Hades Build

Starter Build

Notes Sands of Time gives you enough mana sustain for the early game and that cooldown that would improve your farming speed as you can spam more abilities.

Gem gives a little amount of intelligence to deal more damage to minions and gods.

Purification Beads as Hades is a god with one specific combo that we dont want to be stopped. So with Purification Beads we will be able to use our full combo without being stopped.

Notes Pendulum of Ages gives the biggest amount of intelligence in a starter, making yourself to destroy when you reach level 20.

Spear of Desolation its the best mage early game item, great amount of itelligence and coolowns, all what a mage needs in the early game.

Book of Thoth its going to be our main sustain, with this item we wont have any issue with mana for the rest of the game and appart of that with his passive we will be scaling on the intelligence stat during the full game.

Rod of Tahuti gives us our power spike because of his massive passive, this item is core in every mage build and will make us destroy every other carry in the game.

Obsidian Shard gives us the neccesary penetration to shred tanks in seconds, another core item for every mage build next to Rod of Tahuti.

Blinking Abyss gives us an extra way to survive or even to engage the enemy backline.

Mantle of Discord is the best option for Hades lategame as we will get neccesary cooldown to spam our abilities and his defense and passive will help us to survive while we are using pilar of agony

Situational items

Notes Divine Ruin instead of Spear of Desolation if the enemy has heavy healing (e.g., Aphrodite, Baron Samedi, or high Lifesteal builds).

Gem of Focus instead of Mantle of Discord in case you dont want to build any protections and you still want more cooldown and movement speed.

Time-Lock Aegis instead of Blinking Abyss in case they have gods like Tsukuyomi, Vulcan, etc so you need a second passive relic to survive their ults.

Hades's Skill Order Notes We first upgrade Devour Souls so we have better push, healing and less cooldown on it. After that we go for Death From Below so we apply more slow so we get easier kills. Every time we can we upgrade Pillar of Agony for more damage, more protections reduced from enemies and more prots for us. For the last we upgrade Shroud of Darkness for longer silences.

Introduction

Hi, my name is Ragna and I started playing Smite 1 on PC in 2021. I started playing in little community tournaments and after a lot of training and work I manage to play professional tournaments on Atlanta as the Smite Content Cup in 2024.

Now, in Smite 2 I have reached Deity every single split and I have competed in tournaments like Smite Vegas Qualifiers (ending in 5th position of EU) and right now Smite Prime, so Im always getting updated about the best metas on the game.

Apart from that I have a Twitch channel Ragna_smite where we play Smite 2 every single day and we do coaching for the subs to help them to improve on Smite 2, answering questions, talking about the game, etc.

Hope you find this guide as a good starting point for the midlane and to improve your Hades skills.

Abilities

Hades' Abilities

Passive - Blight

Your attacks and abilities apply Blight. Blighted enemies have reduced Strength and Intelligence and your abilities gain extra effects against them.

You always want an enemy to be Blighted before using your main damage or crowd control abilities to maximize your impact. Weave in Basic Attacks to apply it before engaging if your abilities are on cooldown.

Ability 1 - Death From Below

Leap through the underworld, then emerge and deal Magical Damage to enemies. If the enemies hit are Blighted, they are also Slowed.

This is your primary initiation and escape tool. Because it applies Blight to everyone in the landing area, it sets up your other abilities perfectly. Be careful not to use it aggressively if you don't have a safe way out or if your ultimate is down.

Ability 2 - Shroud of Darkness

Silence enemies in a cone in front of you. Blighted enemies are also Feared away from Hades, and their Blight debuff is strengthened, increasing the Damage Reduction to 10%.

An incredibly strong disruption tool. The Fear is essential for interrupting channeled abilities, peeling Assassins off your backline, or walking enemies into a bad position before you trap them.

Ability 3 - Devour Souls

Devour the souls of your enemies, dealing Magical Damage to enemies around you. Blighted enemies Detonate when hit, dealing additional Magical Damage to themselves and nearby enemies, while Healing you and nearby allies.

This is your main wave clear and sustain. By hitting a full wave of Blighted minions, the overlapping detonations can instantly heal you from low health to full. During team fights, try to catch as many Blighted targets as possible for a massive burst of damage and team healing.

Ultimate - Pillar of Agony

Channel a Vortex around you that drags foes to their death, repeatedly dealing Magical Damage while making you CC Immune and granting Increased Protections. Blighted enemies have their Protections Reduced, and you may use one other ability while Channeling.

A devastating team-fight ultimate. Try to bait out enemy dashes or leaps before using this. The ability to cast another skill while channeling is huge—you can Fear enemies back into the center with Shroud of Darkness or burst them down with Devour Souls while they are trapped.

Example Combos

Standard Clear & Sustain: Basic Attack (Apply Blight to minion wave) -> Death From Below (Leap into wave) -> Devour Souls (Detonate for massive heal/damage)

The Lockdown Engage: Death From Below (Initiate and apply Blight) -> Shroud of Darkness (Fear enemies) -> Devour Souls (Burst)

The Inescapable Vortex: Death From Below (Initiate) -> Pillar of Agony (Trap and shred protections) -> Devour Souls (Cast while channeling Ultimate)

How to play Hades

Gameplay Start / Early Game

  • Start by clearing the first wave using Devour Souls. Make sure to hit the minion wave with a Basic Attack first to apply your Blight passive. Hitting Blighted minions causes them to detonate, maximizing your clear speed and healing you.

  • Move with your jungler depending on where your jungler started you should go into scorpion or a different place. Remember to always apply Blight with a basic attack before using your abilities on the camp to deal extra damage and reduce the monsters' stats.

  • Return to lane and focus on out-sustaining your opponent. Hades has incredible early game healing. Let the enemy mid-laner push the wave towards you, apply Blight to the wave, and use Devour Souls to instantly heal back any poke damage they dealt to you.

  • Be mindful of your positioning. Because Hades is a close-range mage, you have to stand near the minion wave to clear it. Do not use your abilities until you know where the enemy jungler is, or you might get caught out of position.

  • Save Death From Below purely for escaping. Do not use your leap aggressively to clear a wave or chase a kill early on, as you have no other mobility and will be an easy target for the enemy jungler if they gank you.

Mid Game:
  • You enter your prime in the mid-game once you have your power items online, like book of desolation and Spear of Desolation. Your full combo rotation now deals devastating area damage and makes you incredibly hard to kill.

  • Roam with your Jungler and Support. When rotating to side lanes, initiate from over a wall with Death From Below, immediately apply a Fear with Shroud Of Darkness, and let your teammates collapse on the defenseless enemy.

  • Master the Engage. When a fight breaks out, look for enemies who have just used their escapes (leaps or dashes). Leap in with Death From Below to apply Blight, and immediately activate Pillar Of Agony to trap them while your team follows up.

  • Use minion waves to your advantage. If an enemy tries to fight you inside their own minion wave, apply Blight to everything and cast Devour Souls. The chained detonations from the minions will instantly delete the enemy god while healing you to full health.

Late Game:
  • In the late game, Hades acts as a magical bruiser and secondary initiator. Your primary job is to dive the enemy backline, soak up attention, and force them to use their relics.

  • Your primary goals in teamfights are:
    • Look for opportunities to catch multiple enemies without escapes in your Pillar Of Agony.
    • Wait for an enemy Assassin to dive your backline, then peel for your carries using the Fear from Shroud Of Darkness.

  • Do not ultimate carelessly. Activating Pillar Of Agony makes you a stationary target. Late-game Hunters can easily kill you while you channel it if you do not have enough health or if you haven't reduced their damage with your Blight debuff first.

  • During Fire Giant sieges, you are an amazing zoning tool. If the enemy team tries to contest the pit through a narrow choke point, leap in and drop Pillar Of Agony to block their path entirely, allowing your team to secure the objective.

  • When attacking Phoenixes, use Devour Souls on the incoming enemy minion waves to provide massive burst healing to your entire team, keeping everyone healthy enough to take the structure.

  • If an Assassin like Susano or Fenrir jumps on you or your carry, do not panic. Hit them with Shroud Of Darkness to Fear them away, apply Blight, and use Devour Souls to burst them down while restoring your lost health.

  • Master the control on when to apply Blight and the exact timing to drop your ultimate, and be sure you will be a top Hades player.

How to ward as a Midlaner

Early/Mid Game

Here you can see the best spots to ward as a Midlaner.

These wards will help you to be safe during the first instances of the game, giving you the information about if your getting ganked from the solo or duo side.

Very Passive Situation

These wards will help you recover if you come from a bad spot i which maybe you are getting ganked a lot or invaded

Late Game

These wards are use to help your team on teamfight situations or fire gigant pulls, there are a lot of possibilities take those ones who you consider that suits the best to your game situation.

Siege / Defense Phoenix

For this situation there are only two main spots to have a ward, as you can see them rotating from one lane to the others, maybe you could even put one at lane to see if minions are approaching the phoenix but it isn't that important as knowing which lane they are going to siege.

As with that information you could be able to be on the right position before your enemies giving you a great advantage for the teamfight.

Regardless of the role, wards are the most important consumable you can buy, so don't forget to buy two wards after each back!
