Notes Rushing Chronos' Pendant is just too good of a start for mages not to.

However if you dont feel comfortable without a starter item then you can run Mage's Blessing & Lost Artifact, then get Shoes of the Magi, and then Chronos Pendant.

INTRODUCTION

Ra is a strong Mage, he can do massive damage as well as heal his team and himself to keep the team fight going. In this guide I will help you build and play Ra.
Note: This Guide is for playing Conquest in the Mid Lane.

PROS/CONS

Pros
  • Great Clear
  • High Mobility
Cons
  • No Escape
  • Abilities are predictable

SKILLS

Speed of Light
Ra's passive grants hism 6% movement speed for every ability cast, up to three stacks and a 15sec lifetime. This passive is Ra's "escape", as long as you have a lot of cooldown you will never loose this buff especially late game.
Celestial Beam
Ra's first ability is a line ability that deals damage. This is going to be his main damaging ability to enemy Gods and for clearing the wave. This ability is easily avoidable so try to not be predictable when using it, practice makes better with this ability.
Divine Light
Ra's second ability is an AOE ability that deals damage, it will also slow enemy Gods as well as blinding enemy Gods if they are looking at Ra. This ability is useful to make it easier to hit Gods with your first ability as well as allowing Ra to slow enemies so he can escape with his passive. I also use this ability whenever I need to reset the lifetime timer on his passive.
Solar Blessing
Ra's third ability is an AOE ability that deals damage to enemies and heals allies inside of it. Use this ability whenever you or your allies need healing, use it on your frontlines during a team fight, or use it on the minions when sieging a tower or phoenix.
Searing Pain
Ra's fourth ability is his ultimate which deals damage in a line. Ra can do some serious damage with this ability, yes it is just as predictable as his first ability, however in a team fight it becomes less predictable because enemy Gods will not be entirely focusing on your ultimate. Ra's ultimate can also be used to secure objectives.

ITEMS

This item will help Ra to heal his allies and himself but the enemy team will most likely be running anti-heal and I feel as if his base healing alone should keep your frontlines healed enough for your team to do more damage than the other team.

This item will increase Ra's survivability with the CC reduction, health, and passive. 90 Magical Power is also nice.

This is such a strong item on Ra with its passive granting him movement speed and power from killing minions (which he does best). At full stacks you can have up to 165 Magical Power and up to 11% movement speed (plus his passive at full stacks and doom orb at full stacks would give him up to 29% additional movement speed for at least 15sec).

COMBOS

Main Combo
To start you want to throw down your third ability on your allies or yourself, then use your second ability to slow the enemy, while they are slowed take the opportunity to hit the enemy God(s) with your first ability, if they aren't defeated then use your ultimate ability to finish them off.
Poke Combo
You will engage with your ultimate ability (late game with 30%-40%cdr it should be at about 45sec cooldown), and then lineup your first ability. (Later on in the team fight you should already have your ultimate up to either do more poke or finish off an enemy God.)
Fountain Start
At the very start of the game you can get to lane way before the opposing mid lane. Once you bought all your items when you first get into the game wait for the pre-game timer to hit -05sec then you will cast your first ability and sit in the fountain, then once the game timer hits +05sec you will cast your first ability again and make your way to the speed buff, the speed buff will spawn at +15sec and then you will cast your first ability to damage the speed buff and then make your way to lane. The point of this is once you attack the speed buff you will have max stacks on your passive therefore allowing you to get to lane faster.

STAGES OF THE GAME

Early Game
Ra has a very strong early game, he can clear faster than most Gods at early levels making him more efficient at farming and leveling up faster. He is still easily ganked due to having no escape but his passive can make up for that as long as you buy plenty of Ward & Sentry Ward. His mana consumption can hurt if you constantly try to keep his passive up. Overall Ra has a very strong early game.

Middle Game
Ra is good in the middle game. His clear is still unmatched making him efficient at pushing lanes and he is strong at helping take objectives such as Gold Fury and Pyromancer. This can be the stage where his early game lead falls off because rotations will be happening more frequently and if you aren't careful you will be defeated and give the enemy mid lane a chance to farm. Overall Ra still has a good middle game.

Late Game
Ra really shines in the late game, once his full build comes online he will do some massive damage. He can secure and steal objectives with his ultimate all the time as well as shave off over half the health bar of enemy Gods.

SUMMARY

In conclusion, Ra is one of the strongest mid lane mages right now. His line abilities can take some practice to hit the majority of the time. He also has multiple builds that work on him so try different things that work for you.
