I really do dislike how the OP's worded the thread. Perhaps rename it rock music instead? Pop music can be good as can other genres.

I find it kinda contradictory to state the thread is not about arguing what "good music" is, but then bars some music from being shared. I don't like a lot of the current pop music but I think a lot of it still has decent meaning and rythmic value.

Nonetheless, I've found the band Holy Grail has a nice Megadeth/Iron Maiden-esque sound while being a very current and popular band. The drumming is sublime, the meaning is solid (I suggest Chase the Wind, Crisis in Utopia, and Ride the Void), and overall deccent flow.
