Sir, I am curious about the diminishing returns on attack speed/penetration, as well as buy order. As in, does it matter which order to purchase items in? In your example of the Obsidian Shard and Spear of the Magus (don't know how to hotlink those), and if 100 was the maximum penetration amount:

Spear first - 30 flat, would leave 70, then add shard of 45% (31.5) would give 61.5 magic pen.

Shard first - 45% of 100 (45) plus the spear of 30, would be 75 magic pen.

Or am I thinking too much into it.

Thanks for all your info!

Had you read the thread the answers where there for you, but Ill post it once more for you.

Simple way to explain with giant numbers for ease.

You start at 0% and have 100 to go to hit 100%.

You buy 50% item.

You now have 50% with a remaining 50% to 100.

You buy that same 50% item and its going to be 50% of the remaining, in this case 50%.

50% of 50 is 25. So the 2nd item gave you 25% increase.

You now have 75%.

You buy it a 3rd time and 50% of the remaining 25% is 12.5%.

As in order it does not matter what order you buy them in. It will always take the flat number from Spear of the Magus first, then add in the % from Obsidian Shard

Generally tho you only want to build a % pen item when they are stacking resistance to you tho.

Copy & paste your stuff again don't help me to understand :/

Let us assume that I attack one time per sec with 100 Damage

Is this correct?
I buy an item with 50% attack speed.
1 * (100%+50%) = 1.5 attacks per sec => 150 DpS => +50%

I buy another Item with 50% attack speed
1 * (100%+50%+50%) = 2 attacks per sec => 200 DpS => +33%

I buy another Item with 50% attack speed
1 * (100%+50%+50%+50%) = 2.5 attacks per sec => 250 DpS => +25%

That's far away from 50%, 25%, 12.5%... :/

Tantal it doesn't work like that
each item with attack speed you buy doesn't give you the exact stat it said.

It becomes less and less the higher your attack speed is.
this is only with % not with (flat)real stats.

Thank you for your answer.

In my calc the second 50% AS item improves my attack speed by +33% and the third by +25%.

Can you tell me the correct formula to calculate AS?

I believe there is no formula released :/
or I just don't know it

but your calculation is off because you add 50% each time

while for your last calculation it would be something like this

1 * (100%+50%+50%+50%)

but
1 * 100%+ 50% +(50% of 50% = 25% ) + (50% of 50% of 50% = 12.5%)
so 1 * (100%+50%+25%+12.5%) = 187.5% so 1.87 attacks per sec => 187dps

I played Freya to level 20 in a pracatice game without buying items.
After 15 minutes I spend the money in some AS Items.

1.32 => AS Freya level 20
1.38 => AS with Warrior Tabi (6%)
1.57 => AS with The Executioner (20%)
1.90 => AS with Fatalis (35%)
2.14 => AS with Qin's Blades (25%)
2.28 => AS with Ankh of the Golem (15%)

Looks like both formulas are wrong.

But the concept of Asmoday makes really no sence - maybe he is a good player but he wrote a lot of wrong things in this forum. :/

1.32 * 100% + 6% + (6% of 20% => 0.012) + (6% of 20% of 35% => 0.0042) + (6% of 20% of 35% of 25% => 0.00105) + (6% of 20% of 35% of 25% of 15% => 0.0001576) = 1,3974075

But they also not only sum the AS bonus values => that would result in 2,33 and in game it's 2.28.

So the formula is close but also not correct and I can only hope to get an offical source of the theory as soon the game is out of Beta.

I never gave you a formula 0.o
just a concept on how it would work

but yeah thats how I thought It would work.

well thanks

edit:
hmmm it looks like for each 20% AS it does -1% AS

but I think it would scale more on higher AS
but that would seem like a good footnote to start with XD
