right now. Though that isn't why you are here today is it? You are here to learn how to play a really fun and interesting god. I hope you like cheese because

Thanatos is like pizza and mac and cheese all in one. Lot's of people won't like you playing
Thanatos your teammates will probably whine that he is lower tier and squishy. But your enemies will whine about you ROFL stomping them strait to their titan.


Thanatos has many Great advantages and many downfalls, Many builds (I only have two listed as of now soon more will come.) and many different play styles. Some people like to play Thanatos as a Split pusher when he falls off later on. Others build him tanky, I like Thanatos with crits makes it more fun and you do tons of damage with that AA chain (I could go on for years about how satisfying his AOE AA is when you land a crit on it.)

Thanatos is an aggressive early game jungler that specializes in sustaining the jungle. He does this so that he can gank with full health and snowball the game with his Health chunking abilities. Two things can happen with t
Thanatos you can either get a kill early and snowball or lose hard and have a VERY rough comeback. Though coming back is rough it can be done. If though you snowballed then you may as well pack your bags for titanville because that is where you are going to move to in the next 20-40 minutes.

Thanatos will likely Snowball early game and fall off later on in the game. From there you rely heavily upon your team to help you. His late game isn't terrible because there are multiple ways he can be played to overcome this bad late game like with building crits, tanky, or just split pushing and ulting for an escape.

Death Scythe Death Scythe is Thanatos' BEST ability you hit it you probably get a kill. On the other hand if you don't hit it then you probably won't be getting a kill and it may lead to your death. This ability may be used for multiple things based on it's billions of effects. You may chunk a nerds health, you may heal yourself for absurd amounts of damage, you may 360 no scope with it while screaming 420 blaze it. It is best used for ganking and should be popped after the use of your third ability Soul Reap.

Scent of Death Scent of Dinner..... I mean death is Thanatos chase and tank crusher ability. This ability is the reason why Warrior Tabi are unneeded on Thanatos For it gives as much penetration at rank one as a pair of Warrior Tabi would. This ability is going to be the ability you first pop to speed yourself up to get near an enemy and get through the small ammount of armor they may have. It is also useful for split pushing and may be used to kill towers quickly. Scent of Death Is also a great tank killer for it is a penetration ability this plus Qin's Sais should put a tank in the dirt.

Soul Reap Soul Reap, oh soul reap I remember long ago when I was under level 30 when I used to max you and I didn't understand that you aren't in anyway as good as Death Scythe. This Ability is to be popped second in your combo it is a silence used to keep gods like Agni, Janus and Scylla where they are because of their high mobility. It is also a great tool for stopping gods like Fenrir from going full 3 key on your booty. It's basically here to stop the enemy from resisting their death. I am known for being that guy that plays Thanatos Mid in casuals occasionally and if you do decide to lane with him DO NOT MAX THIS ABILITY. If you are playing Thanatos mid max Death Scythe you won't have trouble clearing if you have deaths toll and you last hit with your passive the idea is to keep the enemy in tower while you farm and roam. NOT CONDONING Thanatos MID DO AT YOUR THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK OF GETTING BMED.

HOVERING DEATH a.k.a swiggoty swooty comin for that booty Hovering Death is a classical smite move in my opinion because of the fear it invokes in the enemy player. The enemy knows they are going to die unless they have mad jukes or Greater Aegis. This ability can be used for multiple things these include but are not limited to: Executing enemies, Running yo *** away, Jumping on 5 people and stunning them and set up for a sick *** AOE ability like Syphon Darkness. I will admit on my road to become a fairly decent Thanatos player I HAVE MISSED SO MANY OF THESE ULTS AND IT IS COMPLETELY MY FAULT BECAUSE I WAS BUTT TIER. My friends would laugh at me when I failed this ult and you will to. Something to know that is very important about this ability, if you are trying to ult away and you die when you land it's probably because of minions. YES their arrows will wait until you land to kill you they will troll the living hell out of you because archer minions BE CRAY.

Ninja Tabi some guys are gonna be super mad about me picking up Ninja Tabi. To you gentlemen that get mad about it I have to say to you, Yo m8 calm your nips and chill the **** out. I buy jottun's wrath which means once this ability is maxed my penetration will sky rocket so getting Warrior Tabi is worthless later on in the game. Now go salt about in the comments I know you are out there and it's okay go on salt out I understand.

Warrior Tabi "FINE GOSH MOM I WILL GET WARRIOR TABI QUIT BUGGING ME" - Thanatoaster 2014. Warrior tabi is used in the case where you need to have more penetration. As in if you have a tankier build and you aren't doing as much damage but they are tanky to get Warrior Tabi. I don't like buying it but sometimes a God's got to do what a God's got to do.

Jottun's wrath Self implied you want this item because it gives you more pen, more cdr. and more Physical power. It helps you use Death Scythe which Thanatos is extremely reliant upon.

Qin's sais Qin's sais is good on Thanatos because it makes him chunk his enemies health harder it is going to help you both early and late game because it's basically like Death Scythe in auto attack form. You use it to just chunk everyone in the game that builds health.



Rage We want rage because without crits Thanatos will fall of late game (he still will fall off but no as hard) unless you are a mage. Before you get Deathbringer you wan't to be critting as often as possible so you want a higher chance of critting.

Deathbringer Deathbringer is used to crit more often and to make those crits that you already have from rage larger. It's not a complicated item and that is really all there is to it.


Magi's blessing Magi's blessing We use magi's blessing because [[thanatos]' weakest point is that he is weak to CC (crowd control) if thanatos get's CCed he will be bursted and killed quickly. Only try to fight late game if you have magi's up.

Hide of the Urchin Hide of the Urchin is used in the tank build because thanatos is good at getting kills and/or assists. As he is an early game god it will be easy to get and stack.

Witchblade Witchblade is plain and simply used for chase it's awesome because it gives you chasing potential which works well with Scent of Death. It also give attack speed which is great for finishing kill quickly while your enemies are slowed from Death Scythe. It is good for both chasing and running away it also means your support doesn't need to have worthless attack speed piled up in his/her stats.

OH GAWD HERE IT COMES. Teamfighting is hard it's just not an easy thing to do with Thanatos. But my builds are made so that you can survive or do enough damage to at the very least pick off an ADC. With thanatos keep a few things in mind when trying to teamfight.

1 Don't engage unless you are the only front liner.
2 Chase the ADC not the tank even though you can do good damage to them they will CC you and kill you.
3 Let your teammates get the kills in earlier fights once you have 2-3 kills. Once you are decently fed let the ADC have the kills you scale less then them they need em more.
4 Stay calm. A wise man once said "Know your enemy, Know yourself, and victory will be assured!..Unless you are fighting a dragon, of course." Don't listen to the last part about that dragons even then you can win with enough practice.
