against Artio. His ultimate is also good and gives him CC immunity. He lacks sustain, but if he gets Berserker's Shield, his artificial sustain will be better than yours.

Pele Regular matchup
Pele is dangerously over powered. Pele's 1 gives her some of the best early wave clears of all of those out there, her knock-up is almost instant, and her ultimate it's a CC immune dash with 3 AOE attacks with the size of the whole lane. Sustain only for 3 seconds with a 30 second cooldown on Everlasting Flame. (Weak point). You have better teamfight.

Ra OK matchup
Avoid getting blinded by Divine Light, and you will be fine. He can out sustain him, and that's exhausting, but you will have better presence in the solo lane, you're stronger.

Ravana Very good matchup
Really good matchup, where artio has better wave clear, better laning phase, better CC and better sustain.

Serqet OK matchup
Serqet has a good kit, but Last Breath Can't really hurt Artio, since 100% antiheal doesn't hurt artio too much. But Cobra's Kiss has some good CC to stop your abilities, and Serqet has good wave clear. Fair matchup.

Sobek OK matchup
Sobek is very tanky, probably a little more than artio since we build artio as a bursty mage most of the times. He has some healing and Charge Prey can put you on an unconfortable positioning, but if you're careful with that, you're fine. You can cripple it too, so it's not a big deal.

Sol Very good matchup
Note: Add Hide of the Nemean Lion and Midgardian Mail for a better performance.
Sol is almost fully basic attack based. She has Stellar Burst, which does a fair amount of base damage, has some sustain and slow immunity. Supernova does a lot of damage too. But all sol can do in a lane with artio is clear the wave, and try to be far away to avoid CC.

Sun Wukong Regular matchup
You can cripple his dash, but he can slow you. He has probably as good wave clear as you have, questionable cc but good damage... overall a good matchup for both of you.

Sylvanus Regular matchup
Bad matchup for you both where you should be avoiding eachother's CC and you can't do damage to eachother too.

Terra Very good matchup
Terra's Force of Nature gets totally cancelled by Entangling Vines / Ferocious Roar, Cancelling Terra's chance to wave clear with Monolith or to crush her stones in Crushing Earth. No CC immune ultimate, but her ultimate is very valuable and makes her 2x harder to kill.

Tyr Very good matchup
Fearless has no place in solo lane against artio. Some sustain, but his only CC gets cancelled.

Vamana Regular matchup
Vamana's ultimate ( Colossal Fury) makes him almost inmortal, at least in lane. Umbrellarang gives him some good wave clear (Not as good as yours anyways), but you have the sustain to back it up and you can cancel Clear The Path.

Xing Tian OK matchup
Two tanky gods, but you have better CC and wave clear. His ultimate can hurt you, but you'll be okay if you have your dash up.

Ymir Bad matchup
Ymir has really good damage and wave clear, his stun is really long and you have no immunity kind for his ultimate. Your only chance is to dash out. You also can't go through walls, and that's another bad point.

Zhong Kui Very good matchup
You have better CC, Laning snow ball potential, you're more tanky, and you have better sustain. Ouch.

Artio as support



Artio support has everything you need. She has mobility, CC, sustain, wave clear and pressure. As a support i reccomend starting with your Life Tap / Heavy Charge for slows and CC if you want early agression. If you are more like a passive player or you're playing with an adc with lacking early pressure like Apollo, Artemis, Chronos, Freya (in the incoming patch she's receiving a nerf to Aurora blade for 1 damage lol) between others, you should take your Energy Surge / Maul Prey, which gives the same wave clear than Life Tap / Heavy Charge.
Artio goes well with any ADC, but i reccomend Sol, Chernobog and Hachiman as her best laning partners.
Artio has high gank potential. So as a support, you should be trying to rotate as much as possible, warding, and trying to gank mid lane and leeching XP from your jungler. 99% of the time you gank a mid laner out of position, if you get the needed help, you will receive a kill/assist, so try to do it often and use sentrys a lot in the mid lane so you and your mid laner can feed off the mid.

Artio as Jungle


Jungle artio is insanely fun. More even if you go full damage, trust me. People mostly will think you're trolling, but they really don't know what the pick can do. Why won't you bring all the CC artio has into the jungle? She has very good early jungle clear with Energy Surge / Maul Prey, she has high gank potential with Life Tap / Heavy Charge, she has unfair self peel and peel for her teammates, and she has jungle sustain. Perfect!

If you aren't familiar with the pick, you should go for build 1. It gives you consistent damage but it gives you some defense too. (If you're used to play artio really tanky, you will go in the frontline and get deleted, that's why you should pick the defensive build).
If you really want to have fun, pick your build and struck sum noobs!

There's not really any tip or any trick for Artio in the jungle. Just try to do your best!

-My first Match was Artio Solo and a Buddy told me to rush Warlocks. Is this any good?

do you mean Contageon?

/edit: the Shapeshift Passive feels kinda garbage. =/

Also contagion has kinda meh stats so even if the enemy physical solo has some self healing I think you’re better off getting either Jade Emperor’s Crown or Breastplate of Valor.

Breastplate oder Jade is very nice tho, that's right. So i guess better go Breastplate and then Divine Ruin for Anti Heal huh?

No, don’t rush warlocks on Artio. Ethereal Staff is a better option and you get that later in your build.

You guide seems solid to me, but I personally don't like the idea of an Artio jungle, but anyway, your Build 1 and 5 on jungle list overcaps CDR that is 40%. Consider review those builds and congrats for your guide, that's awesome that you offered such a variety of builds and starts.

Artio jungle its like an Athena jungle, you don't play it all the time, just when your team lacks magical damage or you have the right team comp. it was just to extend the build but i don't play it often too.. just when feeling lucky
