Erlang Shen... In Chinese lore he is a badass. In Smite his design is Badass. His posture.... is fabulous!
Erlang Shen is either a massive tank that can take tons of damage or a attack speed beast that can melt everything in his path. Basically Erlang Shen is a male Athena and quick Wukong. Personally, I would have liked to see something more intuitive in his abilities and passive. Yet he is still a very great addition to the game. I always appreciate how Hirez constantly pushes out great new content and with the addition of Erlang Shen, it really shows just how much work was put into him.
Note: I will try to keep this guide as up to date as possible. Also I am open to any of your opinions on how I could improve this guide.
Patch 3.16 increases the cooldown from 12s to 16s on Pin. Which is alright I guess. It definitely helps when facing off with an enemy Erlang Shen. However, when facing off with an extremely skilled Erlang Shen it will still be a challenge. Although the same thing can be said about any other god when facing off with skilled players.

I feel like Warrior Tabi is still better aswell, since Erlang Shen usually allready has another mana item, and he has attack speed in his kit, so the power Warrior Tabi provides usually provides better benefits than what Ninja Tabi provides on Erlang Shen. Ohwell, just my opinion.
However for the "attack speed" build you may want to switch Ichaival to Qin's Sais, at least during the late game.
And I can see you build Jotunn's Wrath only for its CDR. In that case you could perhaps use Breastplate of Valor for some more defense if needed. Call it a "situational".
1. What is the direct purpose for using bloodforge on erlang. Does it prove invaluable?
2. I think in the attack speed build I would actually consider building Ritual dagger or winged blade over jotun's first then maybe jotun's second. Possibly ichaival, maybe even o-bow if well ahead. just thoughts there.
3. I agree with urchin in almost any build particularly althought sometimes situationally i prefer spirit robe as it is lovely especially properly used on shen, that's just from my experiences.
4. I would actually like an explanation on the usage of Asi for shen. I see it however don't "feel it." Would love to hear how it has helped others or affected them in it's integration.
Thanks for the post though!
IF you purchase it you buy it for what?
The Minx damage on his 3? For the dmage on his Spear Throw?
Or does his 1 benefits from the 33% Penetration?
No my friend The Executioner is a much better choice if you want some effective pen on Erlang ,or Qin's Sais for enemy Gods that amass bulks of Health through items such as Warriors,Guardians AND Mages with Warlock's Sash Sash...
You might even consider the Stone Cutting Sword if you want some pen and mobility in case you want to jungle with the Sage...
Either way, both can be good for him. I feel that Qin's Sais is needed though.
Since his passive also procs item, that means each basic attack apply 2 stacks.
So, after dealing only 1 basic attack, you already get 24% reduction.
