But "no value gotten" I feel is just false. Outside of the enemy ADC's abilities, they are still going to have to rely on their basics. Getting the Ich stacks is going to slow their early basics to a crawl. It's extremely noticeable.
In the case you find yourself ahead, one kill over the enemy ADC (especially a first blood or something) can be the difference allowing for an item 400 gold more than Silverbranch Bow.
Of course, you give up lifesteal, which is helpful if you're taking repeated poke damage but don't want to back, and that's where the early Devourer's Gauntlet (old-school) or skipping Devo's and getting the buffed Asi come into play.
So just really depends on your preference...mine is to avoid Silver, personally, as I really, really like Asi/Ich right now, and I like my lifesteal pretty early in most cases.
As for the pros building it...doesn't mean it's always the best for you, or for your situation. You see them experimenting a lot with builds, especially in ranked rather than SPL.

Just seeing that it has been built, once by Vote, twice by Ataraxia. Two of those three times were on Apollo.
