Introduction

Welcome. This is probably one of the first guides I've ever wrote for Smite, but when I started playing Chang'e I haven't seen that many of them. So there you go, maybe it will help you out a bit.

Basically what this guide offers you is the insane amount of sustainability that Chang'e offers. I'm talking 'Never have to go back to spawn.' kind of sustainability. What this build focuses on is high magical DPS combined with very low Cooldown allowing you to spam abilities constantly, as well as high MP5 to help you out with staying in your lane. You should probably utilize the most out of your passive - The Jade Rabbit.
You shouldn't also refrain from using your abilities to move about faster, especially getting out of the basic attack slowdown to dodge abilities. While Chang'e has her 2nd ability granting her immunity, she is still quite squishy, so to balance out big chunks of damage you can do with his build, you also need to be careful and stay 'on the ball'. This will reward you with very good damage against most gods without any magical resistances, as well frequent ultimates and usefulness in team fights late game.

Pros / Cons

PROS:

+ Very high sustain thanks to 2nd ability
+ Very high support abilities that don't negate damage potential
    + Healing
+ Low cooldown with high mana regen
+ Very slippery for enemy Gods
    + PRIVATE COURIER!!!

CONS:
    - Doesn't deal well with stuns
    - Technically low basic damage = not great when pushing towers

Skills

Jade Rabbit Passive - 25% movement speed upon casting abilities speaks for itself - use it often to get out of sticky situations. The other half of the ability is the talking rabbit, that acts as your personal courier. Frankly, without him Chang'e wouldn't be as good as she is - he really helps you out sit in your lane forever, fetching you items one at a time. Just access the store whenever you want in your lane and the rabbit will go and fetch you the item! Make the rabbit run for your items all the time!!!

Crescent Moon Dance - Pretty much your main damage dealer. Again, this build is aimed at high sustainability with high DPS - and DPS isn't Chang'es most prominent side, that's why we are fixing with items. Items that increase your Magical Power definetly help. Use it often, against minions and Gods alike.

Moonlit Waltz - 'Oh ****!' button in a nutshell. Basically an Aegis that allows you to move while under attack and regain mana from damage mitigated. It isn't all that much, that's why you are probably going to level it last. Only flaw of the ability is that you can't get out of stuns, so if you happen to be in a stun lock, you should pray to some other God to help you out.

Moonflower Dance - Something that you will probably use more in it's healing way rather than attacking. It has a 360 attack radius as opposed to the Crescent Moon Dance 45 degrees, but it pays with lower damage. Not only it heals you, your minions and other gods, but also slows down enemy healing by a whooping 50% - extremely useful against healers in lanes!

Waxing Moon - now that's something that makes Chang'e... Hm, magical. It's quite fiddly. The ultimate goes down in a straight line and casts instantly after pressing M1. Not only it deals a lot of damage, but stuns the first God for 1s. Each subsequent God Waxing Moon goes through gets stunned by 1s + 1s for each God stunned before. Ideally, in a team fight, you can stun up to 5 Gods, where the 5th in line would be sitting still for 5 whole seconds. Crazy, isn't it? Alternatively it can slow down pursuers, as adding your 25% faster movement speed when casting spells should add up to the distance between them and yourself.

Items

Now that's something more elaborate. The items are supposed to enhance your Damage Per Second with very low Cooldown and high Mana independence. Some of those items, especially Meditation might seem a bit unecessary late game, but without it early game wouldn't have as much impact as it does. Also, there aren't many actives you could be using as Chang'e thanks to her Moonlit Waltz ability. But let's get on to the case.

Core Items:
Meditation - allows you to stay in the lane forever. When you seem running low on mana, simply click the active hotkey and you are ready to keep on slicing. Very useful especially early game, where you might want to upgrade it quickly. The MP5 mana regen once you level it up to Salvation is insane when staying in the lane, especially with someone who is Mana hungry. Other pro of the Salvation is that boosts up your and your teammates healing, so you can combo it with your Moonflower Dance to get the most out of that item! It's reccomended when you are solo or middle lane, otherwise a good old Sprint is a good choice.

Shoes of Focus - those speak for themselves. They allow you to be fast early game and boosting you with some nice Magical Damage, as well as 15% cooldown reduction, that you will later stack on with Chronos' Pendant for maximum effectiveness. Pretty much a must for early game in every gamemode.

Chronos' Pendant - second item in succession to Shoes of Focus that you need to max out quickly. It effectively boosts you with more Mana regen, as well as reduces your cooldown even more. Magical Damage as always, very nice to see.

Doom Orb - now here is where sustainability comes into play. By 'Faerie of The Sustain' I mean not dying much. That results in the ability to keep on building Doom Orb stacks. While the Orb itself doesn't boost your Magical Power all that much, the stacks really add up in the later game. Be sure to keep on farming creeps using Crescent Moon Dance to maximize the Damage potential out of this item. At 50 orbs early game you can really pack a punch to some weaker opponents!

Rod of Asclepius - decided to throw that in, since not only it enhances your Magical Power by +75, but also enhances your healing abilites by a whooping 15%. That's nothing to sniff at - really useful with God's abilities and helps her with her sustain in the lane.

Obsydian Shard - if you have a lot of trouble fighting tanks with high magical defense, go for that item. It has +33% penetration that scales off your total Magical Power, so the more of it you have, the more you penetrate tank's armor. Handy, but optional.

Polynomicon - something to boost your basic attack. As Chang'e, your basic attack doesn't deal all that much damage and you should focus on spamming your abilities anyways. That doesn't mean a small boost wouldn't be nice to see, especially when you are chasing after a low God - that one basic attack can secure you a kill. The effect only applies once in 4s, but it's better than nothing, right? And it also further expands your DPS potential with high Mana pool and Magical Power.

Soul Reaver - time for my 2 favorites. First of them is Soul Reaver - +100 Magical Power is really huge. It also grants you 300 more Mana to use up, but that isn't it. It's passive feature is that each 60s you deal up to 15% of a God's total health as additional damage. That means even using your Crescent Moon when harrassing you can beat a God to a pulp without him even realizing and will make others think twice before they start chasing you down the jungle. Really cool item.

Rod of Tahuti - finishing the draft with everyone's favourite. Costly, but in the end game it doesn't matter. Boosts your Magical Power by a lot. 'nuff said.

Heavenly Agility - now this was a hard one. Since we are always aiming at being a Support that can surprise with high DPS, it's always good to have something to escape or attack with. It boosts all your teammates in a very wide radius as well as yourself, but also grants boosted healing for a short duration - that way you can enhance your small healing with Moonflower Dance.

Optional Items:
Now here you can basically choose one of these. The build assumes the idea of Moonlit Waltz as your main Damage Mitigation ability, but if you feel you are really getting ganked up upon, check who are their gankers and build your defense accordingly. These 3 items should help you out in those prolonged fights and down the Middle Lane, where ganks are more frequent than on side lanes.

Void Stone - cheap alternative to the Doom Orb. You are giving up stacks for some additional Magical Protection, but also it reduces enemies Magical Defense in your radius - quite useful while not being a bad item. Usually good against frequent magic-based ganks, but doesn't hinder your DPS ability.

Breastplate of Valor - against those really pesky Assassins. Big boost to your Physical Protection and grants you a huge Mana pool. Consider switching it for the Chronos' Pendant, since it also reduces cooldowns by 25% - no point having 2 of these when you have this maxed out at 40% already. You give up some Damage potential, but allows you to be more tanky - once again - perfect for Middle Laners.

Gem of Isolation - my favourite optional, often switch it out for Polynomicon. Almost same Magical Power boost, but also enhances your Health and Mana pools by +250 each. The passive is what makes it really good - enemies hit by your spells are slowed down by 25%. If you combine it with very low cooldown, then... you get the idea. Very annoying item, so if you feel trolly - go for it!

Team Work

Chang'e is a weird God. Thanks to her very high versatility she is good not only in a side lane, but also can hold out mid thanks to her Crescent Moon. Her usefulness comes in the late game, once team fights start to break out. Mass healing and her 2 team-focused actives allow her to really boost up the team and also deal mass chunks of damage.

Because of that there aren't any Gods that Chang'e would excel at supporting. Having her solo-lane with an Assassin like Loki, Mercury or Thor creeping in the Jungle is quite good if you can nail those ultimates well enough to stun enemies. The Moonflower Dance should keep you and them alive long enough as well as allow you to keep harrassing the enemy. Basically any Assassin, Hunter or ideally a Warrior are your good partners in the lane.

On the other hand, getting stuck in the lane with a Guardian or other Mage is going to be a pain, as it usually is. If enemies start building up Magical Defense, you should probably start thinking about switching lanes, because you won't be able to do as much as you would normally do. And the basic attack is not your ally here, although Polynomicon should at least help you out a little bit.

Middle lane is also fine, although you will be wasting your actives up until late game only on yourself. Don't be afraid to do that though and don't wait for your gankers with them - they are made to hold out on their own. Keep harrassing the enemy to low health and then Waxing Moon them for an easy kill to a ganker.

Summary

To sum up Chang'e - she's a God that you want her to be with your items. She is able to do very high spell damage, heal if you decide to go with Rod of Asclepius (although it isn't necessary) while having the escape button in the form of Moonlit Waltz. This is what makes her so annoying to play against, as she can be very slippery. Where her abilities don't require skill all that much, you can make it up with good dodging and Damage Mitigation. Don't be afraid to keep using your skills, as you can always call upon your Salvation to replenish Mana and boost your regen up to +100 MP5!

Keep on spamming abilities, even when just moving around for that +25% speed boost in the late game. That build focuses on that aspect of Chang'e so utilize it as best you can.

This guide matches my gameplay with Chang'e so much. She was the first god I tried, so I'm quite attached. Only thing I really do different is that I usually buy sprint at the start and then as soon as I have 300 gold I send the rabit off to buy meditation (he always returns before mana is low).

Thanks for the guide, I find it's best to tank her up a bit though, worse mage in the lot. Boring play, no cool skills and the heals are lackluster.

I pretty much started with her and I had winning streaks because of how annoying she is.

True: She's no DPS. She's no Healer. She is no Tank. But she is a Jack-of-all-trades thanks to her aegis-like ability. What you want is continuously take away chunks of health, because you are as fast if not faster for easier kills.

Chang'e does lack a nuke ability, doesn't mean she is completely useless. Buying correct items make her a pain to play against.

Nice guide!:) Though personally I buy doom orb first, so I get my stacks fast and I can clear lane easily:) In overall it's pretty similar to my build:3

It depends, I've found that rushing Orb really helps in modes like Joust or even Arena, but in Conquest the speed is where it's all at. You are too slow and if you are soloing or being mid, you lose half of the stacks you've gathered if you don't run away, so...

It's just safer to have it second or even third, in early game you are not meant to be dealing all that much damager, rather help you stay in your lane forever. Later on, by buying correct items, you can surprise enemy with a sudden burst of damage. B)
