Introduction

Greetings, one and all, to another guide. In this guide, we'll be looking at the greatest knight of the Round Table, an expert in both sword and joust, King Arthur's best friend (and worst enemy), and the only person to receive the title of Brave. Sir Lancelot du Lac.
Note: you don't have to follow this guide to the smallest detail. These are suggestions on how to play Lancelot. I encourage you to see the comment section below and other tips.

Who is Lancelot?

Lancelot is a Physical Melee Assassin who moves in quickly and deals damage to his targets on foot and horseback. Unlike the other mount character, Awilix, Lancelot's mount is a stance and has different abilities to reflect this. Lancelot utilizes his high mobility from his mount to get in, control his opponents, deal massive damage, and get out.

Pros / Cons

Pros
  • High Damage
  • High Mobility
  • Stances
Cons
  • Long CD
  • Can be Knocked-off Horse
  • Mount is Limited

Lancelot excels at moving in, taking targets, and getting out while providing control to set up for kills. Lance utilizes his horse for movement and a new set of abilities that can provide damage from afar or control up close.
While his horse is his most significant attribute, it also has many drawbacks. While mounted, Lancelot can't use auto-attacks, relics, or consumables. The horse moves forward automatically and turns very slowly in a similar manner to Guan Yu and Hachiman. Taking too much damage, being hit by hard CC, or firing an ability will dismount you, limiting Lancelot's maximum damage output.

Skills

Camelot's Quest
Every enemy god or five minion death gives a stack of auto-attack mitigation in front of Lancelot when dismounted or increased movement speed while mounted.
A passive that goes nicely with Lancelot's playstyle of getting in quickly on his horse and being able to fight head-on with his targets and roles. Jungle players want the additional movement speed, while Solo benefits more from damage mitigation.

Piercing Thrust
Lancelot dashes a short distance forward. If he manages to hit an enemy with this ability, he can fire this ability again.
While simple in concept, using this effectively with attack-canceling and weaving in auto-attacks can drastically increase Lancelot's damage output.

Shining Gallop
Lancelot's horse charges forward, passing through walls, damaging and slowing any enemies it hits. Lancelot dismounts from his horse when Shining Gallop is activated.
Use this ability on a fleeing target or when you need to slow down a target to get the last hit in.

Skilled Strikes
Lancelot bashes his shield into an enemy, knocking them up as the cone extends with an outer radius. After the shield bash, Lancelot follows up with a side swipe with his lance. Enemies hit by the sideswipe in the outer radius are hit with additional damage if knocked up.
Best to use as a follow-up between Piercing Thrust as well as a way to clear lane waves, jungle camps, and fighting.

Crashing Dive
Lancelot launches himself from his horse and crashes down, dealing damage in a radius around him. Before he launches himself, a small radius appears around the horse. If an enemy god is caught in that small radius when Lancelot launches from his horse, they become rooted.
A tremendous first ability to use during a fight to make sure that not only could you get a hit in but also when near an ally so they could follow up on your control.

Mount Up
Lancelot mounts his horse, gaining increased movement speed and a shield that grows the longer you stay mounted on your horse. While in this stance, Lancelot gains a new set of abilities. Using an ability, taking too much damage, or getting hit with hard CC dismounts you from your horse, but right-clicking does not.
Use your horse to move throughout the map quickly and engage with Crashing Dive to get that root for a set-up.

Quick Turn
While mounted, your horse does a 180 and runs the other way.
Minimal but, at the same time, very useful. Since turning on a horse is very slow, as demonstrated with Guan Yu and Hachiman, this is very useful to quickly turn around to avoid a gank or juke damage if timed right.

The Grand Joust
Mounting and rearing his horse, a jousting list appears. All enemies on the list are crippled while in the area. Lancelot dashes forward, damaging all enemies that Lance charges into and filling the horse's health shield at the end of the dash.
The best uses of this ability are for when you need a final hit, to hit multiple enemies, and to position yourself out of the middle of a teamfight.

Tips, Tricks, & Combos

  • Healthy as a Horse
Since your Mount needs time to build up its health shield, it's easy for the enemy to take it out early if you get hit immediately. Any item and relic that provide a health shield also increase your horses' health.
Example: Activating a shell relic before mounting quickly, so your horse has enough time to build up its shield before the enemy takes it out.
  • Duelist
Take full advantage of Lancelot's ability to reduce damage against a god he's facing. Utilize his passive in combination with his abilities to take out a single target
  • Gallop
Like other gods with mounts or abilities that make them faster, increasing your movement speed will also make your Mount faster. Buffs, relics, and items that increase your movement also affect your horse.

    1

    🠞 🠞 🠞
Activate Piercing Thrust to charge your way through a target. Once you stop, hit the cancel ability button and strike with an auto-attack. Follow up that by firing Piercing Thrust again before throwing in one more auto-attack to keep the damage coming.
Works best with items that increase auto-attack damage like Hydra's Lament and Jotunn's Ferocity.

    2

    🠞 🠞
Quickly dash in with Piercing Thrust, cancel this ability, then quickly activate Skilled Strikes before following up with the second use of Piercing Thrust.
Works best with items that allow your abilities to deal additional damage like The Crusher, Heartseeker, and Gladiator's Shield.

    3

    🠞 /
Get in close enough so that the root from Crashing Dive locks down your target, and depending on the situation, use either Piercing Thrust or Skilled Strikes based on the situation. Do you need quick damage, or do you want a bit of control?

    Ultimate

    🠞 🠞 🠞 🠞 🠞 /
Mount Up if you haven't already. Once close enough, use Crashing Dive to root your target. Once up close, use Combo 2 to damage your target as much damage as possible. Then if that wasn't enough, use The Grand Joust to get that last hit in or as a way to escape danger. If the target is still kicking, use Shining Gallop or Crashing Dive to keep up the damage.

Stages of the Game

Early Game

Jungle: Move around, clear camps, and help the Mid lane for the first three levels. Once you hit Level 5 and get your ultimate online, start ganking the lanes and use your high damage output early to gain the advantage on your opponents.
Solo: Stall the lane and wait till Level 5 until you can start playing aggressively. Push the opponent back so you can safely take camps and objectives.

Mid Game

Jungle: Utaize your fast clearing and mobility from your mount to move from camp to camp or gank lanes to help allies.
Solo: Farm EXP and get more stacks for your passive so you can take more hits during little fights against the enemy Solo.

Late Game

Move in on your mount, dive the backline, and get out just as quickly. Help the team with objectives by dealing damages and fighting off enemies with your CC if they get too close.

Summary

In conclusion, Lancelot is a fighter who can take out his targets and get to where he needs to be more quickly, thanks to his horse. With his utility and control, Lancelot plays like a high-mobility warrior with the stats of an assassin. Combine your abilities to maximize damage, use both the control and mobility your mount provides, and show them what it means to be a true knight.
