Thanatos's Skill Order Notes Prioritizing the build in this way allows you to increase your speed more quickly with your 2nd ability, giving you more mobility on the battlefield. Te bane of thanatos' existence, is being held down, so anything to give him an edge on movement and speed is helpful. This does upgrade your other abilities a bit more slowly, but not so much so that they become obsolete.

Extended Build

Introduction

I was introduced to the game by my wife's best friend's boyfriend. He has been playing the game for severaly years, and he was looking to see if we would be interested. And let's just say that I was, and still am many months after. That being said, Thanatos was the first god I ever played. At first it was because he just looks really cool. But over time I've grown to appreciate Thanatos for far more than his choice of apparel.

Thanatos is most powerful when he is least expected. That is why he is a traditional choice for Junglers, but he can serve many purposes across all of the game modes. But always keep in mind that Thanatos is an assassin, so he is not meant to be in the middle of the battle. When he is vulnerable, he is incredibly easy to kill. So always keep that in mind.

Building for Speed and Power

The whole point of an assassin is to hit hard, and hit fast. Thanatos excels in both of these. Speed is built into his kit, as his 2 can give you a whopping 30% at lvl 5. This is why I allocated the skill building the way I did, because you will need to escape conflict as quickly as possible. But you also want to be able to damage opponents when they come at you, without having ing to rely solely on your team.

This build gives you 40% cool down so that you can maximize on your ultimate cool down, while also giving you some decent protection, but also increases your power and ability damage immensely. Jotunn's Wrath gives you 20% cool down while increasing your power, and mana. Breastplate of Determination, gives you hefty physical defense bonuses and a decent amount of mana, as well a 20% cool down, with a passive that doubles your protections after 5 stacks of damage within a few seconds of each other. This can help you to get away, in tandem with some of the other items on this list. Transendance gives you a lot of power based on total mana, which is further increased by items like Jotunn's Wrath, and Breastplate of Valor. More mana, equals more power. We move in Titan's Bane next to maximize your penetration. Titan's band comes with a hefty 20% increase already, but it's passives gives each of your abilities an additional 10% every 10 seconds. This paired with Heart seeker will maximize your penetration on damaging abilities, and will help you against both guardians, and heavily armored foes. And heart seeker will give you an additional 75% damage for a few more seconds after hitting an enemy with your damaging abilities' making finishing off a kill with your ultimate even easier, should you be unable to execute. Lastly, Blood Forge gives you some extra protection for when you either execute, or kill your enemies. Pair this with your 2 to get away from your enemies quickly and efficiently.

Each item helps to build into the next, maximizing as many useful stats as possible. And while there are other combinations that you could use, I feel this one gives you the most autonomy as a God, and an executioner to support your team.

I think you can typically decide on those yourself as long as you know general playstyle.

Purification Beads is never a bad first item for a Jungler. If you're worried about lots of CC on the enemy team, it's the best way to go.

That said, I would say you wouldn't always get Beads first. In some situations, especially against some gods that have no escapes (think a mid like Ra for example), Blink Rune can help a ton in allowing you to get early kills...and that's something Thana wants, to stay ahead early/mid.

I would say Blink and Beads are the 2 standard relics for him. Against a pretty dangerous team (and perhaps one with lots of burst), you might choose more defensively and do the other standard combo (Beads and Aegis).

As for this build and skill leveling...no offense to build creator, but I wouldn't follow it, at least not in most regular situations. I will consider Conquest and non-Conquest in my comments.
  • I wouldn't suggest Breastplate of Valor / Breastplate of Determination unless you were maybe going Solo-lane Thana against a physical solo enemy in Conq, or there were 4+ physical enemies. Maybe you'd consider that as a bruiser for teamfight modes. Typically for the jungle in Conq, you'll want to go almost full damage. Instead of BoV, your better choice will be Jotunn's Wrath only. If you were in Solo and wanted physical prots, then I think a better choice might be Gladiator's Shield.

  • This build overcaps CDR w/ Jotunn's, BoV, and Trans. Don't do that.

  • At least if using it for Conq, there's no starter here. For that mode, you should be considering a starter of some type...commonly it would be Bumba's Dagger building into either Spear or Hammer. The other 2 jungle starters are okay too.

  • Hydra's Lament should probably be core for Thana...and if not core, at least an option listed somewhere.

  • Brawler's Beat Stick should be listed as an option if you need anti-heal. Magi's Cloak might be considered against very high enemy CC as a sole defensive option.

  • The skill leveling recommendation is a mess. Typically, your first 5 levels in Conq would be in this order: 3-1-1-2-4 or 3-1-2-1-4. Then you'll usually max the 1, the 2, the ult, then the 3...or if you want, you can max the 3 before the 2 especially in a teamfight mode where you'll be able to get hits on multiple people with the cone. You don't want to level where it sort of looks like you choose randomly like this build shows.
