I'm the most determined to fight as much as I can, so...

[x] Run toward the sword.

After all, I'm still...

the *******...

son...

of...

Ares

[x] Run towards the sword.

Although I think "it" could be in pain, I won't take chances.

Just an FYI, screaming insects do exist.

Should I have a "round" every 24 hours, or every 36 or 48 hours?

Shorter rounds mean quicker updates. But things can get rushed, or some people might miss votes.

Longer rounds typically means better quality updates, people have more time to vote, but the Quest plays slower.

[x] Run toward the sword.

The monstrous insect is still between you and the sword, but getting to it was your only chance.

You take a step forward - and it lunges.

You let out an involuntary cry as the beast's fangs clamp into your shoulder. Its many eyes reflected nothing as it coiled around you, driving you into the ground.

So you punched in the eye.

Hard.

The thing lets out another deafening shriek, releasing you as it scuttles backwards on its many legs. Before you can do more than catch your breath, it turns around and tunnels into the earth, vanishing from sight.

Well.

That was easy.

You pick up the sword and the melon, and keep walking along the path. The wound was oozing with blood, but it looked fairly shallow, and compared to recent events, barely qualified as a wound. You can't even feel much pain.

It was getting dark by the time you reached the farmhouse. You could barely see the small clay cottage, with a few unbarred windows cut into the walls.
Something's wrong.
You stand a few steps away, debating on whether or not to enter through door, until you hear a whisper.

You instantly duck behind a corner, set in a crouch.

"Come on. You expect me to believe that, Eugene?" The voice sounded male, and its speaker was an adult of indeterminable age. It came from inside the house.

You relax by a hair. You weren't spotted.
Something felt wrong.
"I'm sure you have a few talents tucked away for a special occasion," the voice continued. It was smooth and confident.

"No," stammered another voice, also male, but older, and presumably Eugene. "I really-"

"Let's cut to the chase," the other man interrupted. "You live in my town- under my protection, right?"

"Right," Eugene said shakily.
You couldn't feel any pain.
"I'm just asking for a few coins, to make things easier for the boys," says the first man patiently. "Would that really be such a burden for a successful entrepreneur like yourself?"

You risk a peek in a window, and see two dark sillouettes and a glimmer of metal. You duck your head back quickly.

"I-I guess not," concedes the second man.

You hear the tinkering of coins, then the faint thumps of someone trying to move quietly in boots. Then the night becomes silent once more.
You couldn't feel anything.
That was...something. Something to think about.

You get up, slowly, before sagging against the wall.
Your vision is starting to dim.
The fight and walk must have taken more of a toll on you than you thought.

You step out from behind the wall. You can see the faint outlines of more buildings ahead - you were in a village of some sort. It was too dark to see more than that. You felt...tired.

Well, you couldn't sleep on the ground.

[x] Enter the farmhouse and crash there.
[x] Go into the village and crash somewhere.
-[x] Another building. Knocking would work. right?
-[x] An alleyway, a cart full of hay, a stable, whatever.

I feel like this town isn't really ... "happy" about newcomers...
